I blame Siena. I saw his B7 wiper arms on his rather stunning project and decided I wanted some of that for my own car. A quick phone call to the Main Dealer with the part numbers kindly supplied and teh result was...

£30 each arm and £17 per blade, Almost £100 for windscreen wiper arms!!! Think I'll keep my eyes open at the scrapyard. lol

get the aero kit of vagparts steve. thats what i am gonna do!

I thought the aero kit from Vagparts was the whole deal?
The correct type arms and propper Aero blades. Rather than the Ebay specials which just clip onto the normal arms?

The Vagparts kits are Passat B5.5 items. They're ok, but don't look as good as the B7 ones. They're a bit too straight and angular.

Still, just a matter of choice. I looked at them, and didn't like them.

pictures of said B7 arms please?

I have the passatt ones and like them... havent really noticed the B7 ones though.

Here they are...

I prefer my passat arms. The B7 ones still look a little cheap with the gaps in the top of the arms

The gaps are there to allow air to pass through them at high speed.

Rather than hitting the solid arms, and affecting operation - slowing the downward strokes.

Do they keep your windows cleaner???

Without a doubt. No judder, smearing, and they don't squeak, even when there's little moisture on the screen.

my wipers seem to hit the drivers side window frame with a bit of force on the upward stroke, the arms are adjusted to the correct angle though when parked.

do you get a ny similar issues with the b7 arms? also i notice they sweep very close to the passenger trim, do they touch?

Mine don't catch on either the passenger's or driver's side trip, even with a wet screen, and wipers on fastest speed.

are the b7 arms a direct swap?

No. The B7 ams use a much larger spindle, I had a couple of aluminium taper collars turned out as adapters. Cost £5.

True, the Passat B5.5 arms are a direct fit, nice and easy.

Same way a V6 Biturbo is a direct fit to my A4 2.6 quattro.

An S8 4.2L V8 isn't a direct fit, but definitely the grin factor will be greater. :ninja:

Yes the V8 I'm sure will be better but only if charged also!!
