Slimline PS2 Fitted/Tints & Washed..Pics...

thanks mate for the info, i will PM for the bluetooth when i am all ready hopfully you will still have it, is it simple to install, also is that the only kit that intergates with the rns-e or are there others too?

The official OEM kit is the only one that integrates to the rns fully with all the dialing etc allowed from the rns screen plus caller ID on the DIS and rns.
Not 'hard' to install as long as you know what I mean when I say K line which you have to splice into (back of the RNS)..
The rest is running a cable up the pillar to the light cluster and adding a mic..

Where are your rear passengers going to put there feet?

The ps2 is attached to he underside of the front seat - there is a ledge under as well where the feet vents are so the passengers feet will not come through and hit the ps2

Lad - did you know you can set you climate control to the same degrees and use the drivers side one to control the two?? just set them to the same temperature and hold the auto button for a few seconds then you can adjust the temp for both sides with one knob

Nice install! If you're gonna spend a lot of time in your car - stationary, of course - I think it's a worthwhile addition.

Is it just me or does anyone else not understand this?

Boydie: Are you trying to say their is enough room under the PS2 for someone's feet? Look at the pics man...

Thanks for the tip Boydie! I am really frustrated at changing both temps everytime!

The pic is a view from infront of the passengers front seat

The rear passengers feet do not go into that area - they would sit in behind the ps2

it would be the same for the drivers side with the storage pack

Media Adapter & TV in Motion from S8 craig and power invertor is all you need. Wow! I've upset alot of people on here!! LOL!! The PS2 is there for when I need it. I don't understand, why people don't understand. Take this weekend for example, me and my bro went up to the Open day at Polished Bliss. 351 mile trek from Warrington, so did I play PES6 on the way up, hell yeah!! Its just a nice option to have. Same as I don't use all 996 channels on my SKy + but when I wanna turn to the Audi Channel 884 its there.

Get my jist........I don't use it everyday, but its there when I want to play it. Its great on the nice long drives when I go to Bristol, gf can drive the 156 miles necessary and I can sit back and relax and play on the PS2, or watch a DVD or I'm gonna make some music videos soon.

Thanks for all the negative and positive comments

Personally if I wanted to play games whilst in the car I'd use a PSP. Damn sight easier to install too!

Looks nice playing on the Nav screen. Wouldn't have one myself as wouldn't use it often enough.

Is there any reason why you didn't put a PS3 in? Too big/expensive? PS2s seem really old now!

Now we're getting somewhere with some good questions!! I'm still playing PES6 on the PS2 and haven't upgraded to the PS3 yet. Plus with the PS3 being 1080p and blueray you need to be playing it on a FULL HD to get the best out of it. PS3 will either come this year, but most probably next once GT5/GTA IV/MGS 4 etc have all been released!

But you're right it does look nice on the Nav screen

What if she needs the sat nav on the drive then - how does that work ?

Also is this wise in the front of car when you are meant to be concentrating on the road and someone is watching TV or playing video games - IMO probably not.

I have to agree with you on that - the mods people do to their cars are a personal choice. If other people don't like them, that doesn't mean they are bad mods. As long as you are happy that is all that matters.

You've decided to add a PS2 - other people will prefer to spend their money on other stuff like S3 bumpers, FBSW, S3 Pedals, Bluetooth, bigger wheels or a remap.

On a more serious note, which Media Adaptor did you use? I've been looking at the various model but don't know which one to buy. I've seen two different Kufatec ones - one that lets you control certain peripherals (tv tuner\dvd player, etc) from the RNS-E itself, and one that doesn't.

I want to install a TV Tuner, DVD player and maybe have the option of using a video-in input to connect up my Archos or some other media player.

There's also a nifty reverse camera that can be added if you set your RNS-E to Lambo mode (may also work with R8 mode).

Look at my sig Mark, I'm putting on a S3 front end, I've got A FBMFSW, I'm gettin bluetooth, I've got 19s and I'm getting it mapped!!!

I guess I've got my cake and I'm gonna eat it all of it

I think Craig used a Kufatec one as well. I just go to 'source' on the RNS-E and the PS2 is under 'TV'. Where would the reverse camera go? That is a very smart mod, providing its not too much I'd look into that :sly:

Mark I don't play the PS2 whilst driving you PLONKER! Sat Nav operates at the same time, same as if you were listening to music!

I am aware that you are not playing it PLONKER - I am talking about the distraction from somebody else playing it or watching a DVD - it's in your eyeline and thats the reason the Audi fitted TV doesn't work on the move !

Might take a look at the Kufatec one then. I may drop Craig a PM to see what he'd charge to supply the bits. I already have my RNS-e hacked for Video in Motion, so I'll save a bit on that I suppose.

From what I understand the reverse camera is the one from the Q7 and it can be purchased from Audi parts dept along with the boot release surround for the Q7. The articles I've read suggest that this will also fit the A4. I've not done any more digging to see if it also fits the A3. I'll look at getting the media adaptor and tuner sorted first. I know how to park, so the reverse camera would be more of a novelty.

When I'm driving any car, not just my A3 with RNS-E fitted, I tend to look out the windscreen. The RNS-E screen is not in the middle of the windscreen, therefore the screen is never in my eyeline unless I look towards it.

I'm sure it is more distracting having half a dozen kids jumping around in the back screaming and fighting, or even having the other half constantly doing her Hyacinth Bucket impersonation.

That is so true :applaus: Enough said....

That might be true in some cases but I am sure it is illegal to have a video screen in your car that the driver can see (doesn't have to be watching it) whilst moving.....

Its illegal to go over 30 in a 30 zone but I'm sure everyone on this forum has done it!

Look if you want to be clever then so be - I am just pointing out that the law states that this is illegal and that as a matter of course in the event of a serious crash (not wishing that on anyone of course) then such things are frequently investigated to see if any distraction could be partly to blame.

I won't post anymore and leave you to it as it's your car and you can do what you want at the end of the day.

Cheers.....

Its great having toys in the car, I had a DVD player in the Golf and will have one in the A3 soon, there are times when you hardly use it but I found it was great for when I picked the wife up and had something to watch !!! they are perfect for traffic !

Hey Mark no need to be so stroppy! I know what the law states, but I haven't even used it yet whilst driving, only when the gf is driving I sometimes play on PES6 which she hates so she won't be looking at the screen!

Thanks anyway pal, no worries :arco:

N8... Roughly what time scale are you looking at to make all the mods?

Paul.

This is the "plan"....

April - Tyres & Fit them/Exhaust Pipes/Bluetooth
May - Coilovers/ARBs/De-Badge
June - S3 Front end/Rims on/Plate
July - Remap

:yum:

Excuse my ignorance but if your fitting your tires this month why are you not fitting your wheels until June?

Also the de-badge shouldn't take more than 20 mins so why wait 'til May?
