Ally inserts and the "mirror black door inserts.

My ally trim around the windows seems to be oxidised and less than shiney.
Is there any way of cleaning these. I have tried some metal poishes and it seems to do nothing.

Also one of the triangular mirror black inserts in the back door (A6 Avant) has gone rusty (bubbled and some surface gone). Can these be repainted or touched up or would I need a replacement? If so where would I get these from or is it many trips to breakers yards.

Hard to say for sure on both counts without piccies, but my initial thoughts are that Jeffs Werkstatt Prime Strong should bring up the aluminum trims (if not then stronger metal polishes may be needed - what did you use?) and it would be worth consulting a bodyshop about the rear door insert, as it might be able to be repaired quite easily. Any chance of some piccies?

Seems to be a comon problem with these - my roof rails are tarnished and I've tried lots of different products but to no avail.

My final thought is to machine polish them (by hand so far) to see if I can make some impact but one guy said it might be the lacquer' that has failed?!
