S3 Mirrors...To fit or not to fit?

Alright chaps, just fishing for opinions really. I keep toying with the idea of fitting some S3 mirrors to my 2.0T s-line but i'm just not convinced it's a good mod...

Is it a bit too played out and unoriginal i.e. completely naff and should only ever be seen on an S3?... or ...Do they still pass as a nice OEM upgrade for any A3? I'm stuck somewhere between the 2!

I personally would not. The reason i say that is because anybody who know theyre cars will think "He's not fooling me, thats no S car"

I used to think it myself everytime I saw one.

Instead go for some spacers or somthing else

I've got S3 Mirrors, to match my roof bars, and the lovely dish on the 19"s when they go on!

I guess if you're matching the mirrors in with roof rails etc then it looks good. I agree though that the last thing i want is for it to look like an S3 wannabe because it's definitely not. I actually like the look of the s-line just as much in it's own right, if not more than the S3.
L60N: Already got the H&R spacers covered (10mm all round) and looking into H&R springs.... then i'll be all set for the wheels.

I really like the look of the S cars, the reason being, the mirrors, the nice door and grille badges and the overall stance of the car.

I bought an A4 TDi 130 Sport and added RS4 cabriolet mirrors, S-line badges and ambient lighting, still to upgrade the wheels.

I'm not trying to fool anyone I really just like the way the car now looks. These are the bits that Audi spend millions designing machining and fitting to the S models to make them look as good as they possibly can. Why snub it when when you like it due to some purists telling you it's wrong.

Basically my car now looks the way I want it to and not the way others think it should look. That's what matters.!

Do whatever you want to your car, and enjoy it!

It won't be long before you hear the badge snobs shouting.........How very Dare you have your car remapped and make it quicker than mine, I'm an S3 driver you know!....lol

You want your car to be individual, and not perceived as trying to be somthing its not, especially when thats totally NOT what you're trying to acheive.

Keep the dosh for the Springs then

I would have thought you'll find some quite easily? I'd imagine any A3 owner who's swapped for S3 mirrors will have the old ones lying around. Alternatively just get ANY replacement mirror covers sprayed phantom black.

OR....Just pull some off another car in tesco carpark (JOKE)

Im certainly NOT trying to be a badge snob PNH80, you asked for an opinion and I gave you what immediatly sprung to mind, as regards what others may think.

My personal view is as Andy D quite rightly stated; If you like the look, and thats what you would like to do, then do it!! and to hell with what other peope think.

Personally I think you can put whatever you like on your car, after all its your car,if you dont want positive/negative replies dont post.
If you like it "dooooooo it" we have a nanny state in the uk anyway so before someone tells you not to do this or that just dooooooooooo it. :icon_thumright:

If you had a dark coloured car I'd say yes the brushed chrome mirrors would probably top it off nicely.

I had them on my Black A3 but the S3 hadn't been launched then

Yeah i know all that, and i'd never belittle anyone for giving an opinion....The point of the thread is simply to ask opinion as i'm undecided. The opinions of other Audi drivers and car enthusiasts in general matters to me so i want to know what you guys think. Thats all! Obviously the end decision will always be my own, i'd never change my car to make anyone happy other than myself.

In my opinion, no! On a silver car there will not be a huge noticeable difference

On a black or red car - yes but thats about it for me i think

Sorry about the "badge snob" comment, it wasn't meant to offend anyone, it's more a figure of speech rather than a insult directed at anyone. I do know where you're coming from mate.

It sometimes just annoys me that an s3 or s4 can be an amazing looking car and an a3 or a4 Sport or SE with a couple os S-LINE parts is seen to be pretencious or trying too hard.

Dear PNH80,

I would agree with Boydie. Not on a Silver car as it would be a waste of money!

It costs over US$500 here and I would spend it on something else!
