S3 one week old and scratched!!!

Hey guys,

My S3 is now one week old and as i was getting into the car after work today i noticed some bad scratches just below the rear side windows. They must have happened today as i didn't notice them today as i was helping my girl into the car. I don't have pics with me now but there are 4 of them right next to each other all about 2cm long and seem to have just taken off the paint (haven't gone into the metal). One of them is quite wide about 4mm. Is this an easy touch up or will i have to get the whole panel resprayed???

From what ive heard wet sanding might be the way to go?

It works with stone chips not sure with scratches?

Gutted mate, that really sucks. I bet you felt sick after seeing them.

I would have thought it's be a respray, but I'm no expert. I hope you get it as good as new.

To be fair mate don't feel too sick about it. Little known fact...A lot of 'new' cars have been touched up and resprayed after transit before registration. Nothing too rare for panels to be replaced and the lot. We, the customers never know any better. I know that probably won't make you feel any better but my point is.... a lot of us have probably got resprayed cars, at least you know about yours!

Mine had a tiny dent, and 2 tiny scratches from a stone chip, and I am currently having the wing re-sprayed, no other choice!!

And its at my mate's body shop, so I know that is the only choice.

You could give it to chips-away, but not sure I'd trust them with my car!

I wouldn't dream of touching it myself, get someone who does wet sanding round or take it to a Audi bodyshop!

The only way anyone on here will be able to give you decent advice is if you get some photos up.
I believe the general rule is... If you can get your nail stuck in it, it aint polishing out! And if it's gone through the clearcoat then it's a definite refinish e.g. sanded down and sprayed over. As long as it hasn't gone through to the paint it shouldn't be TOO expensive to rectify.
A quality detailer will probably get rid of it without a respray.

They won't be able to tell anyway!

He is far better that any Audi paint sprayer anyway, he usually does Bentley's, Ferrari's porkers etc, and only uses original paint etc, so won't be loosing any sleep over it.

Like previous postsalso say, most new cars have had paintwork prior to delivery anyway.

when mine got scratched quite badly by the dealer, they paid for another dealers body shop to sort it out, they used a touch up stick to fill the "hole" in the scratch and then buffed the ar5e out of it, I honestly couldn't see a mark afterwards

so while its an absolute pain having it happen to you, it will be ok

I just went outside to try take a pic but none would come out. I'm going to take it past a body shop i know and trust today and see what they say. I'll keep you guys posted.
