Right guys i know this has been asked a million times but i want to change my side lights/ daytime running lights to look more like my zenons when they are on. Basically not such a yellow light.

I would like to know

  • Which manufacturer you've used and part number if possible!
  • Price each or pair
  • Where you got them from
  • Easy to fit yourself? Or just get halfords to do it!
Many thanx gents

The Daytime Running Lights are just normal 21w bulbs, the same as used for brake lights. The problem is finding ones that look white when they are on and clear when there are off.

The are some available that are white when on, but are blue when they are off. The same is true for the small side light bulbs but because they are so small they hardly notice when they are off.

I'm sure someone who has already changed then will come up with details of the 'blue when off' details. There is a thread on the forum already which includes some pictures with the on and off.

:)

Try the thread below for a starter.....

clicky

I think you mean xenons ;)

DRLs are easy to change, sidelights a bit tricky as you'll need to remove the wheel arch liner to get access to the bulbs (full details in the thread).

The DRLs have a blue tint to them, but the light is miles better - much 'whiter'. There may well be some Philips Vision Plus bulbs that might do the trick, but not found anyone that has fitted these as yet.

Anyway, check the link out above, should point you in the right direction :icon_thumright:.

Balls - you beat me to it Dave as I was typing :)

Cheers gents,

I can't believe i wrote zenons too! what a tit! been a long day on the road and i'm half asleep.... Like the way your DRL's look Red Butcher, thats exactly what i'm after... and they are easy to do yourself on your drive?

Is it the side lights or side repeaters that are hard? I'm not worried about any of the 'indicator' lamps, just my DRL's and side lights before flicking to 'XENONS'!

You'll have to learn to type faster!!

I let you tell him how easy it is to change the DRL bulbs!

:) thanks Dave!

DRLs and sidelights are both straightforward - ignore what I said about removing the wheel arch liner - thats required for the indicators if you want to remove the orange look.

You'll be fine doing the DRLs and sidelights yourself on your drive :icon_thumright:

Have some Philips Vision Plus (only a couple of quid on eBay) for DRL and brake lights. A little whiter on DRL, but not much. Much brighter for brake lights though!
