Hi guys.

well after a week of ownership, my seats look fine, no creases but on the outer side bolster (the bit that holds your **** in on a tight bend) is looking a bit shiny rather than matte.

Can the ones in the know fill me in on what they use to bring back that brand new matte finish so i can nip this in the bud before i end up with shiny seats!! ;)


P.S. I dont want a cleaner, I want to restore the matte look if possible :icon_thumright:

good question... one I was gonna ask myself although I clearly 'float' into my car as they arent shiney yet! ;)
 
I wish i could float in too!

The bolsters on these bucket seats are so big its like climbing over a wall to get in!!

The first time in got in the car i nearly did myself an injury!!
 
Gliptone liquid leather!!! - The conditioner, not the cleaner.

I also use Poorboys Natural Look as it's not greasy or shiney.
 
You could do a lot worse than any of the leather conditioning/cleaning wipes you can buy from any supermarket.
Purists would probably mock, but I find they work fine.
I use them on my bike leathers, our suite and the car.
 
I too just use a household leather cleaner meant for the settee, surely leather is leather and it doesnt matter if its in the car or in the front room. The one that use looks shiny at first but it soaks in and looks more matt afterwards, trying to think what its called! :uhm:
 
None of the leather care wipes I use leave the leather shiny, I wouldn't like that.
I use Armor all protectant for the dash and interior plastics, but it also says it's suitable for leather.
I've used it a few times, and it seemed to be fine.
I must have been doing something right, because the bolsters in my three year old S-line looked like new.
I used to use neat's-foot oil on my bike leathers, but that's a bit old skool!
 
Ah this isnt a wipe its a liquid application, I will find out the name when I get home as it escapes me. You add a generous amount and leave it to soak, then go around buffing it in, pain in the **** but its is very good though, the drivers bolster in my 2000 A4 looks great for its age
 
Leather's pretty resilient stuff, I've been looking after it for years (bike gear)
You can even, if you use a non-biological powder, machine wash it!
It just needs some feeding.
Zero feeding will end up with it drying and cracking.
Even occasional and pretty basic feeding (conditioning) will give good results.
I've got leathers I had 20 years ago.
I can't fit into 'em, but they still look as good as new.:lmfao:

I read somewhere that baby wipes are good for looking after leather :idea:
 
I've heard that too, a colleague whose recently had a kid said he tried it and it worked well, I've not yet had a reason to purchase baby wipes though
 
Baby wipes are good for cleaning anything off anything. In fact they are so good it makes you wonder the harm they must do to a baby's skin. I always keep a pack in my cars.

I will try the baby method, unfortunately we dont get many products. The Seat bolster on my S3 (the one on the outer side, where your butt goes) is showing some wrinkles after only 2 months. But I am also afraid of shine, I want to keep the matt look!

I will let you know how it goes.....

I had a bit of a shiny seat ( the bum bit ) had a go with the baby wipes , and no more shiny seat! i will get some proper leather care cream,but for now baby wipes do work , i did the streering wheel as well!

Yes, the baby wipes are good at removing body grease and such, but my main concern is some sort of softener to remove the creases that might appear in the long run! They are already showing up!
 
^^^^^Yeah i think we need to buy something else , wipes are good to keep in the car , i will get some leather treatment.
