Fitted a new Forge TIP on my A3 AGU K03s, car pulls much better and smoother.

New 312mm brake discs and S3 calipers/carriers...does make a diffference. I only need new pads (anyone recommend some)

then fitted an Audi TT gearshift. Makes a very noticeable difference. Less throw (iirc, 20-30%)

next mod- exhaust and downpipe and arb

if its anything like the s3 its a bit of a knuckle scraper but my tip only took me 30mins to fit,but i am a mechanic so maybe a little bit longer if your not too familiar with diy

where can i get one of these and are they expensive? are they really worth fitting for the power gain?

check my thread titled zena racing hose have a look and look on ebay £65 for a zena hose/autobahn 88 and they are just as good as samcos for half the price.:icon_thumright:

hello, was the tt short shift hard to fit? and did you get it from audi ?

ben

got mine from Audi for £21

took me 10mins to fit the gearshift. So easy I thought I was not doing it right...

£21 and 10mins for such a good mod :)

you need part number: 8N0711046 (8N0711051 has been dropped) proveided yours is a 5 speeed gearbox

BTW, regarding the hoses, can get someone to supply the hose (forge) for £105 delivered.

I love the shifter ideas, is it literally the shift weight and arm from a TT that gives a shorter throw when used on the A3 box?

For such a cheap mod it sounds too good to be true! Going to have to do that soon I think.

How did you secure your tip in the end? I ended up trimming mine thinner at the end so I could get a clamp a decent way in there, its an AWFUL job

for the TIP, when I removed the 8mm nut holding the coolant pipe to the engine block, it became easy. I didn't trim anyhting, it just went in straight.

As for the tt shift mod, you need this:

and jut read this guide to get an idea (even though it's pretty straight forward):

Prawn, you have the DBZ gear box, right? If so I'm pretty sure the TT shifter will not fit. Audi changed the cable mechanism at the box from our earlier design.

HTC, from where did you get your jetex cat-back if you don't mind me asking please?

im confused now guys!

Abdus, what year is your car? mines a 98 with an AGU.

HTC, i dont know a huge amount about box code numbers, but I was certain my box is an o2j. it was brand new from audi last christmas after the previous one blew up.

surely all boxes on AGU engines are the same? so if Abdus has fitted one, it should fit mine?

I hope so, because I've already ordered one from audi!

I was just about to call audi and order that before i read HTC's post.

Mine's a 99 AGU so same as Prawn really.

Who else makes short shifters for the A3? B&M Forge Diesel geek?

Are any of the other manufactures offering a shorter throw than the TT part?

J

I got it straight from the manufacturers --> http://www.jetex.co.uk/

Thanks

mine's an AGU with K03s upgrade.

year 2000. standard gearbox, so i think a 02j. Just make sure you order the correct part number. It should be from a TT 5-speed gearbox :)

BTW, fitting is so simple and that mod is a very very good one :D

Check the part number I gave above

Abdus,

Would you mind PM'ing me a Fitment guide to the TT shifter?

Sorry to sound like a Noob but im new to the DIY stuff..

I'll give my local Audi a bell in a bit.

Ive always wanted a TT gear knob too but at 100 GBP plus its a bit pricey i think!

Cheers

It's never easy eh?

They are all 02J, but DBZ refers to a type of 02J.............joy!

Anyway, you can have an AGU engine with the new or old style gear mech. Vw/Audi redesigned them to make adjustment a little easier. Also the new style has slightly less play.

If you have this type with the plastic adjustable ends then you are good to go.

But, if you have the older style with bolted ends, then the TT shifter mentioned above won't fit.

I have a dieselgeek short shift kit on my S3. I know that thy make one for the A3 too. It's quite a lot more expensive than the TT part at around £130 delivered but it does do both front to back and side to side reduction. The S3 already has a shorter throw than the A3 but the difference with putting the dieselgeek kit on is massive. I would highly recommend it.

so how about a TT linkage for the S3 6 speed box, anyone done this yet ?

i have one of these forsale if anyones intrested. brand new still boxed.

part number is 8N0711046

pm if intrested

did anyone find out if this is suitable for the 6 speed box? (I have done a forum search but cannot see)
