Cat C car

I just went to see a s3 and asked if it was a cat c which he said no it isnt, so i paid £100 deposit for it went home and done a HPI and its come up as cat c. Should i loose the £100 or buy the car? Any one have experiance of cat c cars and insurance?

Growl at him and then get your money back hes obviously taking the ****
PS why didn't you do the check before the deposit?
 
Well he lied, he should give you back the deposit really as he's sold it as non damaged

Problem with ex write offs is has the car been properly repaired and to the correct standard? Has it been checked and passed by and approved centre (should show on the HPI check)

If it has then insureres shouldnt be too worried about it, may be a small extra charge. Main thing is tho resale as no one really wants a car thats been in an accident where its been written off and as mentioned above, can you be sure the work done was right, and something else that was damaged wasnt noticed and hasnt been replaced?

I know I wouldnt pay anywhere near normal price for a cat C or D car
 
DONT BUY IT!!!! (unless its effin cheap) you'll never sell it on. I'd ask the bloke for your £100 back, if he says no then take bouncer-daz round with you!!!!:asskicking:
 
Take round your HPI result and offer him the appropriate price. If you stuck down 100 quid you must have liked it, so see if you can get a bargain. I'd get someone in the know to give it a good look over.
 
thanks for the replys, well i contacted him today he says he didnt know and its fine to give my money back, but then he started avoiding my calls and i went to where the car was and its gone. He must be thick cause i have hes address and i dont live far so stealing from me isnt to clever.
 
Anyones car could have been cat C or worse even if the HPi is clear. Its a gamble mate. Could have been crashed, not recorded and bodge repaired on the cheap, car back on the road, no category registered, some-one gets scammed..
 
if it is cat c it would of more than likely been fecked meaning every panel would of been changed, or it may be stolen recovered, if u do get it get a aa or rac inspection as they will tell you whats up with it, i had a leon cupra r a while back that i bought cat c and went to sell it, an rac inspector came to check the car out and told me about 100 things up with it, he made the car look like a sack of **** after he examined it, i just wish i would of knew when i went to buy it, if i was to buy any car now cat d or cat c would definately get a rac inspection
 
Well spoke to him he pretended to be some one else with hes mates phone for 20 mins. Then addmited it was him and threatned to cut me up and bragged about how much money he has. The car in question reg is Y301 GKR so unlucky to who ever brought that.
Im shocked at how much of a ***** one person can be!
 
Go to his address, see what car he drives and wait till he parks it and slash his tyres! Then call him and tell him to put his money to good use!....just a suggestion!
 
Admire how calm you are over something like this. I could think of awful things to do to someone being such an **** and a blatant thief.
£100 - Is it worth his house...?
 
I used to work for Vauxhall, Vx220 specialist.....and within 2 years, the handful of these cars that passed by me (demo's) all had been written off and repaired in the garage workshop...all because the sales managers (who borrowed them on weekends) couldnt drive the fecking things........ cruel world mate, just shows that whiter than white isn't all its cracked up to be
 
i would give the c*nt some real grief - just go round there and demand your money back with a couple of mates, at the end of the day if he doesnt know where u live whats the problem!! Or just take it on the chin and live and learn... decisions decisions!! :box:
 
I filled out the thing on the met police site, i have a piece of paper with he name and address and signature saying i gave him £100. But in the event of them doing nothing some nitromos should do the trick :) He actually threatened to throw acid in my face thats proberly the most stupid thing some one has ever said to me but he wont get away with it.
 
acid in your face!!! Who were you buying it off!! sounds more like a cavalier driver than S3
 
May i suggest a bottle of DOT5 brake fluid + Super soaker + midnight = much illegal satisfaction. lol

Brake fluid on the car would work well.... if the police dont help.... personally id go collect the money myself with some work colleagues. :angrymod:
 
on a serious note.........id hire a gully sucker and spray sewage all over his yard,sorry its late and ive just finsihed work servicing a gully sucking lorry absolute vile,:puke2:
 
Nope the police wont help so i will have to sort matters my self, the car wasnt only cat c but it was nicked when it was crashed the police informed me, so im supprised that didnt come up on the HPI.
 
Mate - £100 lost....just put it down to experiance and go and find a decent S3 - he sounds like the wrong sort of bloke to mess about with over what is a small amount of money...

Are there any Forum cars that you could look at??
 
This chap sounds like a f**king c**t to me... and don't get me started on the police not willing to help you.
Definately check the forum here for cars. I bought my turbo quattro from a chap on this forum. I checked number of posts he'd made and conversations he'd had on here then got in contact. No trouble at all - he's a top bloke and even now offers me the odd bit of advice with it if I email.

obviously the guy is a wan@er thats why some nicked it from him before he ripped you off
