headlight bulb choices?

one of my dipped headlights went this morning, so wondering what's the choices on choosing the replacement. been wanting to have all the front bulbs white for a while now (as opposed to standard yellow ish) and it's a good excuse to change them, im sure you guys know your stuff so whats the best white ones out there with greater distance than to standard?

i just fitted a HID kit onto the misus mini, 6000k and looks excellent, cant tell the difference between that and the standard xenons...... makes a world of difference mate...otherwise have a look at some xenon filled lamps (i think they are called)

also H7 are fogs + main beam, but some sites are confusing for the dipped beams, some say H1 and some say H4 which is it? my car's a facelift a3

well mine were H7...

Im waiting on delivery of my HID kit, ive gone for 4300K bulbs which ive been told are what OEM zenons are so should be no blue at all!

Also i got them off ebay for £45 delivered which isnt much more than a decent set of bulbs and should be a lot better, ill let you know how they are if you can wait that long...

Edited to say mine is a pre-facelift but with facelift FK headlights so presume your bulbs will be the same..

My dips are H1, just drag one bulb out and check.

PS The basic A3 headlights are terrible, particulary in the rain! HIDs make the world of difference.

vagcat says H1 for dipped, H7 for main beam and H7 for fogs

think it's **** that bulb websites haven't got a clue on what one goes where

Yup, my dipped are H7, aswell as the main beams! wierd.

BTW ive got a set of H1 HIDs with 4300k bulbs which i bought in error lol ( teach me to be too lazy to go look before i buy). they are brand new.
