Yesterday a friend of mine saw an 8P S3 which the owner had installed a module which adds many readings of the car vitals such as: boost, A/F ratio, 1/4 mile times, etc etc etc and shows them in the DIS just as the other data it shows.....very impressive, he filmed a video of it is very cool!

Does anyone know the name of it or seen it before? I would upload the video but it is 30 mb!

I am on the mailing list for a company that is developing such an add-on.

Perhaps it is a pre-production test unit or something.

Of interest though, be great to display ECU data on the DIS.

All I want its to update my dis so that I can see the speed in the dis and also the current gear selected for DSG.

My current 2007 model shows more than my previous 2004 model with regard to the selected gear. On the 2004 when I was in D or S it just showed PRNDS on the display where as my current 2007 show the PRNDS and the selected gear on the tight-hand end.

The same applies to the speed. No digital in 2004 but Yes in 2007 model.

From the part catalogue it looks like Audi changed the DIS display from the beginning of 2006 model year, so cars supplied from mid-2005 onwards.

Right my March 05 model has the current selected gear on the DIS but no digital speedo.

As I've pulled the stock stereo I'd like to be able to display boost, oil temp / pressure etc.

What he said :) mines a Oct 05 car.

Steve, what is the 10th digit in your VIN number. Is it a 5 or a 6.

It goes 8P56A so the 10th is a 6

So it's definitely a 2006 model year car. The current parts catalogue lists 2 main different Dash Panel Inserts. One for vehicles up to VIN number 5A200 000 which goes up to 31/5/05 and one from 6A000 001 which goes from 1/6/05.

Perhaps they made minor changes and now only list these 2 as available. There is a note saying the full VIN number must be given when a new one is ordered.

I have a 2007 A3 2.0T SB DSG and the DIS only displays the Gear but no boost, oil temp, tacho, etc.

As I am looking into getting a boost guage. This is really a good solution without upsetting the interior!
