Hi All

Can anyone recommend a product to use for piano black inserts.... want to ensure they don't scratch or smear.

Thanks

They will always get hair scratched, even just looking at the piano black seems to make scratches appear.

You can get rid of the with megs plasticX it's like their scratchX but for plastic, remove the scratches then use a bit of wax to bring them back up

Cheers for that MB.... Mine scratch every time i even brush dust off them. Hence i've looked at replacement aluminium trim.... £300 for a set. Christ!

Exactly why I changed mine.

The aluminium isn't immune to scratches though.
Mine was a bit of a mess, driver's side.

Had my car a year with piano black insert, not a scratch on them. Just clean with a soft MF cloth and wipe over with some Jeff's Werkstat interior stuff (Satin Prot or some silly name!). Comes up a treat every time!
My last S3 had piano black too, and they were immaculate even after 7 years!

Probably the least high maintenance trim is the fishscale design... Anyone opted for this? I know you can buy the kit but i've NEVER seen it spec'd on an A3. Looked ok in an A4 though.

I had the choice when I ordered my car, thought the black looked better.
Its a pain when the sun shines through the window and glints off the shiny black and the quattro badge into my eyes!

Use a lint free cloth (important) and foaming anti static cleaner, that wont scratch it or leave fluff behind. Throw away the cloth afterwards. All are available from maplins, cpc, RS, Buck and Hickman etc...

I ordered mine with piano black and I though silver alluminium would look better... Now I prefer the black piano and mine are not scratched... at least nothing much after a year of use... Trick is not to clean them very often... only when really needed... inside my car is not cleaned a lot... it os only me driving it and it doesn't get dirty that often so once a month or every two months is when it is cleaned on the inside...
