So pulled out the big bucks £8.95 :haha: and bought this.....

Looks much better I think. Some may see it as abit :puke2:, but it just makes the screen look abit better, less clutter. Plus its a twist off one, so its all good. If anyone is interested, it can be found here:-

definitly an improvement! I don't like mine as well but to be honest could not be bothered to change...
 
I did a similar thing to my 8L

Didnt stick it to the window tho, just pushed it right down between the screen and the dash! I have a real issue with displayin my tax disc too much

Deffo better than the HUUUUGE Audi one! Hope it doenst affect your Warranty and youve informed your insurance.... I am joking btw :p

I'd rather the Audi dealer one. Looks a little max power to me.
 
I think it's the attention to small details which count most. Cheap way to add a bit of personality to your motor. Some may think this particular design is a bit Max Power but the floppy plastic sleeve things you get as standard aren't exactly classy.
 
I bought one of them ( not sure if it's the exact same one ) i think it looks a lot better than the manky plastic wallett you get!

I also bought the four rings key ring, a lot less bulk in your pocket LOL

Well said PNH80, I myself was abit wary because I thought it was Max Power ish on ebay, but looks nice when you see it, plus its twist off and your right better than the audi one blocking the passenger side of the windscreen! lol. How you enjoying your car? Mine is Akoya Silver, Avus and Akoya are the same aren't they?
 
The only issue I find with mine is that if you put it too low (and close to the dash) it make it slightly time consuming to change the tax disk over. As that is only once a year though it's not the end of the world.

I had one some time ago, but it kept falling off the windscreen!
 
I have one with "Audi-Sport.net" on it

My main reason for changing is that I refuse on principle to allow my car to display any form of advertising for the dealer from whom I bought it. It's got nothing to do with whether I am satisfied with them or not - my current A4 came from Fontain and I'm a big fan of theirs - but the simple fact that I did not spent £11,000 to act as a mobile advert.

Number plates were changed for the same reason.

I'm loving the car thanks mate. Only had it a few weeks. My other options were a Golf GTI and R32 before buying this and i decided i wanted something a bit more understated. The A3 is pretty much as quick as the GTI but with 4WD like the R32 and is just a classier motor....And better finished. Need i go on?! Also, golf's tend to attract the wrong sort of attention from my experience.

Anyway...Yeah Akoya and Avus are very similar. The only difference is that Avus is a pearlescent so it appears lighter, darker, more grey, more blue etc in different lights. Not that noticeable though.

At the minute i'm looking round at some nice modifications. Currently on the list to do in the next year are 19" MTM Bimoto's (considered Sportec Mono's but they're insanely expensive!), some S3 interior trim, Haldex controller upgrade, flat bottom wheel etc etc. If i win the lottery i'll be sorted....

Oh and i've bought an Optik grille but on Avus silver i think it'll look crap to be honest...What you recon?
 
I used to have one on an old car and thought it looked a bit naff and kept falling off the screen no matter how much I cleaned and de-greased the window before hand.

Went back to a normal more subtle one.
 
I thought Akoya was pearlescent also. It also changes colour, goes more purple, sometimes appears grey etc. I don't think the black grille suits the colour. Hence I'm going with the S3 front end and S3 grille to match my mirrors and roof bars!

They're both the same price as an option (£485 i think) but Akoya is listed as a metallic on the Audi website and Avus is listed as pearlescent....Look the same to me though!

Dude, with all these mods wouldnt it have been cheaper to buy and S3 and stick a 2.0tdi lump in ? :idea::shrug::p:w00t:

Cheers for posting that...Very interesting! Looks better than i thought it would too...although still not convinced it's better looking than the standard grille. It looks ok in that photo because the car looks very grey, in a different light the car can look quite blue/purple... And the black might not look so good!
 
My tax disc holder is just a 99p jobbie from sainsbury's or halfrauds - used to go for the richbrook ones but cant be bothered any more with the hassle!

I have one similar except you can remove the dsic from the top without undoing the screws.

I bought one similar to the one on fleabay, with a smaller magnetic ring, does the job and looks sleak. Plus it had the audi rings on the back

Personally I had a bad experience with the last one i had, the one I had on the last car used to spend more time sliding around the dash than on the window. I know its only once a year but it was a pain to replace disc, and once the clear sticky pads loose there stickyness you have had it.
 
Yeh, I made sure it was a twist off type before I clicked "confirm"....

And if you clean the area of the windscreen and the holder itself with a little white spirit and leave to dry before sticking it to it, then the pads should never get unstuck.

As i said above Avus is a pearlescent colour, when there's minimal light it looks purple blue but in full daylight and direct sun its titanium/anthracite silver, no purple in it whatsoever. I see it every day so i know! Good colour though.
