i have my rears tinted already but i want some legal tint at the front, mainly not to attract attention of the police and prevent smash and grab. from what i remember rears were the complicated bit i had them done by a bloke called Liam who was advertising here about 2 years ago around leicester way, he did a tidy job on my rear windows and put some front ones on but the front were too dark. ( if your still on here Liam IM me )

how difficult is the job for front windows IIRC it is cleaning them with fairy liquid, wetting the film and smoothing it over with a sponge and cutting the edes to be about half a cm over the window. then heating for a bit

wheres legal tint available from, anything 70%+ IIRC

sorry for the delay , not been on line for a while ,
I had tints all round and on the front it was as light as you can go , but .

got pulled over and VOSA checked and it fail a light meter test .
he said as they are done from the factory you cannot add anymore , made me remove them and take it to a police station to be checked .
really cracking down on it in cambs area.

does not answer your question but may help.

i deal with liam quite a bit pm me if anyone is interested in the leicester area or near. He did my tints about 2 years ago and they are still mint, have my fronts done, and have never had any issues with police!

no tints on the front are legal as the standard glass is tinted from factory i think legal tint is 75% which is factory tint! i have 54% tint all round and police never really bother me i had 34% on my old car and got pulled and had to peel them off!

I need to get rid of my tints on my lease car as its going back.... are they 'easy' to get off?? Howd you do it?

I understand the rear screen one is the worst? Or should I just send it back with the tints and pay them when they say I gotta remove them?

i removed them off a seat leon.. you u just have to get the tint at an edge. the film peels off very easy. but once that is off there is a layer of glue left on the window! that is a pain in the **** to remove!!

AS preptone or AS tar and glue remover that should sort the glue out:arco:

cheers guys, didnt bother in the end... just got rid of the car with them on. Heard the glue was a real pain. ;)

Front window tint and windscreen legally if i recall is something like The legal limits for window tinting are a
minimum of:
● 70 per cent VLT for side windows
● 75 per cent VLT for windscreens on
vehicles first used after April 1985 and
70 per cent VLT for those first used prior
to that date.

VLT is visual light transmission and is the minimum that must get through. Around here there is a craze for obvious illegal tints and the police dont seem interested. however the police are not interested as they dont carry VLT meters.
