Sprayed (plastidip) my grille surround black as I hate chrome. Just waiting for it to dry before refitting.

Also been collecting parts for things that need attention like CV boot, drop links, dipstick guide, fuel filter. Hopefully purchasing some interior LEDs, shortshifter, spacers and forge 008 in the coming weeks.

Had my roofliner re-trimmed, also had to do the A pillars and sunroof sliding cover to match...

Ok guys, Car got hit by a lorry and went up over a roundabout!
All been repaired now and has had its 1st wash since it’s been back, It let me down yesterday as it over heated due to a fuse on the cooling fan.
Gotta love the 8ls !!
Here some pics and it’s looking it’s best since ive owned it.
Happy days.

Painted my calipers silver to tidy them up, also fitted the plastidipped grille surround and while I had it jacked up decided to try polishing the back box.

Updated my RNS-e to SDS, quite impressed by the voice command capabilities of a head unit that’s over 10 years old.

Thoroughly washed, dried, polished and Sorned my S3 today, garaged it for the winter.

Its looking great. Stupidly forgot to take any photos.

However I noticed the O/S/F wing is going to be needing some attention soon, a couple of rust bubbles trying to make an appearance. A (very reputable) local body shop recently quoted me £1200 to get the paintwork back upto scratch. Whole front end (stonechips) and rear bumper need attention really.

Struggling to justify it at the moment. Will see what next year brings.

Wired up my multifunction module ready for my steering wheel install.

followed by a nice glass of red and some light reading! I’m getting far to old before my time! I’m only 31

Starting stripping it down for a full respray and tidy up. Will be replacing a few little niggling bits too.

Came to this as the roof rails suddenly started rusting really badly, came on all of a sudden and it's been done before looking at the paint, so it's getting done properly this time.

Started trying to vinyl wrap the rear bumper insert but struggled so wrapped the front grill surround instead.

Have you tried turning it round? the contacts are generally polarised so only work one way round

<tuffty/>

Yeah tried turning it round. I don’t think the glovebox light was working before I changed it. Is there a separate fuse for this light?

An eventful day but progressive!

Swapped out my old brittle standard TIP for a much much better conditioned one, cars not running sweet as a nut. Big shout out to @hydro s3 for helping my out.

Also got my MFSW and RNS-E all kitted out with SDS. There is a slight lack of commands I’d like to of seen available, but much better than having to type stuff in via the RNS-E dials, etc.

Little disappointed that my FIS-Controller didn’t work straight off the bat, I’ll need to look into it more as to what’s causing it to intermittently work. I suspect the RNS-E is clashing with it somehow, maybe a firmware update will sort it out, not sure.

Gave the old girl a good clean before putting her into the lock up and finally got my coding sorted for the “chirp” when locking the car.

Fitted my TT 8N pedal covers as well just to add more shinny stuff, as if that steering wheel isn’t enough! Haha

Did the polo rear wiper conversion today, much cleaner looking that the original rear one

Polo wiper

before

Old

after

New

Ordered a short shifter earlier. Hopefully it comes in the morning so I can fit it while using my works garage and pit.

Changed drop links and attempted the fuel filter but was unsuccessful as one of the clips just wouldn’t come off no matter how I pushed the button down on it...

Yeah that’s common mate, I had the same problem a couple years ago. Try cleaning it with some brake cleaner, make sure there’s no grit in there and then lube it up with some WD40, I used a pair of thin nosed pliers and eventually it came apart.... just don’t break it!

Getting there finally. Had a bit of a nightmare with a few little bits but should be back on the road tomorrow. Parts ordered not turning up etc.

Had it fully in primer before I left today but didn't get any more pictures, mate was staying on tonight until it was sprayed and I'm going back in the morning to build it back up.

I sooooo need mine painted :(

<tuffty/>
My mates had his body shop 20 years and it's the first car I've ever needed to actually get some paint. The roof rust was doing me in, every time I looked at it, it was getting worse!!
Going to seal under the rails tomorrow and then refit them so water can't sit under them

When I removed them it was soaked underneath. Absolute crap design
