I have a 2013 TT (8J) with 1.8 engine. I want to code rear lights to my front LED DRLs (Scandinavian setting) but which module is it in and what are the steps to reach it? I have read it is in module 46 (Central Conv.) or module 09 (Cent. Electr). One odd thing is that when I did an Auto Scan yesterday module 46 came up as "no response from controller" even though it is shown in the Auto Scan. And when I did the adpmap, module 46 was missing and no map was produced.

If anyone could post the series of steps (Module, Description, Byte, Bit etc) it would be appreciated as I'm a VCDS newbie. And does anyone have any ideas about the "no response" message?

Thanks

09 and 46 merged to become 09 only in MY10. Look in there and you’ll find what you need, it’s all documented if you’re using the latest genuine release of VCDS which is 17.8.0

So for my MY2013 it should be in module 09 I assume. That is very helpful - thanks. I have the genuine cable and v17.8.0 software but when you say "it’s all documented" where is that because despite searching on the Ross Tech site I can't find any information about actual mods. I'm sure I'm being dense but could you point me as to where to find this information. Or is it in the Label File pop-up? Thanks.

When you go into the coding for 09 the Long Coding Helper will display the information about that particular controller.

Ah now I understand! I'll check it later in the week. Many thanks. Does it actually say "Scandinavian lights" or suchlike do you know?

OK so I went into module 09 and the only reference to DRLs was in Byte 18 where it is currently set on 58 -
"58 Lighting: Audi TT (8J) with Xenon & LED DRLs (Front) Rest of World (RoW)"

There is a 59 option:
"59 Lighting: Audi TT (8J) with Xenon & LED DRLs (Front/Rear) Rest of World (RoW)"

This would seem logical BUT there is a dire warning on the screen which says "Please do NOT perform any Modifications on this Byte unless absolutely necessary ...- I have attached the screen.

So is changing from 58 to 59 the correct change and am I safe to make this change?

Anybody done this mod? And if so was it successful?

Yes I have the genuine cable but I have asked a)Ross Tech themselves and b)Ross Tech Forum but no-one can give me a definitive answer. I'm amazed that no-one else has ever wanted to/has done this before. Thanks for your comment though.

Pete, maybe @DJAlix could advise you. :)

Thanks Sandra. I have been in touch with Alex but he has never done this mod on a TT before and can't say definitively that it won't have a negative effect. But he can fix it if it goes wrong - see his comments below:

Worst case is that you change something and it has an effect which you don’t want and you might not be able to change this back. If this is the case then someone like myself or an Audi dealer would need to SVM the module (software version management) in order to effectively flash it back to stock / factory settings.

If Alex was nearer me I'd definitely try it but London is a long way from Devon! But maybe I'll just give it a go anyway ......

Hi, If it is the case you make an ammendment and it goes wrong , and you would be unlucky if it did, then any dealer and most good VAG indies would be able to resolve it for you but of course it would probably be a little more expensive that way.
Ross Tech put that warning in there as somebody somewhere has potentially had an issue when they have made changes. It's very difficult for them to know exactly what combination of coding and modules may cause an issue so they go with the general warning. So they aren't able to definitively tell you that you will be good.
