Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

Get your dealer to put you on one of their track days, I'm going week after next to drive the TTRS and RS3 back to back.

Perhaps it's your age AN, as you say though funny that they are happy to sell you one!

Tried that, haha! I got invited this year, got to be 21 and I am 20 so I had to watch my friend drive all the cars.

I have been told 25, but I've also driven S3's, RS3's, RS4, RS5 and S5 without question. It's a case of discretion, they always have the insurance but it's whether they want to exercise it.

It is terrible that they are happy to sell one to me, but say I can't drive one.

My dealer has offered me one for 24 hours, it's just the small matter of getting one! They are now telling me they will have one by the end of September, but I don't believe it.

Finally I've found a pic of an RS3 Saloon in the spec I want (Floret Silver + Black Pack). I think I could get away with no red brakes then, won't get ACC either so no radar in the grill.

Looks amazing.
Floret is a stunning colour & when combined with black pack, privacy, mirrors etc it looks brilliant.
It keeps looking great for longer too being silver.
Last cars were panther black and estoril blue.
One light rain shower and they looked dirty.

True just didn't expect the little changes to add up to that much. Pleasant surprise.

Sounds like the FL is great then.
Not sure I could justify the extra £5k plus £000's to change though either.
I would also need convincing the brake issues have been 100% sorted.

Really tough shout for PFL owners Snake.

Yep. Likely to wait for new model RS3 or perhaps RS4 but will wait to see what people think of it first vs Audi teaser clips.

The RS4 looks great but IMO still doesn't look at good as the B8.5 looks wise and the engine is pretty poor.. too quiet, it's more like a Rolls Royce engine noise :tearsofjoy:

Yeah I don't like the sound either although hoping that in real life it may be better.

Absolute joke! Love how Audi are allowed to sell me a car but won't let me drive one.
It's you, it's definitely you.....
Everyone else on here has driven it now.
I heard even Stevie Wonder got to drive one when he was in the Country last week. Some Audi dealer in South Wales apparently.

I just can't find one to drive! Everybody has said I need to be 25+ :/

The closest I have gotten to driving one is Milton Keynes, it's a 320 mile round trip.

I'd at least get the black alloys on the cheaper option. At least then you'll have a car that looks and sounds the part.

I could always get them after. Doesn't it cost around £1k total to add those alloys? I'd rather pay that on the pano roof.

Looks like UKcarbroker have the most discount, they give me £2,546.00 discount on the expensive one, £49,859.00 it says but it doesn't look like it raised the price for increased tax band. For the cheaper one, £46,519.75 and £2,370.25 discount. DtD give me £2,347 discount on the expensive one, meaning £50,607.95 (this one looks like it did increase tax band). Cheaper one they give £2,225.10 discount, meaning £46,694.90. Not much difference in the discounts. The options I think are the least essential to me are the Phone box, Mag ride and folding mirrors, so could save some on them.

Can you not at least get a passenger ride in one with a salesman driving?

Must be ****** frustrating.
Though it's not like you are excited about getting one.... :)

Holy bat ********...

A new record?
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201709139250725

£63,390 !!

... and they have chopped off the handy hatch and not even painted it! Crikey.

Still, you get a private plate - LOL

A new RS3 could be 2020, possibly even 2021 .... you prepared to wait THAT long ?

I reckon a new platform S3 should be tretty tasty and could be out 2019 perhaps ?
If so that could tempt me next.

Otherwise hard to know what direction to take after the RS3.
S4 is possibly the most tempting for me and could be due a facelift around March 19 when I will change.

Current platform S3 / RS3 will be at the end of its life by then so no sense getting another at that point.

2020 is not even 5 years after I bought it so not really that long @Snake Pliskin I suppose the Apple Generation wouldn't wait ;)

Just wait! Your car will be here soon enough. The wait will make it an even sweeter moment when it arrives.

If its 2021 then it would be 6 years.
I reckon a new car every 3 years is pretty reasonable.
I am usually ready to change after 3 years for something new.

I usually change every 2 years, just don't see the need now as RS3 really is that good. I like that it keeps getting slated by the "track drivers" as that keeps it exclusive for us in the know ;)

I'm in no rush to get the new RS3. After driving the Merc C300 Cabriolet for a week I'm appreciating the S3 more. It does do everything well and is as fast as you need. Hopefully I can test drive the RS3 to see if its worth the early change or one of you S3 facelift owners write about the differences.

I probably could, but I have to question is it worth a 320 mile round trip :(

I rang around today and one of the dealers in group with mine, has literally just registered a demonstrator and my dealer is looking into the logistics of getting it down to them for me to have for 24 hours :D

That would be mighty impressive of them if they went to those lengths to give you a 24 hour drive - AFTER you have placed an order.
The cynic in me wonders if the Dealer is just giving lip service, with no intention to get the car.
Good on them if they do though.
I've got a good relationship with my Dealer & they have got a car over from another local Dealer for us to test drive when we were considering cars.
Depends where the other Dealer is located ... how far away are they ?

It was agreed when I ordered to take a car "for the day", thinking 9-5 but 2 weeks ago they said when they get one that I would have a 24 hour lend.

I have asked for morning to the next evening, but that's a no it will be a maximum of 24 hours. The sales manager expressed how they would never do this due to the high risk car, being left out overnight wherever I leave it basically.

The dealers are around an hour apart, in the same group. The sales manager is liaising with the other dealer now to see when we can get it down for and for how long. I've given them Friday, then Sunday to Wednesday so fingers crossed!!

I find it amazing other dealers say no chance can I drive one, then this dealer are letting me taking it for 24 hours full insured.. wow! But if insurance is ever an issue, I can get temporary cover easily and have done this before when I had an RS3 for 8 hours.

I had this for weeks after talking with audi uk about 10 times they managed to sort it when they put the right email address in and did not spell it wrong. Worth checking details with them.

Thanks, I've tried them three times now, and confirmed my post code/order checks out. The last one send me off to audi.com/myaudi which was never going to help.

Ha ha ....

I remember the DAILY ritual of checking the Audi tracker HOPING for a change of status :)

7 months I waited for mine ... so you Guys have it easy lol :)

Anyone know the size of the front badge on the FL RS3 - the audi rings, found out they are not all the same across the ranges.

The Audi online guys and check for me and have confirmed my build date moved forwards by 5 weeks which was nice..., but it would be much easier if I could track this myself...!

I have bigger problems now anyway as my wife backed into my TT this morning which I am due to sell to help finance the RS3 :hopelessness:

I have an 2017 s3 with 400bhp stronic, I then drove a 2017 rs3 back to back and was dissapointed if I'm honest. The exhaust honestly doesn't sound much different to the s3 (I have a Milltek cat back tbf). There was no pops or bangs whatsoever (sports exhaust). And it wasn't quite as fast (50ft torque down). The only thing I took away from the test drive was that I love the alcantara steering wheel.

So the only thing that can justify the rs3 for me is hoping that an aftermarket exhaust sorts the sound out, it will remap to 470+ and the exclusivity of an rs3. Oh and the steering wheel :)

Sssshhh... don't let @AudiNutta see this!

Sounds like you would be better offer purchasing an older PFL that has already been modified to your tastes.

Thanks, fortunately it's just minor/cosmetic and nothing that can't be fixed! Was due to photograph it at the weekend... Typical!

I've kicked the dog a few times today already though.

Hopefully coming from a standard S3, I will feel a bigger difference.

Same as AudiNutta, my S3 is stock with no mods so I'm more likely to feel any differences.
