For me I'm too picky for the alloy insurance, most of the repairs seem to be sub standard which would be fine for handing back to a dealer but for me owning the car no... I am so careful with my alloys, diamond cuts are kerb magnets
I have 2 tiny chips in one of mine on the edge, where the alloy slipped out of my hands when I took it off to clean
It's one of those that's best left, because the whole wheel could end up worse off with a reburb. God knows why I've just added the optional wheels for the RS3, I were worried the paint only finish would look cheap on a car of that price.
I think I will definitely look at tyre insurance, the fronts on the RS3 (now 255/30) are £190-£220 each, I don't think I could stomach £400 for two tyres if I got a puncture in one. Knowing my luck it would be an irreparable puncture after 2000 miles haha.
How do the companies pay out do you know? Do you have to pay for the tyre and then claim it? Would be a pain to have to wait a week for a claim to process for a tyre for example.
