Right so i had an independent BMW technician and Saab Master Technician work on my previous cars so who will i get for my Audi? Does anyone know of any Independent Audi specialists in Northern Ireland?

Martin motors in Ards - top guys!

Not sure but we used them for a mis-fuelling issue with a diesel Peugeot and they were very good.

I've also got a friend in Ballyclare, not a specialist, but a very good mech. Looked after my BMW. CW Auto Repairs.

Boys I'm having a mare here. My a4 b8 2.0 tdi automatic had the dredded judders for a wee while and on sunday ...you guessed it, gearbox malfunction, loss of drive and reverse and seems as if I'm gonna need a new gearbox!!! Heard all sorts of horror stories and have seen prices. I'm in lisburn and hearing apparently that the only fella who can fix these is in Coleraine direction. Anyone any input? Prices for reconditioned? Trustworthy source? All apprecoated.

Has it had a gearbox oil and filter change at any stage?
Sounds obvious but there was a boxster on wheeler dealers that was doing all sorts of stupid stuff with its gearbox and a basic service sorted it. I can put you in touch with my mate in Ballyclare if you want some advice.

Yeah mate its serviced and maintained on the clock every time. Fairly certain that would have been done. Do you know if you get your gearbox repaired, which is what's happening, can I rely on that to last another lot of years or is it sell time

More than likely it'll need a mechatronics unit. You need it diagnosed first however!

The guy who does all my work is in Ballymoney, ex VW & Seat for 15+ yrs. I can give you his number if you want.

Cheers mate but it's on its way to burnsides in Coleraine. Came highly recommended by various other garages. Will my repaired gearbox be reliable enough tho or is it a ticking time bomb

I'm not sure on the gearbox. The wife's Jag XF hasn't had it touched in 5 years as any part of a regular service.
On the reliability front, I guess you'll just need to wait and see the outcome of the diagnosis.
Hopefully it'll be OK.

DubTECH in Ballymoney, as mentioned by Darren, also does all my work. First class & highly recommended with VAG stuff.
