Hi,
I do have the same problem as you had BetyOops.
Everything is installed as it should - followed by instructions provided in this topic. Coming / Leaving home function is working fine together with light sensor. I set "Brightness threshold for Coming Home / Leaving Home" value to "3" (adaptation channel 13) - below that lights are turning on / above it there're not.
Unfortunately driving lights are ON all the time, even if measure value block 8 shows "Brightness = 7 (maximum)".
Measure value block 16 shows Light sensor -Lin signal = ON (on=dark).
I live in Poland where for last few days is cloudy and a bit dark for the whole day. I didn't have a chance to test it during a sunny day. Do you think it matters? Maybe more IR light with right level of intensity and light distribution angel. Does it matter?

Just bought an 11 plate Audi rs3 that does not have auto lights or wipers pack (no auto option on light switch, no auto dim rear view mirror).
If I contact Audi Manchester with your list above for the conversion and buy the appropriate windscreen buy would that be enough to give me auto lights and wipers option back? I.e. is your list for an rs3 11 plate or would I simply go through your list a d ask them to duly priced and part numbers for rs3 equivelant set up. I have someone who can retrofit all this . My RS 3 already came with the Auto Lights & Wipers as a factory fitment.
The list of parts needed & instructions to fit Auto Lights & Wipers were for an (8P Chassis) MY08 S3 whereas the RS 3 is an (8P & 8V Chassis)
However, some of those parts are common to both Chassis types -
8R0 857 511 4PK - Auto-dimming mirror (black) £177.47
8K0 955 559 D - Rain Sensor £145.56
4F0 907 671 B - Retaining clip for sensor £2.32
4F0 857 593 J 4PK - Plastic cover for wiring (black) £4.72
4F0 857 593 G 4PK - Cable guide $4.66
The Lights switch will be different & the wiring to the CE module will be different. Sorry, I don't have the wiring details for an (8P & 8V Chassis) CE module, but I would have thought you'd be able to find them on here quite easily?

Just to update this thread, this is a real easy upgrade for any Audi A3 facelift 8P3 2009 onwards. So S3, RS3 etc.
Don't need a headlight switch, original DRL switch will work and is already wired up. No coming home button required.
Only wiring required is the tap to PIN 33 Socket B for the LIN bus for your rain sensor.
Enable coding.
Thats it.
Retrofitters may want to adjust their prices when quoting for work for the above models..

I really need to get mine finished. I've had all the main parts for ages and basically just need the screen.
I did go into autoglass who were ok to do the windscreen, as it has a decent chip on it, but would only do like for like according to chassis number.
I also want a genuine screen does any one know the cost of this?

Been a while, I have a 2010 s3 with auto lights, wipers, interior and exterior dimming mirrors. I wanting to upgrade the mirror to the high beam assist and compass mirror. Anyone have the part Number for this mirror and does it require any extra wiring.

Finally got a new screen fitted so I will be completing this once I get my ageing head around the wiring!
As my car is an MY10 I believe the wiring is slightly different to the earlier models.
This is what I've figured so far (correct me if I'm wrong)
6 pin connector from the mirror
1 - Fuse 4
2 - Earth
3 - CE module block C pin 28
4 - door module .....not needed as I don't have dimming door mirrors
5 - door module .....not needed as I don't have dimming door mirrors
6 - illumination for the button on the mirror ......... pin 1 In the overhead interior light connector?
3 pin connector from the sensor
1 - connection 1 (30A) in the main wiring harness.......no idea where that is! (Can I just tap in somewhere else?)
2 - earth
3 - CE module block B pin 33
I have the kufatec loom without any instructions or loom markings
I take it I will need some repair wires to make the connections to the CE module?

Is pin 6 so the mirror knows when the inerior light is on and so doesn't dim?

That's what it's meant to do but in my old A3 I couldn't get that to work. Also the wiring diagrams doesn't have pin 6 listed anywhereIs pin 6 so the mirror knows when the inerior light is on and so doesn't dim?

Just finished the install, I believe it's all working but not had chance to check the operation properly. A cup of water on the sensor works though lol

Ok does anyone know IF its poss to get a headlight switch that does auto lights, front and rear fogs, CL lights that has a chrome switch? ive bought one and when i connect it up my lights are one all the time, is this coding or is this because the switch is no good?

All fitted, mirror is dimming, and when the wiper stalk is in position 1 (now auto wipe) the wiper arms move when i turn the ign off, so i think its all working
Hi all, I am currently doing this retro-fit in a 2011 A3 (2.0 TDI) but I am having problems figuring out the location for pin 3 on the six pin socket from the mirror. I have seen various info on what the location should be:

Mine works a treat, it's a bit awkward soldering the cables into the CE unit but with a little patience it's not too bad
Ours being the 8P3, is wired different to the earlier models, hence the confusion

Well it's been another long install. Collecting parts, reading other threads on the subject and generally pestering Ash187 for info but i've finally finished my Auto-lights/wipers etc install! (Well apart from some trim for the rear view mirror).
I had the new screen fitted on friday afternoon by Peter from windscreen replacement cost, price list to view online. He's been fitting windscreens for 20+ years and i'm really pleased with the job he did. So if you're looking to do this and can't wait for a stone to chip/crack your screen I can recommend him.

We had to dodge the rain to get this done. Luckily, once the old screen is out, it was only about a 10 minute job before the new one was in.

The mirror is off the A3 cabs and the TT I believe. Might swap it for the A3/S3 one at some point. This one only cost me £25 off ebay though. As you can see, I still need the trim pieces to hide the wiring.

Not had much chance to play with it but it seems to be working. Set the switch to 'auto' covered the sensor and the lights came on. Uncovered the sensor and a few seconds later the lights went out.
I'm sure this install will scare a few people and it is quite involved. As long as you know which end of a soldering iron to hold it's not too bad though. I used a loom from Kufatec which made life much easier.
Need to find some tunnels to go drive through.
Oh yeah, and a big thanks to Ash187 who was a massive help answering all my questions!

You can get these parts (above) from any Audi dealer or TPS
You'll need to make up the wire loom (using the repair wires - cut in half & extended) from the coming home connector to the CE module - see my post Auto lights/wipers/dimming rear view mirror & CH/LH install complete! in this thread for connection detail of the coming home button.

thank you for all of your information, ive got the car wired up auto dim mirrors wipers, headlight and coming home button all wired wipers are working and the auto dim mirror is this normal? i thought they all had to be coded do you have the settings that you have to code the headlights on the computer my friend has a garage he has had it on the snap on modis ultra computer but has not got the settings do you know what settings he will need do you have any photos or information, my s3 is a prefacelift 08 reg any help would be much appreciated. thanks guy

From memory, the only bits that need coding are the Auto lights & Coming home lights.

Got car back from friend garage today the auto dimming mirror light up and you can turn it off but it not dimming do you know if it hasto be code the same as the head lights to work thanks Guy
Hello, just now discover this fantastic retrofit, i have the same car as you i have done the same wiring as you but for s not working! In vcds i check all the time rls sensor i m pressing do it after say code accepting but nothing happens afterwards i am going again to centr electr. And rls sensor is unchecked!!!! Totally confused, any help will appreciated
