Rhyso's Posh Golf

Sooooo the Crappy Forge pipework saga this week continued.......

Went to have the EGR pipe fitted to find that the Forge item is TOO BIG and the profile is wrong. When fitted the pipe collapses in on itself making it more restrictive than the standard pipe :aggressive:

Tried trimming it to make it fit (too late to send back) but it made no difference. End result is I have a new standard pipe on order at a cost of £45..........

On the plus side the Aldi passed its MOT today with NO advisories

Wow havent updated this for a while.........

Urm its cost me a fair chunk of money the last few weeks

Its had
New inlet manifold
Two near rear callipers
Complete set (soon) of tyres

Still got my weird ESP issue which i started a thread a while back but no one replied :(

Inlet manifold leaking or cracked was it mate? Common on the 170TDi and not cheap!

Shows how little I do to the Audi compared to my old Golf......

Had a few issues with it lately
Downpipe bracket snapped before Christmas leaving two lovely holes in the exhaust. Prospeed in Cardiff did a lovely repair job

Then just after Christmas my battery died on me. £50 and a bit of swearing later that was sorted

Had a service in January and then two days later my ESP light came on and stayed on. Scanned it with VCDS and I had the common G201 brake pressure sensor fault. In days gone by that would mean a new ABS pump and an expensive repair bill

Did some digging and found that VW, Seat and Skoda repair the problem FOC (there is now a repair kit available). Booked it into Audi and had it confirmed as the brake sensor pressure sensor. Cost of £383 to fix

So I called Audi UK and explained that the 'lesser' brands of the VAG group were offering this repair FOC so why cant Audi. A few phone calls between Audi UK and the dealer and it was agreed to fix the problem BUT I would have to pre-pay £160 for an oil change as my car wasn't bought from a dealer and hasn't been serviced by any dealers. At those prices can you blame me!!

I reluctantly agreed and so picked my car up yesterday morning. I sat down, paid for some parts I had ordered and signed the warranty claim form. The lady handed me my keys and said goodbye. No mention of paying for the service!!! I left rather quickly!!

So its time to give it some love. Mate of mine runs a detailing company called Urban Details so its booked in with him at the end of this month :)

Results of some TLC by my mate Grant at Urban Details

And then the other day a large box arrived

Replaced the fronts with more UniRoyal Rainsport 3's; last pair did 15,000 miles and the performance was on a par with the Goodyear F1's and Michelin Pilot Sports I ran previously :)

So on Saturday I did a deal for this

http://www.cardifftradesales.co.uk/audi-a6-avant-tdi-s-line-tronic-quattro-5dr-5373700

So the A3 will soon be leaving me after 5 years and 75,000 miles together :(

Overall its been a really nice car but the last few months I've gotten tired of the harsh S Line suspension. For me its been the biggest let down of the car. Otherwise its been an excellent companion

Had very few problems during my ownership. Biggest expense was replacing the inlet manifold followed by two rear calipers. Other than that its just needed regular servicing :)

Got a few bits for sale so please check out the classifieds ;)

Got the rear led lights, genuine carpet mats and some Whispbar roof bars for sale :)

Congrats! The new A6 looks fantastic. Any ideas on mods you might make? Black powder coat on those wheels?

Quick Question - did you ever switch out the S-Line springs on the A3 or were you running stock? Mine is booked in to have Eibach pro's fitted - hoping it rectifies the ride issue as I'd also like to keep my A3 for 5 years and 75,000 miles. :)

Also, did you get a good price on the Sportback?

Thinking about one of these for mine. Don't suppose you'd be willing to sell it before you trade it in? Presumably it's all up-to-date?

Hi mate

Not sure about the wheels for the A6. I'll decide when I actually collect it; waiting on the DVLA to sort the paperwork for the plate out as the A6 had a private plate on it

Sold the satnav Sunday night to another member so that's gone already sorry

Never swapped the suspension. I have top mounts and rear bump stops in the shed which are brand new. Will put them up for sale shortly

Got £4200 as a trade in against the A6. Could have gotten more privately but the stuff I am selling / sold will make up the difference anyway :)

Those springs will fix the ride.

Perhaps speak to Damian @DPM about some new dampers too if your's are old and tired :)

Agh shame. Ok. Out of interest, how did you find the nav? Is it worth the conversion? I've heard mixed reviews although yours looks like the very lastest edition - how much did it to go for? Ta.

When I bought it about 4 years ago i thought it was pretty decent. It looks good in the dash and integrates with the phone and DIS etc. It never failed to get me to my destination :)

Sold it for £375 as I wanted a quick sale
