Just picked up my SB today and drove home down the A3 playing with the toys . Not sure if it picked up the Hindhead Tunnel so was wondering what the latest version is and how do I check that I have the latest version installed .

Also how do you get it upgraded for free if I need to ?

If you go into the MMI Setup (Menu button then top right soft button), scroll down and there's an option for version info and it's in there somewhere. Mine shows the version by country and they all say 2012/2013 so will be the latest version as they only update them once a year.

As for updates, I doubt they'll be free somehow. With the older systems which stored the maps on DVDs, you had to buy the updated discs from Audi at circa £200 a pop! Whilst the systems in the A3 store the maps on SD card or hard disk, I can't see Audi suddenly offering updates for free really.

It definitely might be something worth asking especially with the Tech Pack as this may be updated along with software updates applied to the car... You never know?

Mine is 2012/2013 so will double check the A3 Hindhead Tunnel, next time I go through it .

Loving the tech pack larger screen / DAB etc , all so easy to use . Even managed to pair my phone on the first attempt !!

Does the Sat Nav have auto re-route planning.....when driving home for the first time it kept telling me to do a U-turn

If it works out that you're better off doing a u-turn then it'll instruct you to do that. I haven't experienced this yet but in my old A3 it did that fairly often.

Well , drove up the A3 today .

I was correct no tunnel on the 2012/2013 tech pack satnav. The tunnel opened 1st August 2011 so not too impressed that a new car has info this out of date .

I will check exact software details and then progress the issue with the Leasing company or Audi UK and let you know how I get on.

Out of interest, I noticed a while ago on the VW website it mentions something about that on the new MK7 Golf with the "Media" navigation comes with 3 years worth of updates for the maps included.

Are the Audi updates also included ?

So after 3 years of updates, you'll probably just about have the maps that represent the roads on the day you bought the car ;-)

I have dropped Audi UK a line on this with my complaint . Out of interest this is where I end up if I follow the directions up the A3 towards the M25

I noticed today that on myAudi they are showing 2015/2016 maps. But when I went to download the complete map it says there is no download for the requested map update. But the individual maps are available.

Bring on Android Auto. Google are capable of updating their maps in decent time and don't charge you £300 for an update, the old manufacturers' sat nav update cartel is finished.
