hi there peeps, iv got a B6 Cabriolet and i understand that it is possible to do a B7 front end onto the b6 as howdy_quattro has done.

the only question i have is what exactly do i need to do this? as far as i knw, i need a front bumper, bonnet, wings and slam panel of the B7, is this all i need?

i am going to have a body shop do the work, but need an exact list of what i need so i can source the parts,,

im hoping howdy_quattro or some of u out there who have also done it can give me a list of the parts needed

many thanks,

Ive been looking for that Info you asked for mate but Cant find it...
PM Howdy, he might still have it, think it was on my old Laptop!

headlights and foglights too...? Im sure thats all he used mate.

MoAudi - what colour is your cab? Got any pics?

I might be interested in your outgoing kit - I want a different look to the front of mine, but more just a beefier B6 look, specifically NOT after the B7 look :D

oh yh forgot the headlights and fogs lol, how much do u guys reckon i shud be paying to get these parts, i rang a guy today and he wanted £1800 for the whole front end, seemed a bit dear to me?

so i dont need to change the bonnet struts, bumper guides and so on?

thanks :)

I was quoted £1200 from the dealer (A friend works there though) for bonnet, bumper, grill, fenders and all the other small-things I would need to make it look perfect. Then I would have to add headlights and fog-lights aswell - but I'll be going for the S6 Led fogs for my cab.
And yeah, this is the B7 RS4 parts.. :)

Will be doing this transplant this summer + some 20"'s, and ill do the rear panels in RS4 next winter..
Is gonna look goooood! :)

'03 "RS4" cab. :D

thats sounds like a proper project, be sure to post some pics when its done :)

the only question i have is, do b7 parts (bonnet, bumper, slam panel) off a saloon or avant fit the b6 cabriolet, i knw the wings are different for the b7 can but not sure on the other parts

cheers guys :D

Hi all , help required?? I've just done as described my b7 conversion but my new headlights don't seem to want to work properly??? Do they need recoded?? Thanks

I think you will find the loom is different and you need to either figure out the wire swap around or go on ebay and buy a adapter.

These are the wiring diagrams for both B6 and B7. Hope that helps.

Good aftednoon, just about to get the bits for my conversion. Is there anything that i need that might bot be obvious?
Also, if i replace the wings, will the lines still line up?
The donor car is a b7 cabriolet.

Cheers
Ben

Yes, the lines will be fine as long as parts are from B7 cab. Only Saloon & Avant have a different line. You'll need a B7 slam panel and make sure that it is from a convertible

Great thanks for your help :)

Regarding the headlights, are the plugs different? Is is worth cutting the plugs off the donor car?

Anything else worth getting, as it is a complete car at the moment. The engine is just f**ked!!!

Hi, donnor car is graphite grey.

bear in mind i'm not sure on what all the bits under the bonnet are .... Regarding the slam pannel, there looks like theres 2 radiotors, and a big 'U' shaped bit like a heating element in a kettle.
Do i have to disconnet them, what are they, and what do i fill em back ip with?

Yeah, the bigger one is a radiator and smaller one is an aircon condenser. All the funny shaped piping is for the AC so be careful not to break it.

Thanks for that :)

How do replace the coolant, and bleed the system?

The slam panel is quite different at the bottom to the original one!!!! Did you have to cut yours?

Also, the slam panel doesn't want to fit at the top, as the light housing restricts it going back enough. Did you have this problem? If so, did you cut the plastic on the slam panel, or the metal on the car?

Sorry to be a pain, its just been a rather disapointing day :-(

Yeah, that's what you have to do. Remember, certain engines have different slam panels even though they are all convertibles. You just have to get the one that has the same engine as yours or some other will work also, you'll have to do some more research on that. That's where your problem is, I think.

Mine is a 2.5 TDI, they didn't make a 2.5 TDI Cabriolet :-(

Yeah mines a cabriolet, and the parts are from a cabriolet.

2.0TDI

Sorry as may have already answered, but did you cut the inner wings or the slam panel to allow it to fit at the top.

Slowly so far :-(

One thing to note while I remember is that the screen wash reservoir fits inside the passenger wing, and is a different shape on a B7.

The extent of the carnage yesterday!!!

Also, to my knowledge, you can't buy a slam panel from a b7 that is a direct fit for a b6 2.5 TDI

I have a 1.8t and donor car was 1.9tdi

Did your bonnet line up near the windscreen, as mine seems rather low as if it needs some spacers under the hinge to line up with the wings.

That's not a good news then. I'd say just play around with the slam panel that you have. Some cuts and fibreglass should hopefully work. All the best anyways. Hopefully you'll get it sorted soon mate.
