My 2.0 TDI clutch pedal has started to stick when changing gears just after the biting point.

It seems to get stuck near the top after changing gear and then pops back up after a split second.

Any ideas what this could be?

Sounds silly but the pedal isn't catching your floor mat and lifting it up when releasing the pedal.

Nope definitely not the floor mat. Just feels kind of sticky, changes gear fine but seems like it is catching somewhere on the way up

Hi mate did you ever solve this, I have the same problem on my TDI. So interested to know if you ever fixed it.

I would try bleeding it first but it certainly sounds like the slave not returning properly.

Thanks Phil. mine is the 6sp box too. So did you have this done and if so how much?

S3_Mat yes reading through bleeding might be a possibility the case is on 170k and I don't have any record of clutch replacement so over the years could well be air in the system. Usually happens when its cold like it has been these last few days.

I own a VAG indy Garage in Launceston (20 miles from plymouth) ive done this before and dependent on what the customer wants to do, we can just replace the slave (not really a great idea tbh) some want the DMF and clutch replaced some want us to test the DMF and if it passes to just replace the clutch kit, its a tricky one, as imho if a box comes out for a slave issue then replacing the clutch and DMF is future money saving

Hi Phil, yes not too far. So lets say replace all that what are we looking at or at least a breakdown of the costs?

Clutch and fly wheel do seem fine but i'm not sure how to properly test this.

Ok, would have to double check price of the parts but iirc the parts are around £450, Labour £180, so id say a worse case of £630, Labour is inc VAT although like i said id have to check the cost of DMF, clutch and slave price to give 110% quote :)

I had the same issue on my FSI just before christmas, pedal stopped returning entirely eventually. There's a plastic clip that gets damaged, and clutch master/slave cylinders can accentuate the problem. I took it to a good independent garage, cost me less than 160 to get it all sorted :encouragement:
