revo's new cold air intake

I see that revo do 2 intakes and the only difference I can see is the one is ceramic coated to help with heat sink. Is it worth the extra money or have you gone with the normal one which I assume comes with a heat shield like the itg I currently have.
 
For every day normal driving, I do not see the point really in having the ceramic coated intake - at the time, I didn't have a choice as it was the only one available.

Hi Adrian, as Boydie says the Street version is great and more than capable for road use. however the Camcoat one does help with reduce intake temps if the car is being used hard. Midland VW are big fans and report notiable improvement between theirs when doing back to back testing and dyno runs.
 
Sounds wicked in under cover car parks ;)

Recently fitted a Revo Air Intake, which was a doddle. The induction noise is awesome, and driving through tunnels sounds immense. Matches the Revo Stage 1 perfectly. Increased MAF readings by 20 g/s which roughly equates to 16 bhp (g/s x 0.8).

What intake do people normally go for now? Revo, AMD, MTC looks like a good option for half the price?

I think that with Revo,AMD or ITG,you wouldn't be disappointed.

Each will perform well,and should easily cope with Stg2+,and for sure,the ITG,whilst not exactly good looking,is good for a LOT more,and I would expect the others to do as well.

Even I would say this is functional rather than nice looking.....

You could easily gain another 5hp Alex if you put your oil cap on the right way round :p

So long as it keeps the oil in,I don't care!

It's kind of like putting R8 oil caps etc on.....form over function.....if it provides a benefit,like the IE cam cover,I'll buy it and get it fitted!

Was also thinking about getting the forge replacement diverter valve the one in this vid



Reason being is the standard one sounds stupid and chavvy, it's got a stupid tsssss noise like heard on subarus.

I liked the sound my forge 007p made when the air was coming back through the filter on my 1.8T creating a deep recirc sound similar to the one in the video, unless adding an intake makes that stupid tsssss noise a deeper noise like in the video?

sorry for bumping this old thread. But i am trying to figure out how i can improve my MAF readings.
I know my location/elevation plays a big role but my current unitronic CAI is peaking at ~234 g/s. My elevation is ~1000m above sea level.

Would like to see if anyone could share his peak MAF readings while running AMD or Revo intakes
 
My Revo one pulls 272 g/s and my standard engine cover pulls 254 g/s
I'm selling my Revo kit, want something quieter

My is relatively low too, but doesn't the MAF flow depend on requested boost? If your map is requesting boost value of X and actual boost is Y, and they roughly match throughout the rev range then there isn't really a problem and intake is not a bottleneck.
I'd be worried about the intake if the two boost values were not matched.

I'm open to be corrected here, as always. My logic has let me down in the past

When I logged mine and done the calculation of MAF divided by .80 it worked out about 340bhp!!!
I emailed Revo my logs and was informed my logs were very good and that the car would be making the quoted 360bhp
I've found lots of things on the net saying the bhp calculation is not accurate.
I'd expect yours to pull more air mass though.

I never trusted the maf calculation as it assumes a lot about the rest of the drive train.

I wonder if there are examples of people logging the maf reading and comparing the result of the calculation to actual dyno result.

I'd chat with Rick@Unicorn about this if you are worried about not getting the most of your hardware. Do some logging runs using his VCDS template and compare the actual vs requested boost values. Revo CAI is reportedly one of the best ones in terms of flow on our cars, so if there is a problem it may be some place else. I might be having the same question as soon as the fuel pump is upgraded and begin to pester him for the Stage 2+ map update :)

Hahaha he already knows my numbers

It seems I'm on the low side compared to others. but my actual+specified boost levels are close to each other. Not sure if elevation has that much to do with or my current intake isn't performing that well.

Possible yes.
I will eventually have her on the dyno. Just trying to sort couple is hiccups before I do. Tho our local dyno is a mustang dyno and the results are in whp
