My car has running issues.
i noticed on my sealey scanner that tp throttle position is always at 95% what ever i do.
the scanner shows my vw as 0% until i press the pedal so reader works ok.
the audi ticks over and drives okish but surely this 95% is a fault?????

Unlike petrol engines, diesel throttles are normally wide open and generally only used for pressure differential and engine shut off. The engine speed is controlled via fuelling.

Just read this again and this pressure differential you are on about is getting me thinking. Should the flap move with the revs? My flap only moves to shut the engine. There is no movement that i can see when engine is revving

The newer diesels certainly may use this strategy, it may not have been used on our engines however.

Any chance of one of the Vagcom guru's answering this question as I have the same issue and it is buging me. My car is a Audi A4 avant 2.0TDI 170bhp. Also I have used a vagcom unit and cannot do a output test on the throttle body/anti shudder valve as the option to do a certain part/unit is greyed out. So is there a way to test the wiring voltages etc.

Cheers Rick.

as far as I know the anti shudder is only closed on engine shut off and is only there really to stop the engine running on oil if the turbo oil seals go on the inlet side or a piston /ring fails, if that happens and you have no anti shudder the engine speed just goes faster and faster with no way of shutting it down. Eventually it will run out of its own oil or just go bang clunk clunk clunk.

Cheers for the reply Steve, I wanted to know the answer to the original question as I seem to have an intermittent fault on the anti shudder valve and when I looked at it I got the same readings as ukaudi. My problem is that the glow plug light flashes on and off and I can actually feel it kick in. It might not happen for a week or two then all of a sudden it will flash maybe only a few times then turn off again but the fault shows throttle body/anti shudder valve. I,ve cleaned everything egr etc so I was just after some pointers from more audi knowledgeable people on here.

Cheers Rick.....

If you take the anti shudder valve off and take the side cover off it you will see plastic gears. They are common fault. They could be worn and slipping

If you have cleaned the anti shudder and you still have a problem with it you might need to replace it.

the glow plug light is just showing a fault, and the loss of performance will be it has gone into limp mode. If you turn the ignition off and on this will reset the limp mode so it drives ok until the fault occurs again. unfortunately these things are hard to track down without replacing something.
