Morning all. As title. I try to look after my car the best I can. I use autoglym shampoo with a mit, rinse, remove tar, rinse then (this might sound daft) put some extra gloss protection and ultra deep shine -about 2 caps of each- in a clean bucket, add a few inches boiling water then apply this to my clean car. Then rinse exess and buff off with micro fibre cloth. This is done once a week but I want some really good wax to give it a good once over now and then. Any suggestions/critics on how I wash me car?

TBH its more about the prep work than the wax you use
Never heard anyone do 'put some extra gloss protection and ultra deep shine -about 2 caps of each- in a clean bucket, add a few inches boiling water then apply this to my clean car' this before. BUT if it works for you and your happy with the finish, why not
Not that there is anything wrong with AG shampoo, but there are quite a few better ones out there

Your washing techniques are spot on mate, I used to use AG shampoo myself.
You won't need the extra gloss/deep shine if your going to wax I'd say.
No need to buff off water, invest in a drying towel and pat dry, these hold insane amounts of water.
Before going and applying a wax I would give the car a clay, only has to be done twice a year but ud bed surprised how much dirt and contaminates it picks up.
I'd then use a paint cleanser to apply to the bare paint for the wax to sit on.
3 coats of wax will last months as well as topping it up with a quick detailer every wash.
Plenty waxes to pick from that are going to look great on Misano
What do u use to remove the tar?
This can take off your wax protection as well.
Another route you can go is the werkstat range if u just fancy spray and wipe instead of applying wax.
2 kits on offer are acrylic and carnauba. I tried the first and love

i am wanting the Carn Kit hopefully get it for me BD next month, i have the acrylic kit already dead easy to use and suits my level of expertise lol.
Thanks for replies chaps. Might get the werkstat acrylic. Told the wife, she said what's wrong with fairy up liquid.....I currently have a claim going with her life insurance as she's gone missing, loving the new patio mind!!

Thanks guys. Rear windows are tints mate. Might go n wash the car, that pic looks dirty! Looking at it in the sun the other day, I couldn't believe how deep the paint looked!! Was almost glowing!!

It's all in the prep. De tar, clay and throughly clean the **** out the car. Then I'd suggest if going by hand some Autoglym SRP (Super Resin Polish) as it's mainly a filler to hide the swirls. If you get the bug get a Dual Action polisher (DAS-6 Pro etc) and get some Megs 101 and a couple of different grades of polishing pads.
LSP I stick to a wax with my Misano red. Currently using AG HD wax but hear good things about Victoria Concours wax.
This is mine before waxing to show how important prep is. It hadn't even been properly machine polished there (although the bonnet had been).

Agree totally about the prep being important, its amazing how well the paint looks after a decomtaminate and a clay.
So many better products than Autoglym SRP now i find with paint cleansers with fillers i.e Prima Amigo to name one.
One thing with Misano is its very easy to see any swirls etc and very unforgiving.
I found in the past using wax has better hiding capabilities compared to using werkstat etc

As warned detailing is expensive but also something detailers don't warn you about is the need that grows inside you to murder the neighbours when they say:
'You'll wash that away one day'
'Don't know why you bother, it's going to rain on Wednesday'
'You polishing that again?'
'I'll bring mine round and you can do mine'
Not had the Misano Red very long but when I first bought it I gave it a 2 day detailing overhaul
Starting with SnowFoam (so much fun to shoot the offending neighbour which, it's like shaving foam)
Washed with AutoBrite purple velvet shampoo
Removed all the tar spots with ValetPro bug and tar remover
Clayed the car using AutoGlym Ultimate Clay Kit
Used ValetPro Dragons Breath (vile stuff!) on the wheels to remove all the iron
Washed again using AutoBrite
Dried with Uber Drying Towel
Tape off all the door shuts, around the lights etc etc
2 passes on each panel of Menzerna Fast Gloss - its fairly aggressive polish but the finish is outstanding, cuts out all the swirls marks on the paint work
2 passes of Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze - this really brings out the shine after the polish
2 coats of Auto Finesse Illusion (brought from amazon for under £50 a pot)
Autosol'd the exhaust
Waxed the wheels with FK1000p sealant
Treated all the glass with rain-x

Probably been washed 3 - 4 times since then (2 months ago since I performed the detail) and it still looks exactly the same then - although the level of beading is starting to decrease as Illusion is not very durable more of a Summer / Show wax.
Once you find products that work for you it's not that expensive, it's just finding the right ones... some are absolutely awful (3M Clay springs to mind..) hope this helps!
