Hello lads .... Been after some brakes for my s3 for a few months now ... After audi quoting nearly £400 for replacement discs and pads I've been looking at big brake kits instead. I've seen forge / d2 / tarox / brembo's and various other kits available for the s3, does anyone have any recommendations and do any of the rs series brakes fit the s3 with little mods as possible ?

Cheers

RS3/TTRS calipers with TTRS disc's if you don't track your car. I have TTRS calipers with AP Racing discs and was tracking my car all day. I actually managed to change the temperature paint to 500C and with Pagid blue pads they just never let go.

Never tracked my car, tbh I just love the look of big brakes :L ! Are these a straight fit no mods needed ?

+1 ttrs brake kit. Works very well. You can get them 2nd hand for a good money..

...but apparently they squeal like a ***** hence every RS3 owner on here has had them back under warranty and had the calipers/discs replaced?

Good if you can put up with a bit of noise though.

Does anyone else not understand this?

His AP discs have temp paint stripes on them which change colour to give you an indication on how hot you are getting them, useful for choosing the right pads for track days.

So they're good if you don't track your car, yet they never let go? That still contradicts.

No, with TTRS discs they will be fine but track you want something better like AP racing floating discs and bell setup.

I have a TTRS set up, brilliant. Get the right pads and grease the calipers well before installation and they work wonders. I might be going bigger yet though.

I have a hybrid AP and VWR kit.

Of the kits currently available I'd recommend the RS,AP or if your pockets are really deep,Alcon.

Have you any pics of you set up S3Alex? Would fancy a gander at them.

Ah ok, understood. What's the damage on those AP discs then?
An RS3 upgrade is something I'll probably look into in the future. I've tracked my previous 2 cars, and been to the 'Ring a few times.

I had Alcons on my previous car, an Astra CDTI 888. They were incredible! Although somewhat pricey when you needed new discs and pads. Braking though, Fantastic!!

Here you go.....

Not pretty,but effective.

Rears....

And fronts....

Apologies for tagging into your thread but my question is related. Just out of interest how much heavier is the TTRS brake and disk (370mm) than the standard S3 set up with the 345mm discs. I'm also interested in the upgrade but wouldn't want to do it if it greatly increased the unspent weight. Any advice greatly appreciated.

The discs are heavier., the calipers I think are lighter. You notice the weight a little but with a good suspension set up you don't notice it. I'd advise good tyres as well.

The S3 setup is quite heavy, TTRS calipers are a hell of a lot less weight.

Thanks guys that useful information on the weight of the brakes. Much appreciated.

Where can I get those parts?

Cheers

The rear discs are a direct replacement made by ZeroSixty, with Mintex 1155 pads, which you may find a bit aggressive for road use, although Ferodo DS2500s are a decent choice.

The fronts are a hybrid of VWRacing 6pot calipers,AP Racing rotors, and Mintex 1155 pads.

I'd suggest if you really want something along these lines, that the RS kit is the cheapest, and the AP front brake kit is one of the best.

Hi already have front ttrs and rear s3 brake systems but my front disks are breaking unevenly. Like the car seems like it's breaking wobbling when breaking at almost stop speed. I would like a direct replacement for mys system...

And where can I buy those mintex from.

Cheers.

Your local tuner should know, but most of the reputable places like DemonTweeks etc will have them.

I'm not sure I'd recommend 1155s for road use neccessarily....1144s might be better.

Thanks. I'll try and find the parts.

Cheers

Been looking on demon website but they say that there are no mintex for ttrs...
Can someone help?

Picked up some calipers for a decent price on eBay. Just need ttrs discs and pads now ! Pricy !! Although I have found some on German eBay £345 delivered ! :) think I will get ebc yellow stuff pads as apparently the ds2500 are squeaky ?

Has anyone brought anything from German eBay..? Experiences ?

But are there yellow stuff for ttrs calipers?
Regarding German ebay, costumer since 2004 where I buy everything and up till now no problems. You just have to see seller feedback

Hello After reading this post

As the first comment said if not used for track

Thanks Ben

You don't have to go to eBay my genuine TTRS disks are up for sale in the 'for sale section. Still in the packaging from the Audi dealer in the UK.
I can be contacted on Giles.probert @googlemail.com

They are yellow stuff for ttrs/rs3 calipers I believe mate. Ahh that's good to know cheers

After finding some callipers on eBay, I received them today and fitted a calliper to make sure they fit before I paint them ect. I have a quick question if I was to buy rs3 braided lines would these fit ? I know they will go into the caliper but are the other ends the same ??

hi mate, i was looking brake lines and seems that there is only complete ttrs kit front and back lines in package. do you have that kit? do the rear ttrs lines fit standard s3 rear brakes? as i don't want to buy them and find that the rear lines don't fit?
