Jardo's 'Journey to quattro' - My Story...

It really is Daz, it's SO slow.

I probably removed 20bhp's worth or wiring today.

I hate wiring, I hate it I hate it I hate it! But even I know the stuff I was removing was very wrong.

Hahaha. Well i think it looks good man!
I removed loads of wire the weekend. Really messy work.

What I hate more is removing over complicated shot wiring, that's all the same colour because whoever wired it in was either colour blind or full special.

This beautiful two wire pressure switch...

Is replacing this contraption of pure evil...cut from the car it was infecting with it's leeching wiring.

Methanol, boost, low EGT's and IAT's, and FLAMES.

Still workin at half 2...I guess I won't be seeing you until much later this afternoon then!

Gayest glovebox item combination.

-baby wipes
-men's perfume
-some sort of medicinal spray, which I shall assume is poppers.

What can I say, I just live for wiping babies.

And have lots of aftershave.

There are 9 watches under the flap too haha.

No laws around the airbag removal? Can't do it here :-( although probably not a bad thing...

Couldn't give a toss about them if I am honest.

However, fairly certain the rules are that if they are fitted they must work.

So removed, fine. Removed with the light on the dash. Not fine.

So there is a resister in there so it checks and confirms all the other airbags.

Only because it was in the box with the boss though haha.

Well, I got on.

Passed the static noise test at exactly 98db.

Car was faultless, drove REALLY well. Just felt slow, but was making lots of ground on well seasoned cars ahead of me.

Then I got black flagged for setting off every single drive by noise meter.

Doh'!

With your current set up or did you get an oem?
Bad luck! So how many laps in?

Current setup. I'd rather not say how few laps I got in haha...

One warm up, two flat out laps and black flagged on the pit entrance of the second.

Bless.

I did gain lots and lots of space on a quick 309, a Clio 182 which is currently racing in the Clio Cup and generally the rest of the field though.

Good things were coming.

Then I got the pirate flag :(

****** noise limits!!
The s3 seems to go better than they feel. My stage 1 was keeping with a carrera 2 and m3 at bedford on the long straight.
So whats the plan for exhaust now then?

I don't really have a plan to be fair, it's another year until I do Goodwood again. And I will probably have sold it by then.

Can we change the title of this please.

I know JoJo thinks it's hilarious but it's so stupid. Somebody actually just introduced themselves to me by means of saying "oh, you're Jardo off ASN aren't you? The one that made a gay "journey" to owning an S3, likes it's some sort of ****ing quest."

I don't know who it was, because I told them I didn't have a ****ing clue what they were going on about and "who was yardo."

True story.

Like the other time I was in the petrol station and some massive scary bloke came up and said "ha, so you're the infamous Jardo off ASN then are you?" And I said "maybe, who's asking?" And they said "I'm bigandbald!" To which I replied, "I can see that, but what's that got to do with ASN?"

I got a lot of passenger laps too, in a 440bhp 135i. It was nice.

He was fast and had an incident free day, which makes him a winner. Don't let him say otherwise.

I also spent a lot of time in a very very very lovely GT3 Clubsport, the driver of which is a friend who we describe as "next level ****." He's fast.

A certain moderator on here and I want Porsches, so the S has to go!

Good car, probably wouldn't be selling it if I wasn't trying to get loads of money in the bank.

Girlfriends away for 4 months; and I've got two options. Plough all my time and money into the S, or sell it for a realistic 4K, bank that money and spend the next 4 months buying and selling trade ins, cheap cars I find and general wheeler dealing until I have the funds to buy a Porsche.

I'll probably regret it like I have regretted every 8L I've sold, by at least I know it's a good one and I've "owned an S3."

The girlfriend goes away and will come back to a Porsche... Very nice.

What kind of Porsche are you looking at? I considered one before the S3. I've bought a decent S3 so I'm happy for a year or two. I may need to find another toy before the girlfriend decides its time to have kids though...

Buying and selling sounds like good fun for a while. A friend of mine does this and ends up buying something that he ends up keeping!

Sounds like you've got a plan in mind Jardo, part of me hopes it doesn't sell and you stick with it. But then again I actually admire what you're looking to do and how you're going about it. Good luck with the sale and the future wheeler dealing!

Fingers crossed Craig, you know how I am with the whole wheeler dealing stuff.

I haven't bought and sold cars for a while to make money, and we all know I'm losing/have lost a LOT of money on this thing going down from the 8P to the S.

But if the person I have lined up for this buys it then it's going to a good home where I won't miss it.

Surely there is a no cooler way of saving up to buy a Porsche than putting all your money on the line, committing to sell everything you own and then chopping and changing cars until you get one. Proper manly stuff. Haha.

You could win it in a duel against Chuck Norris.

Good luck with the Porsche quest, I'm sure you'll have fun and end up with something cool at the end of it.

your be back lol.
good luck to ya though.
964 ftw!!!

When I was last in hamburg Germany there was loads of 964's just parked up on side streets all like track spec with roll cage and set of recaros did look pretty cool, however a decent one will set you back a few bucks and they aren't that quick. Costly servicing, running , parts etc I'm not sure it's FTW but worth having one IMO .

In that's price range I'd be considering a rs4 or m3

Sean

RS4's and M3's will lose money like a stone.

Something being quick isn't a reason to buy it. Buying something because it will appreciate in value, drive nicely, make me happy and look super sweet is.

No interest in M3's and RS4's at the moment, unless the M3 was cheap and an E30 or 36.

Nailed it.

you don't buy a classic Porsche based on speed. **** speed, you're driving a 964.

I'm sure I'd heard the 964's were already going up money-wise. Possibly heard it on Drive or something.

i like how much more dramatic a 964 is compared to modern 911's,
raised headlights,
the roof sloping away to the floor.
bigger spolier (if it has one)
lush!
and yeh its only ever going to get more expensive just as long as its a good one and you look after it.
how likely is this going to happen?

Everybody who talks to me about this car seems to assume it's a clapped out death trap on the edge of catastrophic failure.

I guess I did a good job warning people off S3's for all those years and it's come to bite me on the **** :lmfao:

I don't think that's anything to do with the car chap.

That'll be your reputation as a basher....

I can however confirm, that this one really is mint. Having driven it, anyone buying this is getting a very nicely sorted car indeed.

As an all round package, it's fantastic. I'd have it!
