Caught them on CCTV and Dashcam, police investigating. Not just mine, they did four cars.
Little *******s with nothing better to do then cause £2k worth of damage to someone's car.

Christ Almighty, Sidi!

So sorry that has happened. Fingers crossed the little scrotes are found.

Hopefully the fact you caught them on camera means the scrotes will get caught, although I suppose they won't have to pay for the damage and will get a minor punishment at best. :(

Was it kids or people old enough that they were bitter because they can't be ***** to go out and earn the things you've earnt?

Absolutely disgusting,

Good news is it can probably polish out unless it's down to primer

If they are caught, even if the criminal court doesn't make them pay for the repairs, a civil claim in the Small Claims Court wouldn't go amiss, would it?

I just can't get my head around why people do it... It's just petty mindless vandalism but it is a pretty big deal to the person who has to pay out for the repairs!

Aaarrggghh!!!

So annoying, so sorry to see this Paul, ****** little 5hits!!!

If caught thier parents should be made to pay for such damage, to many of these brainless scrotes running around.

Hmmm, you have more faith than me that they'll be made to pay.

I suspect they'll claim they can't. That or they just won't. Then it's into the realms of chasing that debt down. A bit defeatist on my part I know but if I ended up having to take too much time off work the money wise I'd have just been better up letting it go.

Would be fantastic if they were made to pay (criminal or civil - ideally both!) but honestly, I can't see it.

You're probably right. I just put that out there to make sure all the bases were covered.

Well the area that it has happened in, there is no chance that anybody is going to pay for it, apart from Paul, which is a real shame!!!

Even if it was paid for by anyone there, you would be keeping an eye on your car even more because it would not be laid to rest.

Unfortunately these are the times we live in and there are not as many decent people out there as we would hope.

Paul, it saddens me to read this. You work hard to have a nice car and these scumbags think its fun to damage it. I hope they can catch them, though what can be done if they do is another matter. Hope you get it sorted Paul. :( x

Lousey gits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Nothing worse than wanton damage

I tell you, society is going downhill fast when things like this happen !! So many mindless people about.

So here is the update, repair quote is £1485.00.
I have had a positive id for the younger of the two kids, who like it or not is going to grass his mate up, especially as the younger kid is the son of a close neighbour. The police are looking to charge him with accessory to malicious damage.

All of us who had our cars damaged are paying him a visit sometime today when he gets back from work.

So for those of you who don't have a dashcam or cctv, consider it, because without it I wouldn't have stood a chance of finding out who did it.

Fingers crossed you get a positive outcome from this mate.

Go get 'em Paul.

It is down to your advice last year that I have a BlackVue camera on board.

I have been putting off getting a camera due to funds and trying to find the right one for me. But I will be getting this sorted this month.

Send a private message to Cruiser89. He's a forum sponsor and supplier of in-car cameras (and lots more besides). He'll help you decide what you need.

Shoot them Paul! :gun2:

Sadly its not an option, I can't even raise my voice with them or show any signs of aggression or anger as if its reported to the police they will not take too lightly on it due to my gun ownership.

Hence the other people who have suffered damage are all going, I will just stand their quietly and calmly.

If the court rules in your favour and they don't pay the fine can be enforced by court appointed bayliffs who have substantially more clout and will add their costs on to the debt. See how funny the scum bags find it when the bayliffs remove their flat screen TV and Xbox/Playstation to pay for the damage they caused.

Failing that you would of course attend court and find out where they live and as we all know accidents can and do happen.

Great news, you absolutley must take this to the small claims court. Hit them firmly in their wallets as it will make them think twice about such stupid behaviour. Why should you be left with a £1500 repair because of their idiotic actions?

Firstly let me say how sorry I am this has happened to you.Same thing happened to me in the past, my 18 month old P38 Range Rover and I was gutted with no video or comeback. It cost me over 2K as they had gouged the Aly panels too.

What camera do you have, as I was only looking on eBay yesterday at the very thing you describe? The eBay ones all seem to be Chinese or very cheap looking and I don't want to waste good money on rubbish.

I see my chum jdp1962 has a black view camera. Just checked it out Jeff and it's £250!! Do you have to pay this much to avoid dodgey scumbags?

Hope not!!

Any details on camera equipment would be great.

Hope you catch 'em and get money from 'em little pr*cks

Cheers Marty :blackrs4:

Can't remember how much I paid (this was about 18 months ago) but it was under £200 at the time. If you're thinking of getting one, send a private message to Cruiser 89. He can guide you through the different options (do you want front only, or front and back?) and, of course there have been model updates since I bought.

You can definitely get cheaper products but you do get what you pay for. The BlackVue is tremendous quality, as is the viewing software that supports it.

+1 for Blackvue. I currently have the DR 380 but am upgrading to the DR500.

silly question, but if it was a dashcam (pointing forwards I presume), how did the camera spot them doing it (as damage is to the rear of the car), or am I missing something quite obvious here?

I assumed the camera got them as they walked towards/away from the car? I could be wrong though?

You sir, are cool as a cucumber! :respekt:

The dashcam caught them approaching the car, and the noise of the scrape. The four camera CCTV system outside the house showed a lot more.

Never a silly question if you don't know the answer. In addition to Marty's point about them being captured on approach, it's quite possible the microphone will have picked up the scratching sound as the perps keyed the panel. Of course, only Paul knows the real answer.

D'oh! Just saw Paul's post. He must have got it in while I was typing (slowly as usual). Don't think I'll take you on in a fast draw, Paul.
