BW 29, 30, 31, 32

Sorted out paperwork with my dealer on Saturday and he said the car arrives on the transporter on Monday. He has even promised to take some photos as it is driven off (bless, says my wife who is now certain that I've lost all the few remaining marbles that I had left). She can't understand that I'm spending so much time reading and commenting about a car LOL. I tell her it's a man thing, although I know there are quite a few female contributors to the Forum.

Just had an email from fleet folk this morning to say my "anticipated" delivery is 28/11/14. From memory, it seems a similar lead time of about 4 months akin my current 8P. Least it won't be sat at the dealership for 2 months like the 8P was, as I hadn't reached my contract date on the previous car to that.

Car arrived at Exeter Audi this morning! Interestingly the radar sensor looks as though it is round not the usual flat square one which I thought had replaced it on non-S3 cars.

How the days will drag until next Monday!

Had a call from my dealer just before lunch to say that the S3 has landed at the dealer. So off we went for a peek (I would defy anybody not to) and have to say that I am well pleased with my choice of car, options and colour. Even with all the protective coverings, it still looked lovely in the sunshine.

Seeing photos like these makes the next 2 to 3 months harder.

So you will be taking delivery well and truly before the 18th of Aug as specified in your signature?

Enjoy!

No I won't be taking delivery before the weekend of 16 August as I (foolishly) offered to use my A5 Sportback as my son's wedding car when he gets married on 15 August. I have asked salesman today if I can collect on Saturday afternoon after we get back from the wedding hotel.

Believe me, if I could have it sooner I would. I even asked my salesman if I could 'test drive' an A8 on the day of the wedding for a few hours but he wouldn't have it. I also thought about hiring a limo but it is not worth the high cost.

I can wait - honest ;)

very jealous that youve both seen your cars been over to the garage 2 days in a row and not been able to see it. picking it up on friday so not long to wait now!

Further to my previous post in this thread HERE We have been informed today that the car is actually in the country and undergoing final prep, delivery should be 13/08, Weird!

Yes a bit odd but delivery times all seem to have been brought forward significantly. Mine was built on 14 July, arrived in Sheerness on 23 July and was delivered to Exeter Audi at 9.00am on 28th. Pretty rapid!

I asked them where they got the 6 week delay from and no one could answer the question, I suspect they had us mixed up with someone else now, needless to say the OH is very happy.

Hope Monday comes around quick for you Pete !

My wife will be oh so pleased also - she is FED UP with me talking about this ****** car! But once I've got it it'll be "did you know that the A3 has got ......" Can't win can she?

That is quick. My build day was the 14th (Monday of week 29) so I hope mine is also sitting at Bremehaven about to board .... ... wishful thinking.

"YES" - I now have tracking for my car - it's on it's way, to Australia - well sort of. A tracking result finally appeared last night. My car is in Zeebrugge and no where near Bremerhaven. Built Monday 14/7, it arrived in Zeebrugge at 11:15 am on the 22nd and is due to sail on Glorious Leader on August 2 and be at Pt Kembla (for Sydney) maybe Sep 6 (it's 3 days late at the moment). Yippee ...

So while you UK owners are driving around enjoying yourselves in your new Audis, at least we 'week 29' Aussies can enjoy ourselves watching a little dot being tracked somewhere in the middle of an ocean........ But at least it's happening .....

How long did you have to wait after the build week for your dealer to inform you of your VIN and shipping details?

Cheers

I chased him; I'm not sure when or if he would have told me. I asked him for a screen shot I think about a week of so before my BW, and that gave me the build day. 2 days after the build day I asked for another screen shot and that had the VIN then. Good luck with yours...... At least your shipping will take less time to WA than mine ...

Oh ok, cheers. Looks like I'll have to chase him up for the details.

Mine is suppose to be built this week and so far he's just told me that everything is on track for planned delivery date but doesn't know the VIN; the shipping details are vague at this point.

Great news! How strange that your car got lost and has ended up in Zebrugge and not Bremerhaven. Perhaps they forgot to fit the SatNav system? I'd check the spec again if I were you.

Damn, now you've told me which ship it's on I shall be forced to track it all the way to Oz. I see it is due in to Zebrugge today at 2000.

Monday is only 4 sleeps away for me .....

I hope you enjoy your last few days of anticipation - and then the big day - well done.

Yes please, will you keep an eye on it for me and make sure it doesn't get lost too (it could well be using my faulty GPS), because I'll be away for a week skiing as of tomorrow and there's no computers etc down there.

Not sure how old you are but up here "skiing" has another meaning (Spending the Kids Inheritance) which with the costs of an S3 you may well be doing!
Don't break any legs!

I am old, but not decrepid just yet ..... but no, it just means snow and skis. I do have a son, and he's just ordered a Sepang blue sedan, so he's another one of us strange people......

I told you I'd be looking out for your car! I checked the route of the Glorious Leader and it went from Antwerp to Bremerhaven and then to Zebrugge where it is now. So possibly your car got loaded at Bremerhaven?

Excellent work. However my tracking says the car definitely is at Zeebrugge (arrived 22/7) and Glorious Leader is now at Zeebrugge, hopefully getting loaded with my machine. I'm heading off right now. Cheers and good luck with the car in 3 days time. Geoff

One more sleep to go Pete, how are you holding up mate lol

OK I guess under the circumstances!! My wife has decided to do some gardening as she is fed up with me reading this forum and playing YouTube videos about MMI, ACC, Lane Departure etc !

Tonight maybe the worst night and I keep checking the weather forecast - it says there may be showers tomorrow in Devon :( it mustn't rain, not on my new car.

10.30am is the appointed time so I hope I'll be posting photos during the afternoon (or then again I may just be out driving it!). Tuesday I've now got a nice longish drive to Cannock and back so a good opportunity to try it out.

Yes just one more sleep ......

You will be out driving! Picked mine up Friday and it is brilliant, spent yesterday with my dad putting gtechniq protective treatments on it a crystal lacquer and a hydrophobic coat on the paint and wheels, Daytona grey is looking great in the sun!

Have managed 100 miles so far and the car is brilliant taking easy on the revs but even with maximum 2000 rpm can drive at normal speeds with the 1.4 cod and s-tronic and can cruise at 70 in 7th with out going over 2k rpm.

Really pleased with it you will enjoy the drive up to Cannock and back!

Interesting change on my car compared to my dads which is 5 months old is there is an extra air duct in the front arch liner, not sure if its cooling or aero change can only assume its my15 spec maybe to cope with the extra 10bhp! ;-)

Sounds like an illegal modification to gain extra speed - I doubt that it will pass scrutineering and I bet someone reports it to the FIA. I'm sure the other owners will be complaining about this use of aero and we'll probably have to remove them at the first service.

There is a great place in Cannock that refurbs Diamond Cut Alloys to a high standard. :)

Definitely controversial be interesting to see if any of the other MY15 have them as well

Daytona was looking beautiful in the sun today! Enjoy tomorrow Pete.

I reckon Pete has collected his new car and is so impressed with it that he has forgotten to post the obligatory pictures of the event.

I guess we'll have to wait until he returns from 'just one more quick run before dinner Darling'.

Glospete and family are excited to welcome our new little A3 Sportback into the world – delivered at 10.30am on Monday 4 August at Audi Exeter. She weighs 1235kg and is absolutely gorgeous. Her face is very similar to her elder TT brother and her colouring matches his. Dad was there at the delivery so a special bond has been created. Her LEDs light up our lives and every little noise fills our heart with joy!

OK, enough of this drivel! At the appointed hour my wife and I drove into Exeter in glorious sunshine and there in the special delivery room (oh no, here I go again!) there was my A3 Sportback, resplendent in her silver Audi delivery gown:

Our salesman, Stephen Chapman, who has attended to us so well throughout the pregnancy (stop it please!) – I mean order and build process – was there ready to welcome us to the showroom and after coffee and a chat about his A3 eTron course at Munich last week, we cleared the paperwork and moved to the delivery room. I am so pleased that I went for the Black Styling Pack on the Glacier White as it contrasts beautifully with it:

Stephen says that a normal handover takes about an hour (our TT took about that long last May) but when a car has a high spec like mine he says they set aside 3-4 hours! There are so many features and options to check and go through on this car:

Popped in the Three SIM and were connected immediately so had a quick browse of Google Earth – amazing.

They had actually set out part of their Audi Exeter car park to mimic parallel and perpendicular parking so that I could get acquainted with these Park Assist features before he let me loose on the open roads of Devon. I was blown away by the Park Assist – I let Stephen show me first and to see the steering wheel twirling this way and that and then make a perfect parallel park. And then I tried and it was perfect! Perpendicular parking was next and that was equally amazing.

The car came with the requisite ½ tank fuel and the 1L of oil and Stephen gave me free of charge 2 nice keyrings plus 3 AMI leads – a green collar version for my iPhone 5, a red collar version for my wife’s iPhone 4 and another for USB connections. I hadn’t realised that inside the arm rest box was not only the AMI connector but another USB for charging only. That’ll be very useful.

The 20 mile journey home from Exeter was uneventful (thank goodness) but I got to try out a few of the features including the wonderful Audi Sound System (no crackling! Ouch, sorry to you B&O owners). I decided that ACC and Lane Assist would wait for another day when I had become more familiar with the car.

Home and the sun had gone in (usual in Devon!) but time to introduce her to her brother. They seemed to get on OK and they both have identical garages so no favouritism, although the TT does have a nice fleece cover as it doesn’t and won’t get used as much as the A3.

A few more album shots:

A quick check of Google Earth and Street View of a location in Exeter and you could say SOFA so good but I wouldn’t dare.

I’d copied some music to a 64GB SD card and lo and behold all the album artwork showed up – so having read so much about the problems people had had I needn’t have worried.

The radar sensor is the dome version which I think looks quite cool but I haven’t seen an A3 with the flat version so can’t compare. So long as it works it’s fine with me whatever its shape!

I haven’t had time to upload the CD (or is it a DVD) Manual to the car yet so I may be keeping my wife busy on the journey tomorrow asking her about the various features.

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to fit the alloy pedal covers and alloy footrest cover so that will have to wait until later in the week.

But a fantastic day and once again Stephen Chapman at Audi Exeter was a star throughout the process. It’s the second car we’ve bought from Exeter and I’d have no hesitation in recommending them to anybody.

More thoughts when I’ve clocked up a few miles!

Congratulations on your new arrival - I trust father and baby are both well? Its a beautiful car Peter and a great write up with some lovely photographs.

Makes me want mine all the more now. Alas, I still have to wait for another 2 weeks until after my son gets married :(.

Thanks for your kind words. I think I may be on the night feed tonight!

I don't know how you can wait - what's wrong with an S3 as a wedding car anyway?

So a couple of sleepless nights for you? Enjoy the experience - it was magic for me today!

Many congrats. The car looks great you must be chuffed. I have been following your new arrival for a while and been watching the countdown at the bottom of the Posts !!
Like you said the black styling pack looks fantastic on a white car. An A3 S-Line sportback in Glacier white even more so.
My Amalfi A1 S-Line has this and it makes the car look a little bit special.
Did they do a good job on the bonnet scratch I bet you can hardly see it !!! LOL
My A3 S-Line is build week 35 so I have a little bit longer to wait :icon_thumright:

Yeah it was a different car as we suspected!

My car took 2 weeks to the day from production to being delivered to Audi Exeter so you could be sitting in yours in the first couple of weeks of September. And a 64 registration too! Mine will look old by then!
