Hi peoples just after some advice on which induction kit to go for! Looking at ither the ITG or the revo?? Any advice welcome! All my plans are is to just put a 3" down pipe de cat and stage 2 map. Wouldn't mind a bit of noise from
the induction kit :)
cheers

The best current intakes are the Revo,ITG and AMD.

I would have swapped to the AMD(as they do all my work)but as I have a lot of non-standard parts on mine, incl.the turbo inlet,we stuck with the custom ITG I already had.

It's not pretty, but it does work....

alex the best thing about your car is that it looks soo standard (bar the induction kit) its great :D

Plus, i think the AMD looks best. nice coloured pipes :p

Cheers for the replies! Think I'm going to go with the revo after reading reviews :)

I'm currently on the look out for an induction kit. Came across the forge twintake. Is it any good?

Ross

Well...it's kind of outdated now for one thing.

Another issue.....there are two air filters feeding into the same piece of common pipework, with the diameter of the MAF being the narrowest point of the system.
The law governing the flow of gas and the onset of turbulent airflow is determined by the following factors:

Length of pipe
Viscosity of gas
Pressure differential across the pipe
And most importantly is inversely proportional to the 4th power of the radius of the pipe.

Now the end point of all the physics is this....it doesn't materially matter if you have one or ten filters feeding into the same piece of pipe if the limiting area is downstream at the MAF.

So...the best current intakes are,in no particular order,Revo,ITG and AMD,all of which have smoothly curved pipework, reducing the onset of turbulent flow(which results in decreased flow for the same pressure differential).

And finally,if you get an increase in flow as a result of fitting two filters feeding into the system,it means that the limiting point was an air filter with an inadequate maximum flow rate.

Please....don't get me wrong on this.....Forge make some excellent products, and deliver excellent service.....I just don't rate this one.

I'm looking at the AMD for my S3 just need to put my hand in my pocket lol

I think at the top end of the market now, there is little to choose between any of the top 3,and you would be happy with the results from any of them.

The Revo looks the best, and arguably has the best finish, but conversely, mine is the ugliest, and most functional looking but it still delivers on a 500bhp engine.

I think I'll be going with the revo one anyway was just curious about the forge one and you have cleared that up.

Fitted my revo yesterday and love the induction noise! Hope to get the S3 stage 1 mapped at Shark Performance next week..

Is there a lot of induction noise???

A lot of the screeching and wheezing noises are from the turbo itself......as an example,my ITG is a lot quieter with the GTX3076 than it ever was with the smaller 3071,or my old Forge was with the K04.

I was worried about the noise from the revo, never had an induction kit before. but it really isn't intrusive at all and you only really notice when on full chat. most driving situations can be covered up by the stereo. when you open her open you'll notice and the noises just make you smile whooshing and chattering nice. no regrets.

The stereo on mine has become fairly pointless...LOL.

I would love a go in that. Mines standard and feels fast never mind 500 steaming ponies

It is a wee bit loud.

But.....there are positives.

Alex, are there any videos knocking about of yours in action?

Not at the moment.

I keep meaning to do something abou that but never get around to it.

All being well,it should be at the AMD RR day in September.

One of my good mates owned JonnyC's white S3 after him. I guess it's very much like that?

I know that car,and it's next owner.....is that Dan we're talking about?

Yeah. He's a good mate of mine, albeit an idiot. I've driven it once or twice.
Always tell him he shouldn't have got rid of it.

Thought it might be....and yes,a good man.....please give him my best regards.

Love the bulldog.

And the car.....similar to mine, but some differences in spec.

WMI on both, different turbos, mine runs less boost but at least the same power, and then there's the new manifold etc for mine.

It's interesting how you can take the same engine, use different kits and parts, and end up with very similar results.
