I ordered my car a month or so back not even thinking about if mum's wheelchair will fit in the boot as it fits in my polo. However it transpired today that it won't fit in a mk7 Golf without folding the seats which has me a little worried. Could somebody please measure the distance between the boot floor and roof for me please? I've specced a spacesaver spare wheel due to the audi sound pack which may influence the boot floor height.

Thanks

S3 or A3?

If it's S3 I can measure for you.

I find the boot in my 8v very small in comparison to the 8p

Yer I was thinking the same, hope it's big enought for me coming from a 8P lol.

It's only a few cm each way though, just seem to be not as deep at all ( due to sub / Quattro system and the design ).

If you've ordered the Audi sound system the sub will still sit in the space wheel well, so the boot height will be vastly reduced.

Err, no it won't. The sub fits inside the spare wheel and doesn't change the height of the boot floor at all.

If you don't have the B & O you can adjust the level of the floor so errrr yer it does

I have the B&O and can still adjust the level of the floor!

The sub sits in the spare wheel and is flush with it - it doesn't raise the height of the floor at all!

Here's a pic from my boot:

I assume you can't adjust the s3's boot?

Quattro models do lose some boot space I know but I don't know how much or whether there's still a multi-level floor thing or not - I'd assume not but I've never looked at one.

There is much confusion over this.

We've covered this before.

In the Oct 2013 brochure and those preceding it, it stated that a height adjustable boot floor was limited by Quattro or non Quattro.

However, from the Feb 2014 brochure onwards, it says:

"Height adjustable floor - Not available on quattro variants OR in conjunction with Audi sound system or B+O Sound System"

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/new-a3...ochure-updated-now-valid-february-2014-a.html

Is the brochure wrong, or has something changed in newer cars?

Thanks for finding that !

It's not in MY 15 brochure so unsure to what's going on with it.

OK, now I'm confused!

It's a non quattro A3, with audi sound system which from reading the above may or may not impact the space

If you look in the back of the brochure it gives all dimentions.

Unfortunately not the one I'm after, only the width and depth

Its in the latest (April 2014) brochure:

"Height-adjustable boot floor – not available on quattro variants or in combination with Towing equipment, Audi sound system or Bang & Olufsen sound system"

So.. Once again, is the brochure wrong, or has something changed with later cars?

Ahh bit sneaky by not posting it under the page where the actual option to where it relates to are listed.

Anyway. To answer the OP's question:

S3. 8V. 3dr. Quattro. Upgraded Sound System. Space Saver Spare. Non adjustable boot floor.

Distance from floor to roof headlining = 68 cm.

Mine doesn't fit without taking it completely apart - and its a small one

Chill mate but it definitely was stated that it would reduce space. Checked the MY15 brochure and it's gone but swear I'm not going mad.

Lol it's ok, I'm just trying to get across that the B&O definitely, categorically *doesn't* impact the boot space at all :p

One thing I don't know is whether the saloon is affected in any way as the sub is in the rear shelf on that model - does that mean the shelf is thicker and encroaches lower into the boot? Not a clue on that one.

Maybe the brochure just means you loose the space where a small crevis would be that the sub sits in haha

That's what Audi might say, but I've seen an A3 with a subwoofer with an adjustable boot height at a dealer.

The Quattro I didn't look at but I can imagine it wouldn't because there's obviously more stuff back there.

I've seen one too - on my drive lol! :p

Dunno if they've changed something on more recent cars or the brochure is just wrong.

Sorry not trying to be funny but why dont you go measure it by yourself at the dealership? I'm sure they wouldn't mind at all? Not being funny again but you could even bring your mum's wheelchair and try to fit it?

Thanks a lot. It's going to be tight but the non quattro may tip the balance

I would but they only have a SB and saloon there unfortunately

How tall is the wheelchair? That 68cm measurement is a vertical measurement, if you were to tip the wheelchair at an angle, the same angle as the tailgate glass, you'd get a much longer measurement.

That was recently, in the last couple of weeks. However, there was also some confusion with the dealer about whether you get a spare wheel or not. The configurator says you have to specify a sound system or towing equipment to get a spare wheel but my dealer says not. You get a spare wheel anyway.

I have the Audi sound system with the sub in the boot. I don't see that it causes any additional loss of space (including still being height adjustable) - the issue for me is more that the physical boot space is considerably too small for my wheelchair without dismantling, and its a very compact fixed frame one.

Certainly worth visiting your dealer...

Il be getting my car this week, hopefully by wednesday...and will be able to confirm if my (yes my) wheelchair fits in.
Saddest thing is that im adapting my a3 :(going to have to have these commoners touch my beloved a3 before i can even drive it.

But basically i should be able to confirm that my wheelchair fits or not (without the seats going down) before the end of this week

If you don't have the B & O you can adjust the level of the floor so errrr yer it does

Makes no difference... If you DO have the B & O you can adjust the level of the floor in exactly the same way.

So errrr no it doesn't!

The towbar also makes no difference if you just remove the pointless bit of foam they give you for storing the towbar in, which is a pain anyway as it means you have to lift the whole boot floor to get to it which might not always be possible! I bought a heavy duty velcro bag to store mine in, it's perfect. The bit of foam is somewhere in storage at home so I can put it back in if I ever sell the car...
