"Statler's A5 Sportback Anticipation and Build thread

Totally agree..

Had a call after my last email. It's being built next week, but that's not week 28, they work in different weeks apparently. Total bull**** . It is 'definitely' due with them mid-August. I've told them I want to collect it w/c 11th August so they'd need to get the proverbial digit out!

I know that they won't know until they have VIN and confirmation that build is complete from Audi, so I've been promised an update when they get that.

More waiting, it is totally rediculous in his day and age. Audi need another factory if they are this busy...

Really strange, you, an unhappy customer who will be at our dealership meet and questioning them, that will make them red faced in front of the rest of us potential customers

Steve wont be disgruntled at the dealership meet. He can have a nice relaxing day looking at the other cars and enjoying the tour. :) x

I'll be good and they can ply me with Audi goodies for keeping quiet :D

It is when you consider BMW are more like 6 - 8 weeks IIRC. Certainly when I was looking they looked at me like I was a bit mad when I said Audi were quoting 6-9 months for the S5...

I'd love to be in the market for a car and the Dealer have a car (damn close) to my spec & colour sat in his compound ready to go deal to be done no waiting .... that would be bliss !

Fingers crossed for this next time round :)

You've got more chance of finding a four leaf clover or picking a winning lottery ticket chap, dealers cars are often bizarrely specced by someone who seems to have used the pin the tail on the donkey approach for selecting options,

Do you know, there was one car that met my spec except it had the Tech Pack which I wasn't willing to pay for... and now I'm getting it as part of the spec FOC.

If only I'd had a crystal ball...

It's starting to get real now... quick update

The A5 should be rolling down the production line this week

Wheel is repaired and refund from Tyremen has been processed. Got £30 back which is better than a kick in the teeth, talking of which, it's the Dentist tomorrow... I'd rather take the car for MOT than go to the Dentist. MOT is very stressful here in NI, like a school exam, as it's done in a Govt run testing centre.

Anyhoo, the rest of the winters are in the repairer, I know they'll take good care of swapping the tyres over.

Next big thing is the NI Chapter meet at Audi Belfast on 26th July. Should have a good contingent from Audi-Sport in attendance. Even Aunty Sandra will be there to keep us in check and make sure we don't ask nasty questions.. things like "Where's me effin A5?"...

Hi mate I've just moved here, what's this event I'm in Lisburn.

Oh and the mot here is crazy, they said I'd have to wait for weeks for a test, so I rang every five minutes for a cancellation. The hours later I was driving to Larne, after being there for 15 mins I was in my way back with a pass cert, how the hell does it take so long to get seen when it's so efficient?

Was away last week so didn't overly think about the car!
Possibly three weeks left.
Audi-Sport meetup at Audi Belfast on Saturday to look forward to.

Some of you chaps have been able to find out what ship your car is on and when it left Emeden, how did you go about that?

Also, as I'm in Bracknell on the 10th August I was thinking of travelling the hour and a half to Audi's in the Park.
Anyone know if I'll get in in the Jag?
Would love to see this but the site suggests Audi only...

Sorry steve, its audis only. Parl somewhere outside the park and go in on foot, if you do go, look for asn stand and go get a free burger. :) x
 
I haven't really looked into going to AITP but I will take a look and might well do so. If I do I'll let you know and can give you a lift if you wanted. (But don't pin your hopes on me if you get another offer! ;) )

Well, blow me down, my car is at Audi Belfast. That must be a record delivery....
Going to see it on Friday and sort out paperwork, reg transfer etc.
Much as it pains me, I'm putting delivery off until 13th August as the plate will take 10-14 days to transfer and I'm away for some of that time.

I'm too old to get very excited, but my teenage brain has over-ridden the OAP body.... :yahoo:

I'll take a few pics on Friday, they want to store it away as I'm not picking it up until the paperwork is completed, but I'll ask if we can get a group hug round it, lol

Honestly? Noooo... have you seen the state of the ferry from Dublin to Holyhead?
Days old car with door dings doesn't appeal to me!

Nice thought tho but it'll take at least 10 working days to get my personal plate transferred and since DVLNI has now closed, I'm depending on Swansea being up to speed on this...

Well the anticipation is almost over. I'm sitting in Audi Belfast and should get a first look at my new car shortly!

I'm strong, but decidedly wilting having seen it. I want my personal plate and so I'll have to wait.... :-(

Ok, some images of the Pre-PDI state, it's still on its suspension transport blocks apparently which is why I wasn't allowed to drive it this morning.

Shod in Pirelli P-Zero tyres and a bit grubby, but I'm very pleased with the result. It's just struck me that in the WOW I didn't stick the key in and have a look at the toys... well time enough for that!
Registration docs handed over for the plate transfer, final costs agreed, pickup at Midday on the 13th August.

Nice. Once again it reminds me how good a colour Ibis White is for the Sportback. Saw a white S5 Coupe the other day and IMHO the Ibis somehow just works better on the Sportback... Ibis and the BE makes for a very nice combo. You must be hopping about with excitement, even if that's not appropriate for your age! ;) :laugh:

Just had a great meet up with the NI guys at Audi Belfast.
2 hour tour was excellent and was good to put faces to names.

Definitely going to try to get up to AiTP when we are in England.
