My 2013 A3 Sportback Sport has filament DRL's and Halogen headlights. Even Ford Focus's have LED's now, so I feel at little short changed! Quick question, can Xenon's and LED DRL's as fitted on the S-line be retrofitted and anyone know the cost?

I had a loaner S-line 8V for two weeks and I loved the lights, even though the 18 inch wheels, Conti's and Sport suspension were awful for ride and road noise!

There was a thread about this recently, but retro-fitting Xenons will not be cheap. It's not just the headlight units you need, but levelling kit, washers, new headlights switch for the interior and some coding as well with VCDS probably.

Somewhere in the region of £2k to £3k if using genuine OEM parts I should think. (I think each light unit is approx £750).

Thanks. Sounds like a heck of a lot to spend and I somehow doubt I would get my money back at resale time. Think I'll put up with the halogens :)

I asked this recently, I just missed out on buying a set of xenon units from eBay at a very good price. But it does look a lot of work in all honesty.

I've just changed my halogen bulbs for higher Kelvin bulbs, giving out a much nicer light, instead of the washed out yellow

I don't have a before shot unfortunately but here's the side lights:

Dipped Beam:

I didn't want to go too blue on the dipped so I've gone for bright white . The pics don't do them full justice. Much nicer in person :)

On the plus this cost me £20, where as the conversion would cost around £2000! If done properly

Which one? The side light?

Thanks a lot, have you got any pics of your car with these bulbs lit?

you can see the difference with the standard fogs

Thanks for the pics, they look good, is it legal to have them that bright then? Also any idea where I can find the led DRL bulbs for the A3? Sorry to be a pain but I don't know what to look for!

To be fair, only the top trim level Titanium X has Xenons and LED DRLs, just as with the S-Line A3.

From a quick gander, it doesn't even look like you can add them as an option to lower models with the Focus.

You can't get a led drl for your car bud as the function is shared for the full beam.

This is what you need to get it whiter

Could you send the link for both bulbs please? I haven't got the car yet but dreading them yellowish looking lights!

Sorry I've been away with work the last few days, but here you go:

Philips x treme vision (dipped beam) what I have in the above picture:

Very bright! Really light the road up. But they aren't blue a such, whiter than standard. 'See rather than be seen'

Also dipped:

Very Icey white, diamond to a degree. These are a look at me kinda light, but not the brightest.

OSRAM LEDriving LED Retrofit W5W interior lights 2850WW-02B Warm White 4000K 80% less power consumption in double blister: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
Side lights, my favourite as they really stand out. Such a nice colour. But very pricey! Get what you pay for though.

I have seen what they look like on the car bud, they do get rid of that yellow as a drl and make it a nice ice white rather than yellow like you see on all the mk6 golfs.

Trups

Despite the price I've gone and purchased a set, I'll get some 50/50 pics up once they've arrived and are fitted

Cheapest on eBay lol. A stock bulb from audi is £30 Alone.

There are set of led headlights for £800 on the bay, is that too good to be true?

Got these fitted today, they defo look whiter from the off set, its hard to gauge with such a bright day mind. I'll wait until night comes in and ill get some pics posted

Right... I managed to get some pictures of my upgraded DRL's. The Ebay ones are definitely whiter, but they are not quite as bright. I've taken some pictures to show:

Left: Standard, Right: Ebay Bulb

Left: Ebay, Right Standard

DRL Mode:

Ebay bulb

I also had a fiddle with the side lights, whats peoples opinions, neither are standard but does the white bulb or the blue one look better?

I do also have Philips X Treme vision in my dipped beam, they are mega bright but im looking for more style so I'll try some blue vision

I have used the Philips Extreme Vision in the past and been pleased with them over OEM but that was on an A3 8L

John.

I do like them and they're brighter than the standards. They just aren't as white as I was hoping so I'll be swapping them out when my new ones arrive
