l left my old standard Se shocks on when fitting my eibach springs and now theyre getting a bit bouncey. I want to fit the 1BE spec sports shocks, but not go and spend a fortune. So ive been scanning all the normal new old stock clearouts and the last two letters keep differing of the part number. Do these mean anything or is it just a superseeded part numbers?

8e0413031 CK/CL/CP/DJ?

Nothing really comes up on searches apart from people asking the question.

I've got the correct weighted springs for my car (very akward model) but want to know if the dampers have load rating or they are all the same?

Have a look on vagcat and check the part numbers.

just spent 2 hours on Vagcat and PlanetVAG.com PR deoder and now know every suspension option for the A4 front and back (got carried away:rockwoot:)

anyone using the google search and finding this the last digits do mean something.

there are 5 suspension options on the b6 a4:
1BA standard
1BE sport
1BV sport
1BD S4
1BR comfort rough-road

and there are 19 different front axle weights 1-19 but for the shocks they are batched in 1-7 and 8-12.

with these two bits of info you can find out if you want 8E0413031BN/CK/BP/CL/BT/CN/CA/CP/BJ/CF/CG/AS/BK/BE/CB/BF/CC

The correct sport shock absorbers to fit on my 3.0 quattro avant is 8E0413031 BP or CL on the front and 8E0513033 G or N on the rear :)

Are you now on the look out for another A4 to buy with these shocks fitted Ron! Lol

:lmfao: I may well be. I do have a set of 'ck's off the blue one for sale, but want new ones really :)

Its something to do of an evening once the kids are asleep. I helped with a R32 engine into a mk2 golf not long ago and i was in charge of the wiring. I spent weeks trauling wiring diagrams over and over to get it finalised.

It all goes in my magic notebook. Heres todays jottings for future reference ;)

As I said before you have too much time on your hands, now get that grass cut!

Cheers for your time and effort Ron. With your guide I've also sussed out part numbers for upgrading from SE spec to Sport Spec.

I need to cross reference now with Sachs, Monroe or Febi brands.

Cheers,

Dan

sorry to drag up old thread can the part numbers for shocks be crossed referenced to springs such as the colour codes

Didn't look into springs at all i'm afraid, i've got eibach springs so didnt even look what sort of codes spring have on the a4.

I see a few people are finding this on a search, i thought id just put it on a table to make it a bit clearer.

Please note i have not don't any real time searching on cars themselves, this info has come purely from Vagcat and PlanetVAG.com PR deoder.

Just as an example 2 cars i have had i know a 1.8T FWD CVT is weight catagory OJG - 7 and a 3.0 tiptronic quattro is OJL - 11.
