My car went into limp mode a few days ago and then the warning light came on. I took it to a garage and they scanned it and it has come up as the EGR valve, i tried the spray you can get but no joy :(

The new Part is £300!!!

Anyone know of anything i can do without changing it?
Anyone else had this problem?

The car has only done 50,000miles!!

Its an 2010 A3 S-line 140 remapped

Many Thanks James

Okay so the weekend i removed a part which i thought was the egr valve to clean it! After cleaning it the light has gone off and all is fine!

BUT!!!!!

Apparently this isn't even the rite part I removed and clean haha!! Someone said it was the throttle butterfly?
But it has solved the problem, can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks James

diesels dont have a throttle body, maybe it was the anti shudder valve

That is the''intake manifold flap'' also know as the ''throttle body'' When you shut down the engine this makes your engine shut off smoothly,as when the key is turned off,it shuts the flap, which cuts off the air supply to the engine, which also helps if your engine ever over runs due to too much oil being dumped into the engine, which happens if you ever have a turbo fail.

When my EGR valve failed on my old car it cost £300 for the part also. No repairable tho as the flap snapped off the rod that opens and closes. handy

check your vacuum solenoid block. the box that all the pipes go to. mine was dirty and this caused the vacuum pressures around the vehicle to be offset which caused my egr light to come on (insufficient air flow). In the end i found that because one of the holes in the block was dirty and blocked up, it caused too much vacuum suction to the egr which in turn caused the vehicle to run strange and the egr light to come on. so worth checking it and cleaning it. its like a mesh that covers the holes. usually the pipe that runs to the air filter sucks in crap.
