S3 which discs with ds2500 pads

As the title I've bought a set of ds2500 pads for the front of my S3 and looking at discs.
I replaced my discs with mintex discs and Pagid pads in January this year.
After a short time I started with brake judder!
I got another pair of discs through warranty and after 4000 miles they judder slightly already.
I'm not particularly hard on brakes but these Mintex discs certainly make it look that way.
Hubs are true and clean and pads are free as are the slides so time to bite the bullet.
As I've said I've bought some ferodo ds2500 pads but not sure what discs to match them too.
Do I go oem?
I found sound drilled and grooved discs made by kinetix which look good and well priced

I'm running stage 2+ but usually drive fairly quick A roads and motorway.

Also found some Brembo discs at a good price.

I'd be inclined to go with the Brembo's being a known,quality item,assuming the fit etc is correct.

After reading reviews on the eBay specials I think your right.
Probably going to go with the Brembos when I find a good price from a reputable place where I know they're 100% genuine.

LOL.....I have an opinion on everything!

I tend to avoid ebay specials as you may not get what you're after,but the Brembos are a known quantity,like the DS2500s.
I found the DS2500s OK for road use,and I'm sure you'll find the same...enjoy!

I have the drilled kintex on my 3.2 at the moment, I got them for 150 from eBay, been on for 20000 miles with no issues. My car is never tracked so haven't tested them to the limits.

Yeah dhl have brought them in to the country and parcelforce have them for delivery tomorrow.
On 12 hour days tomorrow and Friday then nights Saturday and Sunday.
Maybe I'll fit them Friday night or Saturday.
Fitted my superpro anti lift kit today so lots of mods at once.

I had the Superpro kit fitted to mine.

I don't think it makes as big a difference as maybe getting the ARB's and coilovers done,but it does sharpen the handling,and improve traction a bit.
I think it's worthwhile,but I'd definitely get the other bits done first.

Well fitted my brembo discs with my ds2500 pads and all feels good so far.
Still bedding them in only done 40 miles but they seem very quiet.
One thing I will say is the mintex discs I removed are a bit lighter than the Brembo's.
That brought me to wondering if they were genuine due to the plain box the mintex came in.
After a call to mintex uk it seems they are genuine just a lesser quality I think.

Brakes have now done over 100 miles and have pretty much bedded in.
Very impressed so far with good initial bite no squeal or noise.
Brakes feel much stronger than my last setup with much better feel.
Will update again once I've done 500-1000 miles.

These took a few hundred to properly bed in, now they have I must say I'm very happy with them.
No noise or vibration and great stopping power.
I must agree with other reviews saying you lose some of the initial bite but once your used to it you don't notice it, when you do press the pedal it's a very nice progressive brake with much more stopping power than standard setup.
The other bonus is I hardly get any brake dust and my wheels stay clean.

Good to hear you're pleased with them, I've always rated DS2500.

I have to ask though, a few hundred miles to bed them in? To get the best from them you're supposed to bed in performance pads following quite a specific bed in procedure.

For example here's Brembo's:

Bedding -

It is very important to follow proper brake bedding procedure following installation. This is necessary not only for optimum performance of the system, but also to avoid onset of judder (vibration felt through brake and steering).
When fitting pads to used discs, the discs must be in good condition and be within the original manufacturer’s manufacturing tolerances. In case of any doubt, new discs should be fitted.
Be aware that with new brake system components, the braking performance will be reduced until the pads and discs are fully bedded. Use extreme caution while driving the vehicle under these conditions. If done on public roads obey all traffic laws and do not endanger yourself or others.
The purpose of this procedure is to gradually increase the temperature in the components without thermal shock and to mate the brake pad and disc friction surfaces, generating a uniform transfer layer.
Perform at least 20 brake applications using medium deceleration (approximately 60% of maximum) starting from 60mph and slowing to 20mph. Do not come to a stop. Accelerate back to the starting speed allowing 20-30 seconds before beginning the next brake application.
After completion, drive the vehicle for at least 5 minutes with little or no braking in order to adequately cool the components.
When it can be done legally, or on a closed circuit, a secondary bedding operation is beneficial. Repeat the above procedure for 5 to 10 brake applications increasing the starting speed to 80mph and increasing the deceleration rate to 80% of maximum. After completion, drive the vehicle for at least 10 minutes with little or no braking in order to adequately cool the components.
The system is now ready for normal use. This entire procedure must be complete before driving the vehicle as normal. It is especially important that this process is completed before any extended same-speed driving is done (i.e. Motorway travel). Failure to follow these instructions greatly increases the likelihood of judder development.


I'm sure my last set of DS2500 came with a note in the box stating something very similar.

Yeah pads came with a bed in procedure which quickly gave good brakes, although once the car had covered about 250 miles they seemed to become much stronger, unless it was me gaining confidence in them.
