Think the HPFP is on the way out

Crikey I've not posted in here for a while, too busy with another project... anyway the other day I noticed the smell of fuel coming from the car, upon further inspection it appearers the smell is most strong from around the HPFP. I've also noticed its started clicking and tapping rather loudly. I cant see any DTCs that have flagged up in the engine logs but it does seem like symptoms of the HPFP being past its best. I'll have to whip off the HPFP and check out the follower, admittedly I think I've done 20K miles since I replaced it. I upgraded the HPFP internals back in 2010 with the first gen Autotech internals and I think parts have been revised since.

I'm contemplating going for the LOBA HPFP since its cheaper then buying a new HPFP and upgrading it.

I was about to post up my car for sale but now I'm replacing the HPFP I think I may as well stick with it

Well considering your mods I would think it might be a smart option to pull off the HPFP. And have a look as I think they advice to check it every 5-7k miles when running stage 2 or more.

It might be the rubber seal around the fuel pump. Just have a look if there is any fuel leaks as such. Normally when its on its way you will notice flat spots on W0T.

Auto tech are known for seizing up after a while. It's cheaper to send your current pump to APR for £470 for a full rebuild and an authenticity stamp. Plus you can run upto 155bar of fuel pressure alongside a 155bar fuel return valve. Then a cheeky RS4 intank fuel pump... ThenWind up the boost!! Haha!! 😃

Speak to Alex at AKS Tuning mate. Also allows you to max out the S3 injectors at 500bhp.

Update,
It turns out the HPFP was good, its the fuel pipes that were shot the pipe with the banjo bolt, anyway new part ordered & fitted I also swapped out the cam follower while I was there, strong like bull once again.

Heads up, I'm knocking up a for sale add shortly. The time has come to move on.
