Getting back on the road

Why are you blasting around doing 150mph when you've not had the map sorted?

Are you trying to make the new engine look like the old one?

i blasted about like that for over a year and the car has been on the mtm map for 8 years before the engine got wrecked (and they way the car gets drove at times is really hard)so it can't be that bad of a map can it ?? I have heard that mtm do run the cars on the lean side.

I will be getting a custom map as soon as I can anyways to see if there is any gains to be had

Hope all is well mate but have you checked and logged your fueling

As like i said before something caused the last engine to fail and really wouldnt be supprised if your fuel pump is struggling as mtm run bigger injectors @ 4 bar which is a lot on a standard fuel pump over all that time?

Not having a pop but would hate to see the engine possibly mani and turbo destroyed by running really lean :)

not yet mate as I only have basic vcds,a local guy who builds engines reckons I have over revved the engine and took the head off a valve but I am sure it never got over revved so still unknowen exactly what happened

i really do need to get a inline pump and custom map it's just getting the time to get it done as I'm away more than I'm home.

hows your beast going mate bet its mental

Robert, if you need a full vcds scan done, drop me a pm and i will give you a phone number for member in Stewarton who has a genuine ross tech vcds. :) x

Was suspended from work for the last few weeks but had the hearing today final warning so still got a job so can start spending on the car again

was wanting to get tufftys gt30 kit but with it being 50/50 on losing my job I couldn't commit to buy so the k26 will have to stay so going to get a new oem fuel pump and back brakes done really soon.

i got a large intake pipe from Stacey basically it's same idea as the b5 k04 tip but for k26,in Stacey's thread when this was fitted and the car was on the mtm map it over boosted higher due to the better flow what can happen with it over boosting ??

Shouldnt overboost if its mapped properly

If it does it will only hit limp mode, so you may aswell keep it on actuator pressure till it is mapped properly

it would be on the mtm map that's on it just now Karl would it adapt to the extra flow ??

When the car goes in the garage for the brakes and fuel pump was thinking on getting the sports cat gutted but have read that lower back pressure can effect torque and turbo seals anyone got any advice ? My car only has lambda before the cat so won't get eml on the dash

Well nothing's really been done to the car of late just the routine stuff.its going to be getting parked up the side of the house soon as I'm going to canada on the 14th to work for a Canadian power line company.i thought about selling the car back can't bring myself to doing it so it will be parked up the side of the of the house

Where I'm going to be working is in the middle of no where so can save and will be making more money to so the plan is to go for something really crazy like a gt35 and a bombproof engine or is there a better turbo for 500+bhp ?? Also what's a rough price for a reliable 500bhp

Well that's the car retired for a while, next time I'm driving it it should be stroker'd and have a rather large turbo bolted to it :),I catch the big bird to canada in the morning for a few months of work and hope to have 500bhp when I'm back :)

Dr Evil One Million Dollars

...a little cheaper if doing it yourself... :)

I've done mine in stages so no idea of exact cost but turbo, mani and wastegate is around 2.5k alone... then a solid stroker build... 1k on valve train, 2k on bottom end... plus all the other stuff around it...

Plus all the other stuff that adds up like DP fabrication, coolant and oil lines, custom TIP etc... 3" exhaust system... all adds up

I wouldn't be able to do this myself mate,I have spoke to bill about this and it will be going to him when it's time as it's going to cost a lot I would rather have someone who knows the score do it and not do a half **** job.

I'm still kicking myself that I missed your gt30 set up cause of a carry on at work :(

Any recommendations on turbo I've seen a few cars on YouTube running pte 6262??

the 6262 is essentially the same comp wheel Bill has iirc... his is a hybrid... its a GT3582r with a 6262 wheel essentially

There is also the turbo Andrew@ALD has... thats what I would have gone for if I had the spare cash...

Bills is 600 and something bhp ? Hopefully I'll have something to be up there with the likes of Andrew Stacey and yourself and **** off some real expensive cars :)

That is at 8,500 rpm and with cams.... :)

Bill will advise you when the time comes... mine should be a decent benchmark for the capabilities of a GT3582 on what will be close to the manifolds Bill is now selling... also have a couple of other bit turbo builds using this setup so plenty of stuff to choose from :)

8.5k revs lol, yeah mate when the time comes I'm sure bill will keep me right

Wish I had the car here would be a right laugh I need Quattro over here soon

Well back from canada for a weeks holiday..got the car taxed and was out in it earlier brake discs were covered in thick rust but a few heavy stops and long lite stops soon cleaned them up...car felt great to drive as I've just drove a pick up truck over in Canada

Still want more power and torn between big turbo upgrade or a 8p s3 stage 2+ spec and keep the 8l too

Sending my spare k26 turbo of to beachbuggy tomorrow for him to have a play with to see if he can do anything with pretty keen to see what can be done

Well the car is due to be transported to bill on the 7th July and delivered to him on the 9th..going for a stroker and gt35 pretty much same as tufftys spec...when I was home the car started smoking really bad and looks like valve stem seals so never bothered fixing it as I had planed on a build from bill...once the engine work is done then it's on to the paint as it is a mess but once it's all done will be worth it :)

Will be a monster I'm sure ;)

Did dan ever look at the possibilitys with the K26? Curious of what his thoughts were if so? Expect biggest hold up with that setup improvement wise was the turbine housing AR

Dan was going to have a look Stacey but i never got around to sending him the k26 I have a spare in a box as well it was pure laziness tbh....I'd like to see what what's possible with the k26 too

something silver was sat outside workshop when I arrived this morning.?
