Hi all just wondering if anyone has fitted a loba lo400xx turbo to their s3 I was looking at going 500bhp but after doing a lot of searching I think it's a bit much don't like to say it but I think keeping it under 450bhp might be a saveing in the long run ie gearbox engine internals and so on have been told it bolts straight on just need to adapt the air intake at the turbo end I'm useing a twin forge and would like to keep it if I can

Paging Alex

LOL...and here I am....

OK...Loba LO400xx....the best people to approach on this are Statlers, who as far as I know, have done a few of these previously.

The basic idea and the turbo are fine, but you will be limited to less than 500bhp obviously.
An alternative that's also worth looking into is APR's GTX2867 kit, which will produce about the same power, but is pricier, and is more of a full turbo replacement kit as opposed to a bolt-on plug and play type solution.

The reasonable limits for a stock internal engine are in the region of 440lbs of torque, and we know thats a reliable figure,as mine and others have run that on stock rods and pistons over many thousands of miles.

Above that,it's best to have a built engine.

Bear in mind also that you'd need a clutch capable of that sort of torque as well as uprated brakes and suspension if you haven't already got those.

Wow mate you should be a genie lol to be honest I'm trying to get a reasonable amount of power without straining everything I don't want to upgrade the gearbox nor the engine and would like to keep the s3 calipers but upgrade the disks and pads just to save a bundle of cash . iv just ordered kw v3 suspension as now I'm at stage 2+ it does feel a bit bouncy when hitting roundabouts lol also from what I'm looking at I can fit the loba xx str8 on with only a mod on the air intake not sure how true that is yet was told should see around the 450bhp mark which does sound good for what I want

LOL.....try shoving me back in the bottle once I've been let out.

I think that the Loba would offer you the sort of power and torque you're looking for,and up to the sort of figures I've quoted,no-one(myself included) has had issues with stock internals.

Definitely upgrade the rotors and pads, and the kW V3's were what I was using up until recently,so those will be fine.
Just be prepared to spend some time adjusting bump and rebound to what suits you best.

Other things you might want to think about are a bigger intercooler(such as the Airtec or ProAlloy),and WMI as well,to get the maximum out of what you'd have.

One other point.....the Forge Twintake is not the best of the current intakes, but should be fine, although the Revo and AMD may offer more.

Whats WMO is that water meth if so I don't know much about it and yes airtec is going to be ordered in 3 weeks when I back of my holiday the only thing holding me back at the mo is the money for the clutch so might do that next and run it in a bit them hopefully withing 6 months put the turbo on

Yes.....water/meth.

A 50/50 mix will reduce inlet and cylinder temps, and increase octane rating into the bargain, although the latter only becomes a benefit if the timing is adjusted to suit, and most of us don't do that.

I have an AEM kit on my car,set to come in at 8psi,and increase all the way to maximum boost at around 2bar.

Others to consider are Devil's Own and Aquamist, although the Aquamist is a very expensive kit,and the AEM works perfectly.

Clutches are a bit of a problem sometimes for Stg3 cars.....the paddle types are pigs to use around town, and there appear to be issues with some of the Loba clutches currently.
All of the suitable clutches are also SMF types.

Mine is a Spec Stg3+ clutch which is traffic friendly as well as good for 560lbs.

Also have a look at the GXT3071/6R. These are great bolt on turbos for the 2.0TFSi and give good power gains exactly what your after. If your after a complete kit I supply them from CTS Turbo.

May just need to be a little careful of the torque on a 3071 if the boost is turned up a fair bit,on a stock engine, and if you go above 1.7bar,you would also need an external boost controller,or a visit to Rick@Unicorn.

The good thing about doing this now is the variety of kits around.

When I had mine done originally there was only BSH(now defunct and for LHD cars in any case) or ATP to choose from.

Now you have CTS,ATP,APR,and Loba...much better range, and easier to choose something more specific to what you want.

Likely not an awful lot to be fair.
I sold a used kW v3 kit for around £700 and I would expect this to be worth a fair bit less unfortunately.

The kits from CTS you can custom make as in choose your turbo, injectors, intercooler etc etc. The kit you actually get is one of the most comprehensive kits on the market and well worth the money. The attention to detail and craftsmanship that go into all the parts is amazing. Have a look at their catch can and you decide.

For my current requirements if I was building now that would probably be the kit I'd choose for the flexibility in what you can have.
