As the previous thread was BW 25, 26, 27, 28 I thought we needed another one for later build cars such as mine.

Just had the promised phone call from my dealer to say that my car (ordered on 4 June) will begin production w/c 14 July (BW29). My TT took about 5 weeks from then until delivery but wondered what is the likely timescale for the A3 as that is (presumably) manufactured in a different factory - Ingolstadt?

Really excited now that the spec is fixed - can't think I want anything extra! Dealer says there weren't many other boxes to tick!

Mine is due to arrive on Wednesday, has taken 5 months so far from order.

That's a very long time surely? I was originally quoted 12 weeks for mine. Where are you and what was special about your order? Maybe the gold-plated bodywork took longer LOL.

Ordered my S3 on 31 May and received the build week 4 June. My BW is 30 and the car should be with my dealer mid August. My current plan is to collect on 1 September but as I have a PP I may bring it forward if I'm too excited by its arrival.

Yes I also have a PP so I am happy to collect the car in August.

Are there no other cars in BW29 - 32?

Mine might be! It was spec amended from one planned week 31, order placed on May 30th. The dealership I've bought from are meant to be updating me weekly, but have not managed that yet. When I contacted them I was told it might be end of September now, which doesn't make me confident on the build week! All very vague.

Maybe they need another phone call...

Philbert, I have had the same sort of service from Bristol Audi.

Every update I have had from them so far is due to my own chasing. Mine was BW29 from the off. Didn't hear anything for 6 weeks so went to Audi UK Customer Services and they came back to me with BW27. 2 weeks ago i emailed and they said "all looks good for BW27" and still not a 'frozen' BW27.

However I yesterday received my first update without chasing... Telling me the cars been built and is on it's way here!

Great news! Mine is BW29 also and my dealer has promised to phone me every 2 weeks with the latest status update. So next call is due on Monday and perhaps I'll be lucky to see my build moved forward?

That is encouraging to hear! Not long until it arrives then!

I see above that someone ordered on the 31st May and had their build week confirmed a week later. My dealer should know something less vague by now. If not, I'll give customer services a call.

I was told of the build week about 10-14 days after order (I ordered mine on April 12th).

I ordered on 31 May and was given a build week (30) on 4 June. I was quite surprised it came through that quickly to be honest.

Thanks guys, I'll be mentioning that in my next call.

After some "gentle encouragement" for more information on my part, my dealer has told me that my A3 sportback 1.4 s line is provisionally build week 31 (28th July?), with delivery 4-5 weeks later. Just in time for a 64 plate!

Great news - tell us a bit about what spec you've ordered.

Very basic I'm afraid, she-who-must-be-obeyed only let me have acoustic rear parking and interior light pack. At least the black paint I wanted was free! I wanted a lot more, but compared to the Y reg corolla I currently drive (with knackered air con in this weather!!) I think I will cope just fine. Not sure about the part leather seats in this hot weather though...

I am in build week 31! Looking forward to it turning up. S3 Sportback in Daytona Grey with a few extras.

Hi all,

I have an order number for my A3 saloon which was ordered early June and promised for mid-September when my current lease expires. Are the cars built in order number order or does it depend upon the spec of the car? I am curious to know if I have a number close to anyone on here who has a progress update!

Cheers!

Andrew

My wife wanted us to finish with caravanning so, as recompense, she rather "owed" me - hence my list of options! But hey whatever spec we have we're damned lucky to be waiting on nice shiny new A3 cars. I just wish the wait was less!

Hi,
Just received a call from my dealer, my A3 Cabrio productions is estimated for week 30... So I'm waiting with You!! :sm4:

I am very much enjoying my Cabrio... you are the third on this forum.. We are a rare breed!!

Just saw our order on the dealer screen, we have been booked in for a week 29 build too, looks like our cars should be on the same boat when it set sails down under!

Hi, I'm another Aussie, (Sydney) and my build week is 29 too - must be a busy week at the factory or I should say factories.
My order is for - S3 Sportback, Daytona Grey, Assistance pack, Magnetic ride, B&O sound, Load through/rear arm rest, Hold Assist & 5 twin spoke star design wheels.

It's was ordered early April, and it's a long wait. I'm hoping for September delivery but it could easily be October.

Also is there anyone out there with a Daytona grey 8V S3 Sportback yet - with some photos, and hopefully without the exterior black treatment?

Being a SB though, it will be coming out of the factory in Germany and not Hungary where the sedans are built.

From my understanding talking to the dealership, they block out weeks for different countries, so looks like week 29 is a week for Aus spec cars.

Hi Longy, will your Hungary built sedan ship from the same port? If so it'll be interesting to see how long they all take to ship? Hopefully it won't be long now until it happens. Where's yours shipping to?

My son wants a sedan and we're currently working out the details for his, prior to the start of negotiations. Ahhh the delights of waiting ages for a new car.......

Hi gandv,

I believe they get transported to Germany from Hungary, and ship out from the same dock.

In Canberra, so went it docks in Port Botany, will then need to wait until it gets transported down here.

We've waited 5 months already, so what's another 4 :)

Another 4 months ... groan. Yes you're right Longy. And at least it won't be long now to hopefully get build confirmation and a VIN: and then we can keep occupied tracking a ship.

:)

Yes they are transported by special train from Gyor to the port of Emden in Germany.

Not sure of the exact build week but my partners company car was due for delivery mid August so I would presume it is/was one of these build weeks?
He has just received an email to say that delivery has been pushed back to the 30th of September due to delays at the factory.

Sad Times

Is this a saloon or sportback?
