Hi team

I have some question perhaps you can help

1. There are a way to know which is the actual map version
2. How often the maps are updated
3. I realize that I can download maps (from My Audi) , does it means I have free updates
4. The size of the maps is almost 16GB, so before start download I want be sure that I don’t download such amount of data for nothing…., my actual verison is: V03959800PR 0078 ECE 2014. is it the last one ?

Thanks
Manuel

I guess you know that your car will come with the latest version pre-installed which I think you've got..

yes , I realy guess, ... but can I know the if the pre-iinstaled is the last one today or when can I expect new version ?
(I read some where, don't ask me where), that the version I have it's almost the same as 2013)

It you sign up to audio connect on their website you can see the latest version in there.

From the car... Menu. Setup MMI. Version information. Navigation database version

Also you can select which country you want to download updates for. If no plans to go out the UK the download is loads smaller than 16gb and will install quicker. Full maps take around 90 mins to install

I suspect our friend Manuel is not UK-based, but I guess you can limit the download to whatever country you reside in. But I am curious if you can install the update while you are driving, rather than sit on the driveway for 90 minutes with the ignition on?

I started the update when I left for work and it said you can carry on using sat nav while it updates. When I got to work it was half complete so I left ignition on. (engine not running) and it completed a while later but I had to turn ignition on once during update as I guess it turned off due to timeout to save battery in case left on by mistake.

Yes you choose which country you are in and download that, or download all of Europe I guess was the option for me

Thanks. So if the update is not complete by the end of my drive but I don't want to leave the ignition on can I lock up and leave it and it will continue next time I use the car?

Yea I think that would be the case. I mean I might carry on when you leave the car locked and walk away, but then you don't see progress bar. I've only updated once so no idea if that would work

Thanks. I guess I'll find out soon enough. I have an update downloaded but just need to get round to buying an SD card for the transfer.

I know the car can act as a wireless hotspot but it's a shame the car can't connect too a wireless network. Then the car could update direct from my home wifi while sat on the drive

Yes, I can limit the download selecting a country, (even I prefer also have other countries as Spain where I go often and don’t need pay for that) …. Any way it will be interesting to know which the actual version , mine : V03959800PR 0078 ECE 2014 I can I know if it the last without download an entiry pack, even after download I still don’t know the version downloaded (I got many files with 18.1GB, after saved on SD Card, but no idea regarding the version)

Today (in fact yesterday) a made a download (17,6 GB) it took almost 4,5 hours after that mores some hours to verify and copy to disk, now copying to SD card, still missing 87 mn (windows says).

I found on the folder \NavDB\DBInfo\0\default a file named DBInfo.txt with the contents:

PartNumber1="V03959800PS"
PartNumber2="V03959800LG"
PartNumber3="V03959800MC"
ApplicationSoftwareVersionNumber="0086"
SystemName="ECE 2014/2015"

Variant="ECE"
ReleaseName="2014/2015"
DevVersion="P86_N60S5MIBH3_EU_NT_Q3.13"

so, new version !! (Mine was xxxx78 and this one is xxx86)

After nearly 50mns .... the new version of maps was suceesfully installed. (now 2014/2015 was before 2014), do not know exactly what will have new ...

Regarding UK DBase file :
FileSize = "1062696618" - for 2014/2015
FileSize = "1092404079" - for 2014

29.7 MB more information

I hope it will be useful information for everyone.

Nice find, I think the maps are updated twice yearly and the last one was week 22 which is week beginning may 26th if I am correct.

Can I ask how you managed to copy the folder/files across to your SD card as I seem to be having problems with my 64gb card. It is formatted as exfat, but I have also tried fat32, and all that happens is I keep getting error messages about the folder, or files, I am trying to copy across are to big for the file system.
Cheers...

New version:

20140616_203903.jpg

I updated the whole EU map(about 17GB) through usbdisk. XFAT filesystem.
Worked fine. But I noticed that if I copy it to another location it did not work!? I just downloaded it straight to the usbdisk and that worked fine. But not first to the computer and copy it to the disk or to SD card. Don't know why.

The download took about 2h and the upgrade it self about 1h.

Hi, I figured that's what you might have done but thanks for your prompt reply. Downloading now. Are saying you used a USB hard drive?

Nope, errors with message it can't copy to the destination disc, despite it having copied some across.

I have a 32gb sd card I haven't done nothing special, just copy the files from the hard disk SD. (some weeks ago I have done a download directly to SD But I had to delete the files as they was the same version) not sure wich format.. don't know which source, but I have in mind that a 64gb is not sopprted (may be Im wrong)

Hi, yes you maybe correct about the 64gb sd card, I think I have a 32gb one in my phone I could try.
Many thanks for your help with this....

I have a 64GB SD card for music...and it works fine. Not sure if you can use one for updating. I would assume it would also work... I did the upgrade using a harddrive connected to AMI and that worked fine also. Even if the upgrade document/helper says you should use sd card. :)

Yes it's the same as card I use for music so I know it's OK
I might try a USB hard drive but will probably have to buy yet another connector :-(

I have a 32GB USB stick that I'm going to try this with. I'm not sure when I'm going to be able to do the update itself though... need to find a journey an hour long to do the update where I don't need to do anything else with the MMI!

Maybe you can. I've not done it before so don't know the process! Presume you have to keep the ignition on throughout?

No, someone else wrote up that it resumes after switching the car off and that the navigation could still be used whilst the update was in progress...

Fair enough. Nothing to stop me doing it then I guess!

I've slapped a FAT32 formatted SD card loaded with the new maps into SD slot 2 and initiated an update (let it get to 1% then turned ignition off).

However, won't be driving the car any distance until Saturday morning, so will see how it goes!

Nope, not at all, I am just copying over the files to my 32gb sd card now...

Well mine seems to be copying across ofk now, over halfway there, seems like a 64gb sd card was too large...

Started the map update this evening, it stated that the maps were 2014-2015 and that the navigation can continued to be used whilst the update was in progress. A symbol appeared on the bottom left hand side of the screen indicating that the update was in progress...

Missed all this talk... To give you the official Audi line... Mine kept failing when trying to update using a 64gb sd card. Took it to Audi and to cut a long story short got as good as accused of trying to put pirate maps on by a tech who insisted that nobody gets free updates. He even sent off the files to Audi Germany to try and get my warranty voided as he said it had fried the head unit... Anyway rang the Audi UK helpline to complain, and they apologised, within hour or so had a sheepish call of the tech to say that I needed to use 32gb class 10 card (they were very specific in this) so tried to copy the files across to 32gb sd card but I think the failed update had caused a problem with sd reader so it didn't work again!!! Anyway tried downloading fresh update files again using a 32gb USB stick and it worked this time.... But I think the fact that it will only work on 32gb sized memory unit is definitely correct regardless of what works when playing music.

Also the update itself takes less than 30 mins to load into the car and yes it will begin again after ignition turned off and yes you can continue to use MMI inc. nav whilst it updates.

But be warned, uk techs seem to be clueless about this so suggest contacting Audi UK immediately if you have problems and get messed about.
