Spark plug temperature comparisons (6's/7's/8's) - S3 2.0T (8P2)

Those plugs are way too cold, at this time of year in UK climate I would only run 7's

The ones I recommend in that link are 7's. If you read the detail in the thread you'll see why I gave up on oridiums and have never gone back (and never suffered since)

Right just refitting my 100 mile old PFR7S8EG see how we go thanks warren appreciate it

Still got flutter at 5k with those plugs in. I've just ordered a set if denso ik24s to try I live in hope! Really doing my nut I'm now!

Also check:

Coil packs
HPFP cam follower
Fuel rail pressure readings
Diverter valve

fitted ik24s and all was fine at first, also changed cam follower as precaution although old unit looked fine. ran ok for couple of months, (i dont do many miles) now fault back again. I just know when i remove plugs they will be black again! can you tell me how i go about checking diverter valve? and how to take fuel pressure readings via vagcom. thanks

Fit the right plugs and you won't need to check anything else.

Hi Warren, sorry if I am being thick here. Ive just read through this thread and I cannot see where you have recommended a non-iridium plug? I see you have listed the BKR7EIX and BKR8EIX which are both Iridium, so I can only assume that when you changed from Iridiums and have had no problems since, you were talking about the R7434-8? Which you say are not recommended for fast road use. So I admit I am confused.

Same trev, I have tried all iridium and the Recommended PFR7S8EG plugs and still have the stutter at 5k granted I've not run the PFR7S8EG long enough to see if they foul up but the point is it's still hesitates at 5k with those in. I will refit these now and try them which I'm sure will eliminate my low end misses but will still hesitate at 5k ill also scan the car on vagcom for codes and report back findings thanks

Imagedone some fuel rail pressure readings on vagcom yesterday after refitting PFR7S8EG plugs and getting rid of the crazy low end misfires. the graph below shows RPM V Fuel pressure readings. taken from 2k rpm to 6ishk rpm there seems to be abit of a dip around 5k where my hesitation is anyone have any more knowledge on this? thanks

trev, im running a ttrs yellow top, intank low pressure fuel pump, and hpfp is autotech internals.car is stage 2+ roughly running approx 400bhp so should be suffiecient and has run fine with this setup previously.

I've been running BOSCH F5DPOR (aka Audi RS2 plugs) in both the modified ed30 and S3 and never had a single mis-fire / issue.

anyone tell me if my fuel pressure log looks ok? looks to be dropping off at 5krpm to me is this normal?? thanks

Can you log requested vs actual fuel rail pressures and graph them? This might highlight your problem better.

already running two uprated fuel pumps low pressure(in tank) and hpfp internals (autotech) yes i can do that log nluk do you know what measuring block requested fuel rail pressure is?? and ill log it and graph it thanks

Engine module, group 230 IIRC.

rs4 fuel valve is already fitted to my car, tried gapping other iridium plugs down to 0.7mm changed cam follower to rule out about 6 weeks ago, for genuine item from tps. even though original looked fine. ill do some logging on fuel req v actual when i get a spare minute. thanks

No Trev this was carried out before I bought the car by storm developments I have the receipt I'm happy to check hpfp if you have any advice of things to look for thanks

Ah ok its probably fine then mate. I have always read that you need to be very clean when doing the autotech internals but I would say they were.

I'd like to think so! There supposed to be really good and know what there on about but never dealt with them myself

I've been running BKR8EIX's for the last 4 years on a stage 2 8p3, gapped to 0.7mm on 99 fuel with zero running issues.
