Just ordered a set of rear shock absorbers from Audi Watford, for my 2002 a4 Avant 2.5 v6 tdi sport Quattro.
Code (8E0 513 036 AF) (oxide red colour) £195.39 all in for the pair.Should be with me tomorrow lunch time if I'm lucky...
The question is are they fairly easy to fit?

cheers

Yeah, 2 13mm bolts for the top mount, then one bigger bolt holding the bottom in should take about 10mins per side

Are rear shockers an easy DIY to change then? I have one weeping oil so I think I'll order a set!

it's about as easy a DIY there is, hardest part is jacking the car! Some people suggest putting thread lock on the bolts.

Right...just got a friend to pick up my new rear shocks up and they are powder coated 'black'?
I thought they should be red oxide in colour for a sport model? The info on them says Part number 8E0-513-036-AF and made by MONROE.
(So I rang Monroe Uk as Audi are shut to see if they could shed any light on the matter but helpful fella on phone told me that they have never done red shocks and my car must be running aftermarket suspension?!):banghead:
Anyone know any different?:sos:

I was also under the impression genuine audi shocks were red oxide in colour. Are Monroe shocks what Audi use as standard from factory?

I googled images for Audi A4 B6 sport suspension https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=audi+a4+sport+suspension&rlz=1C1CHFX_en-GBGB570GB570&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=m9CIU5b_LLbLsASFxYCQBA&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=643#q=audi+a4+b6+sport+suspension&tbm=isch
Lots of red dampers, Monroe ones too!? 79

Going to try and sort this out this morning with audi parts, not that happy as i wanted to fit them this weekend. So just jacked my car up and checked the part numbers and its says 8E0 513 033 G.
Will let you know how I get on...

I have the same car in a 2001 year and acording to vagcat the correct part numbers are 8e0 513 036g, the same as what you have on the car, there are a few different variations depending on a code in the front of your service book. This can be found on the sticker, mine says 1BE and if you look at the picture below you can match it to the part number
DSC 0194

I would like to know the result as i have also found the part number ending in AF listed on a different parts catalogue, what also confuses me if anyone can answer is that the shock absorber ending in part number L is the one listed for sports type suspension. Mine is a sport model and the shockers are red but does not have sports type shockers fitted acording to the list. Anyone have any explanation as i thought red where sport and black where SE spec

Update! Having a bit of a nightmare with this..I've been down to Audi and got them to order part number 8E0 513 033L listed as (gas filled shock absorber/for sports-type running gear)to compare the AF and L. I've been told it will take up to 6 days to arrive from Germany...So the wait goes on.

L is only suitable for cars with a PR number of 1BD acording to vag cat, check the pr number of your car and compare to above

Right i see what you mean, just found 1 BE in my sevice book.So i wonder whats the difference is?S4 related shocks?

Right just spoken to Audi head office...they have confirmed that 8E0 513 036 AF (in black) are the correct shocks for my (1 BE) coded car.
So I can only think that Audi have stopped powder coating there sports suspension red!.. Anyway just received my new oem bump stops and dust covers from Monroe uk £20 for the two rears.Tonight's job is to fit it all!:)
