I agree! Be good to know. You got any work booked in with AMD mate?

Not yet mate, I'll tackle most jobs myself. Heard AMD is a good place to go tho wheres you nearest as I was looking at Amersham for when I get a bit stuck.

They are good I'm getting everything on mine done through them - probably do pay a premium but they are good and know alot more than I do! Haha - and Lakeside is only 25 mins from me so not far to go

nice to know, I can't find anyone recommended within an hour of me so suits to do it myself if can.

AMDTuning is a sort of separate entity from other parts of the AMD network and is the part that runs the BTCC team and has the high power builds etc.

They're the place to head for in the south and I'd hope my car is sufficient to testify to that.

Update :

Got a call from AMD and unfortunately wont be able to get KW’s V1s by the 30th but I can however get the equivalent spec Bilsteins - can anyone tell me what Bilsteins these would be ?

----> Think I answered my own question Bilsteins b14?

Cheers

Anyone confirm the above ?

****UPDATE****

Car has been with AMD all day and have got the b14 's, arbs and zero sixty discs and Mintex pads on and couldn't be happier ! Has massively transformed how the handling feels - will try and post some pics tomorrow for everyone

Sadly there was a couple of problems

Firstly- the dsg software update didn't work again so will have to wait until more updates are released

Secondly - the car front wheels had been spinning recently but i thought this could be normal with the power and it wasnt to bad - however ben at AMD told me my car had flagged up a fault being the Haldex Clutch Pump - open circuit - intermittent . So a call to audi to get it done while car is still under warranty !

More updates and pics to follow soon!

All the best Alex, as you've modded the power, drive train etc audi will probably not honour the warranty as the Haldex is drivetrain. Seen this TP1 flag posted on other threads. Hope all goes well tho. Can you de-mod before you go to Audi?

Check this before you go VWVortex.com - TD1 warranty flag

Man I just did mine Haldex pump under warranty how strange! No TD1 problems with mine however I always put old stuff on the car before taking it for any warranty repair.

Looks like they'll only post a TG1 if they see any mods, it doesn't look automatic through the ECU scan.

However when I take it for a service I only change the intake as its very obvious modification other than that had no problems with the milltek fitted on the car while they were doing last 2 services.

Hi Alex,

I'm really pleased you like the way the mods have gone.
The car understeers like a pig without that being done, and it makes a huge difference to the way it drives after.

The Haldex is great if you get a good one,and I think I've been fortunate with mine,as I know a number of people have had problems with it.
Audi may or may not honour the warranty, and it's often down to the local dealer as to whether or not theychoose to get funny about mods....my local dealer wasn't too bothered unless it was something very clearly down to what I'd done to the car,but again, other dealers get really sniffy about it.

Cheers Alex - looking forward to getting Haldex sorted then can see it at full potential!

With regards to that my local audi dealer has said they would cover anything under the warranty that hasn't been damaged as a result of any mods - when speaking to Ben the Haldex issue I have sounds electrical and any mods I have shouldn't have been the cause for it to fail, fortunately the part I'd need you can get separately about 170 for the pump - if my call at 8 this morning doesn't work I have a booking at amd next sat to get it fixed and use the money I would have spent on the dsg!.... just have to deal with an angry front wheel drive s3 haha

A failed call to audi which it think was a result of person I normally deal with wasn't working and all I got was the car needed investigating (I think they know the car has mods- doesn't help) on Monday and then would have to go back if they could cover it . So couldn't be bothered with going backwards and forwards so going to AMD to get it done next Saturday

Makes sense as they'll do a good job at a good price and if the local dealer is a bit dozey it's their loss.

Well I think it's stupid how I've told them what the problem is but they still want to see the car before they order parts !? I have one free service left at my dealers then all over to AMD in the future.

Is the Haldex Clutch pump a common fault then ? Will fixing it open up other faults on the Haldex?

I think it's just dealer protocols.

The pump does seem to be a failure point but there's no reason why that should leave it open to other problems.

Well I'm hoping it getting fixed won't show up the whole haldex unit needing changing because that will be bad haha

True.

Mostly the car is pretty tough though which is good!

Haldex pump fitted from audi cost nearly £500 which is not that bad considering pump on its own is about £160. In any case it puts doubts that the car will be reliable once the warranty expires.

That's the worry I suppose . Last thing I want is a car going constantly wrong ! 500 :0 getting mine done for 300 Inc vat ! But I suppose yours was covered under warranty!

Some pictures as promised - not great ones I'm afraid !

Lowered 25 mm

And the new discs

They are good brakes! Is it normal for them to be really squeaky!?

Let the pads bed in and if they still squeak AMD should be able to sort it.

No problem - they also make strange sort of continuous clicking noise when pressing them ? Not sure if that's just a wearing In thing again!

As mechanic69 says slotted/grooved/drilled discs will make a bit more noise.

Mine aren't exactly silent.

I maybe completely wrong but have you got them on the wrong side?? I would of thought the groove should lead in to the pad from nearest the hub first? That way any heat/water/dirt is thrown backwards/outwards away from the disc. That's the way I fitted them to my MINI but it may just be my thoughts.

What's the problem with DSG software? I may be able to help...

First time round the car wouldn't allow the software to be uploaded at all - second time round it was uploaded but when the car was tested it still didn't give full control in Manual - afraid I don't have the specifics on it though

Now you need bigger wheels :D. How do you find ride on the new suspension?

I was talking to AMD about this and they said not to do it as handling wont be as good as the 18's ! I do like the 19 black edition rotor wheels though!

By the way - what was the reason your Haldex clutch pump went? was your fault "defective - intermittent" OR "open circuit - intermittent" do you know the difference??

it was open circuit - intermittent, and I dont know the difference is unfortunately, maybe its down to some pump wiring or similar only guessing though. Wish I knew more about cars sometimes!:D.

BTW are you not looking for a milltek downpipe?:).

Mine is open circuit to, but see defective faults more? - Yeah snap! sure it would save money as well!

I am looking for a Miltek downpipe - not just yet but will be soon!

Similar advice here,as you'd expect, but I'm very glad I followed the advice,as the handling now is vastly improved.

Nothing wrong with the ride and appearance either.....shamless pimping aside..!
