Corrosion on b6 decision contested?

I've been to audi today and had them inspect the corrosion to my roof, roof rail and front wings today. All went well bit the warranty lady believes they will go 70/30 contribution.
My question is this, has anyone contested this decision with good results? Anyone's experiences are welcome! This may have been spoke about before but I'm after people who have contested the decision.

I work in a bodyshop for a living, the reason it begins on the roof is due to the "edge and fold" method they use to fit the roof so the corrosion is coming from the inside out, I'm not going to wear it.

Your lucky, I got offered 60/40 for my front wings but I had to pay the 60%. So I told 'em to "RAM IT"

I honestly think they chance there arm and see how many people push for a better result, to me for them to make even an offer to contribute is a declaration of "yeah there is a fault with this" bit we don't want to pay for it cause your car is old!
I've found plenty of information to the cause, VW now accept and pay 100% towards the cost of wing repairs as they now accept it as a common fault with golfs and passats etc.

This is what the roof corrosion is caused by, note VW say "warrantable... Yes" and seeing as Audi, vw etc use the same methods I can't see the problem with Audi saying yes, the joins are sub standard. Simple as that.

Mine got done under warranty. Fully. Previous owner had it done though so I don't know of his dealings first-hand. Either way, it doesn't look like they gave him much of a hard time. Probably helped that he was about a 6 foot 8 bodybuilder :)

Wings are starting to bubble on mine, mentioned it to the Service Manager on my the last service (couple of months ago) but he implied that it wouldn't get acknowledged due to it more than likely being caused by stone chips therefore not an 'inside-out' rusting issue. Would be helpful to know if anyone has had better luck and which dealership they used as I wouldn't mind approaching it a bit more vigorously. Obviously I know that it is usually the arch liner either rubbing or trapping sh*t under there but it's just arguing the toss and getting them to acknowledge the manufacturing defect isn't it? Easier said than done usually.

Well mate I've gone for roof, roof rail and wings, thing is mate a galvanising process is in place so should they rust like this? End of the day the arch liners are rubbing through the galvanised coating hence the wings are rusting! I'd give them grief, I plan on it.

Yeah man, needs sorting really. Like you say, them giving you a 50/50 or 70/30 or whatever is basically them saying "yes, we acknowledge there is a design/build flaw and we'll pay for some of it...but we want to get as much money out of you as we can anyway". Bit lame really, which Audi dealer have you taken yours?

Northampton Audi, it's not cool you can't give a 12 year warranty and then decide to only pay half as it's getting towards the end!

I keep hearing more and more about this, my arches have started bubbling, are yu saying if i kick of enough at Audi i could also get it done for free??

I noticed some bubbling on the roof rails on my 2003 B6 S4 a few weeks ago so I took it to Audi Teesside for the Warranty Inspector to take a look at it
He said they will probably come back with 70/30 split, 70% Audi UK to pay and 30% for me to pay!
Sure enough that's what happened, so I contested this, saying it's Audi at fault and therefore 100% of the repair Audi should pay
I got nowhere with this, Audi Teesside said because I'd not had my last service at Audi Teesside, they would not pay the 30% for me, yet I have a stack of bills/receipts for well over £2000 for genuine Audi parts from Audi Highlands but they weren't interested in this
So I phoned Audi UK and tried to reason with them but it just fell on deaf ears!
In the end I just gave up the fight as I wanted it done, so I paid the 30% (about £300) just to get it done
So I had to take it to Newcastle to get it repaired up there, they gave me a courtesy car, a poxy Kia C apostrophe D, which didn't help my mood, but mates and girlfriend found hilarious!!
Got the car back and was very happy with the work done and so I should be for the amount it cost
I read up on this issue before I took my car in, I know a few years back they were paying 100% of the cost but I think they got wise to this, as lots were taking advantage of it by all accounts
Like I say, I wanted it done, so I gave up in the end
I'd say try and fight to get the full amount paid for but i'll be amazed if they do
Hope you get it sorted, let me know how you get on

You could well do, but if you read all the forum reviews about it people are being told to bog off for all kinds of reasons

i.e. your car doesn't have full Audi service history (you're not a loyal Audi customer!), the vehicle has already had paint repair on that particular panel, damage was initially caused by stonechips, the car's been in an accident, you're too tall, you're too short, your name's not Doris, yada, yada, yada...

it'll be a damn good show if you manage to get it done for free, I'm still gonna try though. Only thing I'm concerned about is if you take it to a non-willing dealership, they do all the assessment, take photo's, send them off, etc, etc. Then they come back and say it's not warranty. But what if you decide to try with another dealership? The warranty claim will no doubt be registered with Audi and you're just going to get bounced out wherever you go. Be good to find a more lenient/helpful dealership who has a good record of getting this type of work passed and go from there. I understand each claim is taken under its own merits, but it would still help to go someplace where you've got half a chance.

Might be time to put me Muay Thai fighter stickers back on me car before i go down, see if i can intermediate em lol

Well Audi Manchester is a load of garbage. just got off the phone to their something or other manager (Paul).

Told him my cars an '03 with 60k and full Audi history from new and obviously the arches are going. He took the reg and told me that it's NOT got full service because its first service wan't till '07 albeit on 18k (I have an invoice from Boston Audi from '05 showing it's first service at 9k) and according to his records it's not been serviced since 2011. (I've just spend nearly a grand on cambelt, service and other bits at Stafford Audi). The way he was going on I already knew where the conversation was heading.

The usual drivel came out of his mouth that forums aren't fact it's just someones opinion, then he went on about goodwill and basically trying to say if you've not bought the car from us or ever brought it to us for servicing and repairs you've got no chance of getting any goodwill from us. Told him I'm not after goodwill I'm claiming on the anti-corrosion warranty for a well-documented issue. He says, "documented by who? Not Audi!" Told him of all the thousands of reported cases there are of this and the fact that VW of America has recognised these issues and offered to repair them for free and he tells me "You're going aside from the issue now". Cheeky ****..

Basically, freakin' useless. He said I should take it to wherever has had the benefit of the monies being spent at servicing/repair time as I might have a chance of getting goodwill from them but not from somewhere that's never seen the car. there was loads of other dismissive, snidey remarks in the convo aswell but I'm not gonna go into every minor detail. Might just go down there and give him some jip for the sake of it....trying to manner me on the phone like I'm some nob, I'll put him in the ****** boot..

Frustrated already and I've not even been anywhere with the car yet! Time to dig up some more ammo me thinks... Anyone got any documentation from Audi/VAG that covers the wing corrosion on these cars and their warrantable staus?

Well the reason I called M/cr Audi was because I used to work with a guy there in the late nineties when Audi and VW were on the same site in Ancoats (I worked on VW he was in Audi, same workshop though). I know he still works there so hoped if I could get hold of him he might be able to put a good word in and/or look after us if I took the car in. Couldn't get to speak to him though so had to deal with that plonker instead...never mind.

I wonder if shaming Audi on social media is the way forward. They have 86,000 followers! Surely they don't want the world to know how shoddy their warranty is?

I had a bmw e46 with corroded rear arches, 04 plate car repaired in 2013, they repaired them without issue, complaint or split payment!

I took mine to my local audi dealers last October and had both front wings done for free. I think it comes down to the dealers and service history. I did ask want the service history had to do with it rusting and they couldn't answer!

South hereford. Took them two day to get back to me. They did say if the wings had been repaired before I had no chance. I think they claimed on crease and something and not the corrosion warranty.

It's worth a go. I only had a go as I read it on here and thought what the hell. When I got there they knew where to look without me telling them so they know there is a problem. I did try for my tailgate but they turned that down saying it was stone chips.lol

Small update, as we all imagined shock horror audi have come back with a 70/30 split which will cost me £681 inc vat. This is 2 new wings, roof repainted and roof rails etc. So I've raised the issue with Audi UK, I'm having a call Monday from a case manager. This IS a manufacturing issue, it's basically caused by the method they choose to fit the roof to the vehicle which audi/vag have the patented, (hence why only vag cars suffer from it) also within the last 2 weeks VW have changed their view on rusty wings and now pay 100% of the replacement cost. So roll on Monday as I have all my relevant information ready for them. Wish me luck!

Good luck. I don't know if it makes a difference but the dealers that did mine are also vw dealers on the site next door. It was the vw body shop that did the repair aswell.

VW seem to be far more honest and willing to accept responsibility for poor manufacturing mistakes! Audi want to tell fibs and blame anything but themselves!

Yeah I know! My brother has a passat on a 03reg and vw did the front wings without a problem so why does Audi deny the problem doesn't make sence!

Not sure, and and VW clearly don't share the same customer service ethos!

Disgraceful isn't it? Same platforms, same techniques - one takes care of its customers, the other treats you like a moron...

They did my inner plastic arches as VW have said to do the passat ones, trimmed and sealed to the wing so no water can get in and it won't rub the inside of the wing!

I genuinely will take this to a small claims court. I'm not having it. They all go in the same place, on the roof and the wings! Come on even ford escorts and ka don't rust on the roof and they rust minutes after being made!

Well the manager that I saw at the beginning said "well it is nine years old what do you expect" to which I replied "No rust like my wife's 12yr old peugeot"

If it's going to rust after 9 years, why put a 12 year warranty on it! Corrosion was a thing if the 80's 90's I believed! How wrong was I!

Definitely. For the sake of £25 you've got to. Alright, fees might be a bit more depending on the amount of your claim but it's the principle of the matter. We buy their cars, spend money on their parts and servicing, champion their brand and when it comes to getting what we are rightfully due, they try and dump on us from as many different heights and angles as possible. End of the day they have sold a vehicle and offered a 12-year anti perforation warranty, they can't start moving the goal-posts and making random excuses depending on the day of the week, it's not on.

Hopefully mate if I win, no fee's as I don't want money, I want the car putting right! I'm not to clued up on small claims court!

I had the rear floor-pan crack on my E46, the aftersales manager at Rybrook in Shrewsbury (name and shame time!) had the cheek to tell me that if I had bought an old Triumph or TVR (can't remember which one he said) I'd be welding a whole new floor in by now! WTF has that got to do with the price of meat?!!? The cheek of them is just disgusting. Not only do they try and wriggle out of their obligations but they try and treat you like a complete idiot in the meantime. Really gets my back up.... That's why I'm not giving in on this one. BMW screwed me over royally and I'm not trying to let it happen again. This time I'll be pushing it to the nth degree.
