hey guys/gals

as above...


i'm getting a sound very similar to a BOV when changing gears/letting off the throttle and it's rather loud. Took it to the garage yesterday and they couldn't find the issue, although they agreed there is one.

I'm also down on power, in my opinion, but the guy that took me out didn't seem to think so. It just didn't feel right, felt like a N/A 2.0 rather than turbo.

anyone else had this problem?

any help appreciated
 
started on Monday mate. taking it to the garage next week but don't want them to con me, so thought i'd get some advice!
 
I think i have a similar sound, i think i had the sound for ~2 years, please keep us updated with your findings
 
The N75 valve if blocked will cause this issue . Remove the vaccum line that comes from the N75 valve into the airbox and blow a bit of compressed air into the N75 valve. Usually they get a bit dirty and cause a dosing/flutter sound and the ECU puts the car into a limp mode situation. It's basically cutting boost from the turbo . Try cleaning it out and see if it helps otherwise you might have to replace it . Let us know what happens

It's off to the garage tonight (covered under warranty) i'll keep you updated. They have another A3 s line quattro going in tomorrow, so they are going to swap parts to find out the issue exactly.

i'll let them know about the N75 Valve/Vaccum line.

ESP Light is also getting sorted. I believe the sensors are the problem with this though and it's a common issue?
 
It's the stock one at the moment as the modding hasn't started yet. That will be at the start of next month, but I need to get everything in check before upping the power etc.

With a bit of luck it will only be in the garage for the day and I can collect it tomorrow evening *fingers crossed*
 
No update as of yet. I did call the garage this morning but they haven't found the problem yet...

Going to call again in the next 15-20 mins to see what is happening. Can't handle driving this Nissan Almera '02 plate any longer (a day is long enough) :puke2:
 
Just spoken to the garage and have been told they have sent the codes to Audi Aberdeen. The mechanic was more than happy to give me the codes though to enable me to do some digging, a lot of garages i've spoken to before seem to be reluctant!

There are 2 of each code... not sure what that means though exactly! one is for the ESP light being on, I believe?

A simple search on the Ross-Tech wiki gave me these results.

Not sure how bad these are in all honesty, or if they are simple fixes?

Mine makes like a bov noise but mine has a turbo back exhaust remap and egr delete I didn't get the noise really before all this so I can only put it down to turbo noise coming through now..... I have no power loss tho.... My cosworth has always sounded different too depending on exhaust and air filter used and amount of boost etc....
 
Have you resolved the BOV-like, sound? I am having similar problem on my 1.9 TDI (BKC), however I do not register any power losses whatsoever. Just the sound, which was fine at the beginning, but it has become more of an annoyance by now. We thought it was a rusty exhaust mounting at the beginning, however after changing it, the sound didn't go away.

Still hasn't been resolved mate. I've spoken to the garage and they are unable to fix it themselves so have sent it to an Audi Specialist this morning. Been told they will update me tomorrow, but I'm going to call later on this afternoon.

I'll keep this thread updated with any useful info I receive.

Been told by angel tuning they can remap my car tomorrow too, so I'm gutted. Will have to rearrange that!
 
I have recorded the issue on my phone, someone might be able to tell more from the sound of it. I wonder if the sound is the same as you are having.

Boost leak perhaps have you checked the hoses ie cooler hoses and boost valve hoses....
 
I have exactly same sound, but much louder because of back box delete :) I think you shouldn't worry, I work in car service and quite often see cars doing sound like that. If I'm correct, that is normal wastegate operation, or not ?
 
have the same noise here. had it for over a year. did mention it once when it was in for a service and they checked the pipes for a boost leak and also took it out and they said it seemed to be boosting fine but they could not hear the noise! soon as i got back in the car and drove it the noise was there!

That's an accurate description haha! but yeah, it's very similar to that. wasn't noticable at all when i first purchased the car. but now all hell is breaking loose power wise! Unsure if related to be honest...

can't get through to the garage this morning though, so will update all once i manage.

UPDATE:

The reason the power is down is because the Haldex Control Module has decided it doesn't want to be on this planet anymore.

Going to be a couple of days until I get the car back :( that'll be a week tomorrow I've been without it.

Still waiting to hear back about the owl that lives in my engine bay too...
 
Sorry to hijack your thread again. :) I thought it would be good to have complex info on the issue in one place. I hope you don't mind, however if you do I will start a new thread, no probs :)

So I did a turbocharger VAGCOM scan and logged the pressures both actual and specified for a pal on my local forum who said it would be good to see in what state the turbocharger is. But since I have them I thought it would be good to get more heads to have a look at it. Is anyone able to interpret them for me? I read something on Rosstech site but I am not sure I understand what they are saying.

Any news regarding your issues? I have been researching the issue and it is either Turbo Actuator giving away or there is a crack/hole in my exhaust, which I didn't have a chance to look at it lately and a brief inspection showed no cracks, but it really was a very brief one:)
 
completey forgot about updating this!

the power loss was due to the Haldex Module failing, so i had to get a new one fitted.

the whooshing noise however, they think it is a loose o ring, but couldn't find out which one it is :/ so i'm stuck with the noise for now.

i'm completely stumped what to do tbh
