Do you find the magnetic ride makes much of a difference?

Got Mag ride on mine and usually have it in Auto, I would say the difference is most noticable when you stick it in Dynamic, the shocks do tighten up quite a bit. Have only had it in Comfort a couple of times but it does feel a bit bouncier.

Never had an Audi before so can't really compare to the standard suspension options but I would say that there are real tangible changes in the car with the Mag Ride settings and it makes the Drive Select modes a bit more distinctive.

It's a really hard one to answer as there aren't any S3 saloons out there without it that I could compare to and the S3 SB's I test drive without it were on 18's rather than 19's. I have mine set in comfort on the road and I reckon it's ever so slightly softer than without mag ride on 18's. On dynamic it is a lot firmer but only much use on track? If it wasn't standard I don't think I'd have specced it, however it does offset the harder riding 19's a bit

I do have this sinking feeling that he'll say "that can't be fixed" or something, but we'll see.

Joe,

I've been running my saloon for about 10 days, and I'm not sure if you would agree but for me it feels like a completely different car to the sport back.

I tend to use Comfort 90% of the time, but all in all this is the best Audi I've ever owned. I even like it more than my S4 avant and TTRS's

I couldn't comment on the TTRS or S4 but it's easily the best I've ever owned, I'm still staggered by its capabilities. As for differences to the sportback, it's hard to say, I also have it in comfort most of the time, and it's an amazing super GT. It does feel better than the SB's I've driven but that might be just down to me having my seats/settings being just how I want them, but I do think the stability/grip is even better than I remember from the SB, maybe from 19's and wider track?

What I love the most is the effortless power and traction, but also the fact that this is the first car I've had where I truely don't need anywhere near full throttle most of the time even to make quick progress, albeit I love full throttle when I can!

I know we're comparing cars from a lifetime away, but back in the early 90's I used to own Mk1/2 Golfs. For a brief spell I fell on harder times and bought the Jetta Mk2 16v equivalent of the Golf, and despite it's slightly dowdy reputation that car was SO much more balanced, better riding, felt less flexy and I much preferred the way it drove.

I was talking to Bill Brockbank about it last time I was up there and he agreed. I don't thnk the gaping hatch does much for the back end, I think the rear of the car is far better tied together with a boot rather than a hatch, and the bit of overhang at the rear end makes the handling far more neutral and predictable. I'd assume it's a similar deal for the saloon vs. hatch/ SB?????

Mmm, he's here, and I think they've sent the wrong guy. This guy sands down and re-paints, which I don't need (or want) as my dents don't have any paint damage at all. He's now calling up to try and get a guy who pop's them out, but won't be today Still don't know how I got so many from one encounter, starting to wonder if its a defect with the door metal itself...

Well they are now sending out another guy who is trained to lever them out from behind somehow, so we'll see what he manages. If he can't do it, or messes it up, what options do I have? Claim on main insurance and get a new panel entirely? I just can't leave it as-is...

He's now calling up to try and get a guy who pop's them out, but won't be today Still don't know how I got so many from one encounter, starting to wonder if its a defect with the door metal itself...

That's a joke. Not sure how a dent could need a respray!

Some times if you say had the full face of a stone hit hit a panel you will potentially get dents from where each individual edge hit. It does happen and it's horrific sometimes.

Should be easy to fix when you get a guy over who knows what he's doing!

I actually had 5 dents, 2 bad ones, and 3 little ones higher up. He took out the little ones no bother, but can't get to the others as the are on the crease of the door, and apparently there is a metal brace behind it, and no matter how he went about it, he couldn't get behind it to lever them out....

Gutted. I suggested filler and a re-paint, as my next option but he wasn't optimistic due to the curves on that part of the door.

So struggling with options really. I guess I'd be left putting in an insurance claim, paying £300 excess for a £1K door? Doubt they'd even let me claim that if I did try.

So frustrating. Good that door is better than before, but always assumed that it would be fixable.

Any ideas people?
