F1 season 2014

I don't think there is any way they can prove that was deliberate, he looked like he was over driving it, he was on the ragged edge, If Lewis could have gone faster he should have done it in his first run, if rosbertg hadn't caused the yellows somebody else could have.
will be a good race tomorrow, I think lewis will pass rosberg or crash in the process of trying to get through.
You certainlty don't need to be a body language expert to see what Lewis thinks.
Great TV.

It's under investigation.

Spoiler Alert: As Nico went up the hill from the start line I was thinking "he doesn't need to go flat out, he can get pole with a mistake that slows Hamilton" ...what happened next was disgusting imo.

Personal feeling on this is, I'll give Rosberg the benefit of the doubt, but he is German though!.... Lol

I personally don't think he will get a penalty, that just would not be great for the sport. the fastest cars should be at the front, but if the Stewarts find something conclusive, then I'd be quite disappointed with Rosberg. Lewis is just going pass him during the pits, maybe 2 different strategies to keep them apart again?

Learning point to Hamilton, Don't mess around !! he had a chance on the first run to beat Rosberg and he didn't what makes him think he was going to do it on the second. If he was faster he should have shown that speed on the first run.
There is always chances for Yellows at Monaco at any time, there were plenty throughout qualifying he should have thought of that.

It's easy to say this after quali though. I thought the track was 'evolving' through quali, so by the end, there was much more rubber laid down, not to mention the track temps were higher in the end, making the tyres work better. That's my understanding from what the commentators was feeding us anyways.

I wasn't too keen on Lewis' reaction post quali though. I know it's only natural to want to win all the races, and he's done good up until now, but it's not so bad for the championship to mix it up a bit, this is a good test for him, let's see how he comes out of if? I mean it's a long season, even if he comes second, it's not exactly all over is it? Does he not realise he's caught up with Rosberg after giving him a 25pt head start?! It's quite astonishing really!

Not even a handshake from Lewis to congratulate Rosberg after the race there! There's something more sinister going on than just the quali incident yesterday between them! It's going to be a long *** season for sure now. :racer:

How can the poor guy shake hands jojo? He'd still got something in his bl**dy eye; that had passed through his visor - in the tunnel - and he got out with his mega-gloved hand...

PS: don't show Judith this one... :ermm:

Lewis nearly started crying when asked about his eye,he never looked close to taking Nico before that incident but obviously he thinks his team mate was underhand in qualifying.

I thought it was quite funny when Lewis was complaining about the team strategy, Mercedes only have one man doing the strategy for both drivers and who ever is in front gets first call on pit stops and things like that. Well it's worked for him most of the time this year when he's been in front, it looked to me like he was throwing his toys out of the pram.
I wouldn't be surprised if they change that and give the drivers the opportunity to do some stuff themselves. I suspect Lewis would have gone straight in the pits when he saw that accident rather going the extra lap.

Senna and Prost take 2

Nico’s mistake in qualiy… I did think it was intentional, just before he went off, the cameras was on him, and I questioned why he was moving the steering wheel like he did?

That said, i'm happy the stewards cleared him of any wrongdoing… 1 – 0 to Nico in the mind games :sly:

Did think it was a good GP to watch, more overtaking than expected at Monaco, nice to see them having a go. :racer:

Shame Lewis had something in his eye, or he’d have had Nico!!

I think from the video of the in cockpit footage it was deliberate (but then I thought this before I saw that as I have memories of Schumi at Rascasse). Mixed views across the paddock on this too, so it's certainly not clear cut case. I think it was the mark of a desperate man, but it's made me like ROS even less than I did previously (and I'm not a hug HAM fan).

Should add some spice to an otherwise two horse race kind of season, good to see Vettel's luck still biting him after years of riding the easy train. Good shows from ALO & RIC but then this wasn't a power track.

The way they're pushing, the Wall of Champions awaits both Mercedes.

Edit: oh no ...looks like the Mercs have been hacked. :bye:

WTF , Can I change my driver in the fantasy F1, Have Rosberg and Massa, Rosberg did a superb job , What was Massa doing ?? . There was noway he was going to get past Perez there and get around the corner.
Other than that what anbrilliant race.

A fairly good race IMHO, and I can't believe Massa stuffed it on the last lap... OK I can actually. Whilst watching I was thinking, I like Massa but he just doesn't seem to have that edge anymore (perhaps never did...) and I wouldn't be surprised if he crashed. Didn't think it would be quite that spectacular though.

What an interesting race and a crazy crash at the end too!!

I was watching it live at work when Massa and Perez came together, and I screamed out load to the shock of my customers! First thoughts was hope they was ok, Massa's impact was apparently peaked 27g at point of impact! Lucky boy.
Rosberg is such a lucky git, Hamilton may have lost the championship winning more races but having these 2 DNF's whilst leading the race! :( At least he's taking it on the chin this time round!! Game on!

I found it to be a good and exciting race in parts, but it did feel like a long race.

I guess it’s easy to say now, but imo Mercedes need to look at they’re race strategy?
Before you can win races, you need to finish, racing the cars that hard and having DNFs isn’t any good for Lewis or Nico….. but its great for us to watch!!

I don’t know about Perez changing his line, but if you watch it a few times, you will see Perez slow down dramatically compared with Vettel, and it’s not a heavy braking corner?

Disappointed that Nico didn’t have a 5 second penalty, going over the chicane when Lewis closed upon him!

Don’t think Lewis was in a position to overtake, but Nico definitely gained a time advantage.

What about paster maldanardo - i think his one of the worst F1 drivers out on the paddock?

I'd probably give that honour to Adrian "crasher" Sutil! He probably completes the least Grand Prix of anyone on track.

It is unfortunate these days there are several drivers only there because of the money they bring. With Maldanado he is sponsored by PDVSA. Sutil has some big sponsors behind him too, This means more talented drivers such as Paul Di Resta have had to make way for less talented drivers.

Karl.

Indeed Max Chilton is only there because of his dad. Grahame Chilton a big wig in the London insurance market. Number 33 in the Surrey richest 50 in 2011 at 93 million. That is declared wealth, being in the insurance/ finance world I am sure there is a lot more hidden away.
That why Tom Chilton used to drive an AON sposored Ford because his dad was part owned the company.
And his current World touring car is sponsored by Capscium a company founded by his father.

Surrey's Richest 50 2011 - People - Surrey Life

Nice to be a daddys boy, there are many other drivers who would do a lot better job but don't have the backing of a multi-millionaire family. Bianchi who is max's team mate is a Ferrari B driver and usually out qualifies and out performs Max.

Lewis was flying high until Nico did him at Monaco, he can say to himself that the car let him down in Canada, (or did he push it to hard) but Nico got the better of him in Austria.

I think Silverstone maybe the turning point for Lewis, a win will give him the give him confidence to go forward and win more races, but lose again to Nico and I think you will see him pushing to hard and making silly mistakes in the next few races.

any thoughts?

I think the reliability is equal, but Hamilton has always been harder on his cars than most others, and the strategy always seems to favour Nico so I can't really see him catching Nico now.

It's a German car manufacturer with a German engine and a German driver, Lewis was always going to be disadvantaged. Lewis needs Rosberg to have a DNF to give him a chance. Maybe that double points race at the end of the year will make the difference. The constructors title will be won well before then but the drivers may go to the final race.
I am really interested to see where Red Bull are going to get there new engine, can't see them sticking with Renault after 2015.
I think they will be going to Honda, Mclaren can knock all the bugs out of it and get it upto speed in 2015 and Renault will pick it up in 2016.

Since Mercedes have revealed the design schematics of their revolutionary Turbo design I reckon Renault will already have a working copy on a test mule somewhere ...they'd be mad not to.

It was good to see Susie Wolff in the Williams today, :icon_thumright: she set the fastest time at one point in the 4 laps she run, till an oil pressure problem killed the Williams. :crying:

Not a good day for Williams with Massa taking 4 wheels off his car at Vale.
Id love to see filling out an insurance claim, he said the corner pushed him over!!

I just had quick look, think it opens at 6am

If you have General admission ticket you may want to get a good viewing spot, so think about that?

As for track activity.. that starts from 8:10, and it’s pretty much something on all day long from there.

2014 BRITISH GP | Silverstone

When iv gone, there’s always been lots to see and do away from the track too.

I’d get there ASAP, the traffic will be a nightmare.

FRIC suspension systems are banned for 2nd half of the season, let's see how much performance the Mercs lose.

I din't think they had banned them just yet, still no decision has been made I thought. I am sure some teams possibly rely on this technology more than others. It could be the likes of Caterham and Marussia will lose less than Mercedes or Mclaren. Although the way the McLaren seems to be going it might help it.

So apart from the Massa taking himself out incident, I felt this was quite an entertaining race, helped by the man 'Ramilton' chasing through the field to make the podium from the back of the grid! Infact, the whole race was so focused on Lewis going through the pack, that the camera's hardly showed Nico at all throughout the race, apart from his pitstops, despite the fact he was a 'German' driver, driving in his 'home' grandprix! lol
And the battles that Alonso are involved in are always entertaining aswell, especially when he comes up against one of the Redbulls! Though I'm not really sure what happened with Raikkonen, he was battered all over the place, and a sandwich filler at one point!

Yes it was very entertaining JoJo, best race I seen lights to flag for a long time.
They was all having a go, Raikkonen now knows what it feels like to drive inside a pinball machine!
Don’t think id blame on Magnussen, Massa had lots of road left to use if he looked.
Good to see Lewis/ Mercedes using their head, taking the 5 place drop and getting a new gearbox.. oops that’s right, they needed one after the crash :whistle2:
Fantastic wheel to wheel racing from.. well take your pick Vettel Alonso Ricciardo Lewis :applaus:
